Stack Delivery System

Abstract: A stack delivery system (100) for transferring stacks of hinged lid pack (HLP) blanks based on height of the stacks. The stack delivery system (100) comprises at least one conveyor belt (102) for receiving stacks of HLP blanks. At least one height sensor (106) placed near the at least one conveyor belt (102), determines whether a height of each stack is at least equal to a pre-defined height, wherein the height of the each stack indicates number of HLP blanks in a respective stack. The at least one height sensor (106) generates a stack rejection signal for a stack having height lesser than the pre-defined height. A stack rejection controller (110), receives the stack rejection signal and activates a stack removal unit (112) in order to remove the stack from the at least one conveyor belt (102).

Specification

Claims:1. A stack delivery system (100) for transferring stacks of hinged lid pack (HLP) blanks based on height of the stacks, the stack delivery system (100) comprising:
at least one conveyor belt (102) for receiving a plurality of stacks of HLP blanks at regular intervals;
at least one height sensor (106) placed near the at least one conveyor belt (102), to
determine whether a height of each stack, from the plurality of stacks, is at least equal to a pre-defined height, wherein the height of the each stack is indicative of a number of HLP blanks in a respective stack;
generate a stack rejection signal for a stack when the height of the stack is determined to be less than the pre-defined height; and
a stack rejection controller (110), coupled to the at least one height sensor (106), programmed to receive the stack rejection signal for the stack and activate a stack removal unit (112) to remove the stack from the at least one conveyor belt (102).
2. The stack delivery system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pre-defined height is about 100 mm.
3. The stack delivery system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one height sensor (106) is a photo-electric sensor.
4. The stack delivery system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the stack rejection controller (110) is a programmable logic controller (PLC).
5. The stack delivery system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the stack removal unit (112) comprises at least one ejection conveyor belt (114) associated with the at least one conveyor belt (102) for removing the stack from the at least one conveyor belt (102).
6. The stack delivery system (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the stack rejection controller (110) is configured to lift and move the at least one ejection conveyor belt (114) to remove the stack from the at least one conveyor belt (102).

7. The stack delivery system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one height sensor (106) is placed at a side of the at least one conveyor belt (102) at the pre-defined height from the surface of the at least one conveyor belt (102).

8. A method for transferring stacks of hinged lid pack (HLP) blanks based on height of the stacks using a stack delivery system (100), the method comprising:
receiving, by at least one conveyor belt (102), a plurality of stacks of HLP blanks;
determining, by at least one height sensor (106), whether a height of each stack, from the plurality of stacks, is at least equal to a pre-defined height;
generating, by the at least one height sensor (106), a stack rejection signal for a stack, from the plurality of stacks, for which the height is determined to be less than the pre-defined height; and
receiving, by a stack rejection controller (110), a stack rejection signal for the stack;
activating, by the stack rejection controller (110), a stack removal unit (112) to remove the stack from the at least one conveyor belt.

9. The method as claimed in claim 8, wherein the stack removal unit (112) comprises at least one ejection conveyor belt (114) associated with the at least one conveyor belt (102) for removing the stack from the at least one conveyor belt (102), and wherein the activating the stack removal unit (112) comprises:
lifting and moving the at least one ejection conveyor belt 114 to remove the stack from the at least one conveyor belt (102).
