FIELD OF INVENTION:
[001] The present subject matter described herein, relates to a vehicle construction and more particularly, relates to a split type air guide configured with a radiator of the vehicle. 5
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART:
[002] An air guide is a duct type structure normally provided with a bumper grill of a vehicle. Functioning of the air guide is to guide a substantial volume of air towards radiator of the vehicle. Conventional air guiding structures include a unitary single structure configured to be mounted on the bumper grill. However, 10 due to a varying bumper grille styling in recent trends, a varying depth or design of the air guide is desired, and is not possible with unitary single structured air guides. Further, multi-part air guides have been incorporated with the bumper grills to cater to the styling and depth requirements. However, designs of such multi-part air guides are not optimized due to which substantial air leakage occurs, 15 which is undesirable as it affects radiator airflow rate.
[003] Korean Patent publication KR1305169B1 proposes an air guide unit for a vehicle to efficiently distribute and inject outside air from the outside of a vehicle, thereby improving the cooling efficiency of a cooling module. The air guide unit includes a first guide (110), a second guide (120), and a fixing unit (130). The first 20 guide is installed in the front of the condenser of an air conditioner. The second guide at the lower side of the first guide is installed in the front of a radiator for an electric power apparatus. The fixing units are respectively and integrally formed along the rear peripheries of the first and the second guide, and fix the first and second guides to the front of a cooling module. 25
[004] However, the components, assembly, shape, and location of the parts mentioned in the prior art is not similar to the present disclosure.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
3
[005] The principal objective of the present invention is to provide a split type air guide for a vehicle that incurs minimal air leakage.
[006] Another object of the present subject matter is to provide a simple, cost effective, and efficiently designed split type air guide that is distinct from all conventional designs. 5
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
[007] The present invention relates to a split type air guide configured with a radiator of a vehicle. The split type air guide includes an upper part integrated with a bumper grill, the upper part defining a substantial inverted U-shape profile having a top surface, a first side surface and a second side surface extending 10 downwards from the top surface, the first side surface having a ribbed edge, and the second side surface having a zig-zag edge; and a lower part configured to be mounted on the bumper grill below the upper part, the lower part defining a substantial open conduit profile having a bottom surface, an upper surface, and a third side surface and a fourth side surface extending upwards from the bottom 15 surface up to the upper surface, the third side surface having a linear edge proximal to the upper surface, and the fourth side surface having an L-shaped edge proximal to the upper surface, wherein the ribbed edge and the linear edge, and the zig-zag edge and the L-shaped edge substantially overlap each other to define the split type air guide. 20

[0015] These and other advantages of the present subject matter would be described in greater detail with reference to the following figures. It should be noted that the description merely illustrates the principles of the present subject matter. It will thus be appreciated that those skilled in the art will be able to devise various arrangements that, although not explicitly described herein, embody the 25 principles of the present subject matter and are included within its scope.
[0016] Fig. 1 illustrates an inside view of a bumper grill 104 of a vehicle incorporating a split type air guide 100 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The split type air guide 100 is configured with a radiator of the vehicle. The split type air guide 100 includes an upper part 102 integrated with the 30
6
bumper grill 104. In an example, the upper part 102 may be molded with the bumper grill 104. Further a depth associated with the upper part 102 is in the range of 80-120 mm. The upper part 102 defines a substantial inverted U-shape profile having a top surface 106, a first side surface 108 and a second side surface 110 extending downwards from the top surface 106. In an embodiment, the first 5 side surface 108 includes a ribbed edge 112, and the second side surface 110 having a zig-zag edge 114.
[0017] The split type air guide 100 further includes a lower part 116 configured to be mounted on the bumper grill 104 below the upper part 102. In an example, the lower part 116 includes a plurality of mountings 117 configured to be secured 10 with corresponding plurality of mounting points provided on the bumper grill 104. The lower part 116 defines a substantial open conduit profile having a bottom surface 118, an upper surface 119, and a third side surface 120 and a fourth side surface 122 extending upwards from the bottom surface 118 up to the upper surface 119. Further, a depth associated with the upper surface 119 is around 50 15 mm, and a depth associated with the bottom surface 118 is in the range of 80-120 mm. In an example, the third side surface 120 includes a linear edge 124 proximal to the upper surface 119, and the fourth side surface 122 includes an L-shaped edge 126 proximal to the upper surface 119. In an embodiment, the ribbed edge 112 and the linear edge 124, and the zig-zag edge 114 and the L-shaped edge 126 20 substantially overlap each other to define a uniform structure corresponding to the split type air guide 100.
[0018] Fig. 2 illustrates enlarged schematic views of portions A and B of the split type air guide 100 of Fig. 1. Portion A corresponds to overlapping of the ribbed edge 112 of the upper part 102 with the linear edge 124 of the lower part 116, and 25 defining a gap G1. Portion B corresponds to overlapping of the zig-zag edge 114 of the upper part 102 with the L-shaped edge 126 of the lower part 116, and defining a gap G2. Considering the depth requirements of various components of the split type air guide 100, the aforementioned split type design and overlapping of the edges provides minimal air leakage through the split type air guide 100, 30
7
which further does not affect an airflow rate associated with the radiator of the vehicle.
[0019] Although embodiments for the present subject matter have been described in language specific to structural features, it is to be understood that the present subject matter is not necessarily limited to the specific features described. Rather, 5 the specific features and methods are disclosed as embodiments for the present subject matter.
