Abstract: A Spring Testing Tool is a manually operating mechanical tool which is designed to be used for carrying out Load Test in compression for coiled springs.The measurement of axial deflection/compression of the spring is done by application of load and measurement of deflection directly on the graduated scale. Length of the spring L1 (Before applying load ), and L2( After applying load )at the given load are noted from the scale. This tool comprises of mainly three parts namely- base with column, Cylindrical weight and graduated scale.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The invention is useful for measurement of the spring deflection length at applied load.
Spring Testing Tool is a Tool which works on the principle of load vs deflection
characteristics. Load implies, applied load on the spring.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION.
Coiled spring used for various purposes exposed to varying limit of load while put at
actual work. It should resist the deflection in compression beyond 5 yond allowable limit. It was
needed to test its deflection length at applied load for that spring testing tool came into
being. It is designed and developed for measurement of spring deflection length at
particular load as this type of device does not exist at. The tool can be customized for
any load & deflection allowed in spring .

SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
In accordance with one aspect of Present invention is to provide facility to measure the length of
spring in compression stage after application of load on the spring. Subsequently deflection 5 flection is
calculated by subtracting the compressed length from the original length of spring.
In accordance with second aspect of Present invention is to provide a customized /handy spring
deflection testing tool according to required applied load on the spring.
In accordance with another aspect of Present invention is to provide a very easy to used/user
10 friendly spring deflection testing tool.
In accordance with yet another aspect of Present invention is to provide a light weight and easy
to carry spring deflection tool.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION
Coiled springs used for various purposes undergoes through a varying range of load to
15 bear with. At a certain load the spring should not show deflection beyond prescribed limit
/ safety limit under given load conditions. Spring Testing Tool is a Tool which works on
the principle of load vs deflection characteristic. Load implies, exerted load on the spring
which is mounted on to the column by putting a weight over spring. The deflection
observed because of weight is measured on the graduated scale on column mounted
20 with base. The scale has a accuracy of 0.1 mm. The spring testing tool can be
customized up to required load strength of the spring Vs allowed deflection in
compression side. Wholesome, this spring testing tool is designed for spring having
internal diameter “d”.
The tool comprises three parts.
25 1. First part (refer sketch) is “Base with column” in which spring is mounted/kept.
Diameter of column will be less than internal diameter of spring by 0.1 mm. Diameter of
column varies as per the diameter of spring.
2. Second part (refer sketch) is “Weight / Load” for which spring deflection has to be
measured after application of permitted /allowed load. Load is cylindrical having whole
30 in the centre to fit into the column. Internal diameter of this part is 0.1 mm more than the
diameter of column so that it will easily fit/slide into the column and provide required load
on the spring. Radius of external surface of load is lesser by 0.5 mm from the distance of
graduated scale from the center of column. (For detail refer the sketch).
3. Third part (refer Sketch) is “Graduated scale” which is mounted on the base of the first
35 part (Refer the sketch please). The graduated scale will be used for measurement of
length of spring at one point (length before applied load and after application of load).
The graduated scale is fixed with base of base with column with the help of cheese head
screw.

- base with column,

- Graduated Scale
2. The spring testing tool of claim 1 wherein, graduated scale mounted on the base with cheese head screw for measurement of length of spring after/before application of load.
3. The spring testing tool of claim 1 & 2, wherein is used for testing the compressive deflection of coiled spring after application of load.
4. The spring testing tool of claim 1 & 2, wherein base with column is used for encasing/keeping vertically the coiled spring.
