Specification

DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to steam traps, and more particularly, the present invention relates to the steam trap for discharge of condensate.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A steam trap is a device used to discharge condensates and non-condensable gases with a negligible consumption or loss of live steam. Most steam traps are nothing more than automatic valves. They open, close or modulate automatically.
Systems which operate on steam require to be free of condensate, air and other non-condensable gases in order to function properly. Steam traps, as the name suggests, are devices that hold back steam and discharge condensates and non-condensable gases from a steam system.
The steam traps currently used in the industry are not wholesome. Multiple parts need to be assembled onto the steam trap to make it function effectively, thereby making the whole system expensive, space consuming and causing inconvenience to the user. Generally, in the pipes carrying steam, water hammering and line blast happens due to improper discharge of condensate and accumulation of scales in the line.
In the float steam traps currently available in the market, the user has to separately install a strainer and sight glass in the steam line to have a satisfactory operation of float trap. Consequently, the steam line length increases considerably to install said components separately and cost of the system increases substantially.
Accordingly, there exists a need to provide a steam trap apparatus, system and process for operation thereof which addresses the afore-mentioned concerns.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a steam trap apparatus (100).
It is another object of the present invention to provide a steam trap apparatus (100) which is economical.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a steam trap apparatus (100) which saves space.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a steam trap apparatus (100) which is efficient.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a steam trap apparatus (100) which has an extended life.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a steam trap system.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a process for operation of the steam trap apparatus (100).
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a process for operation of the steam trap system.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

The apparatus, system and process of the present invention is explained with the help of the following non-limiting drawings.

Figure 1 illustrates one embodiment of the apparatus (100) of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
¬In accordance with one aspect, the present invention provides a steam trap apparatus (100). In accordance with another aspect, the present invention provides a steam trap system. In accordance with yet another aspect, the present invention provides a process for operation of the steam trap apparatus (100). The features, functionalities, components, conditions of operation and steps of the apparatus, system and process of the present invention include but are not limited to the invention herein below.
Referring to figure 1, the present invention provides a steam trap apparatus (100), in accordance with the present invention. The steam trap apparatus (100) comprises least one housing (10) and a cover member (12) covering the hollow housing (10). The housing (10) is configured with an inlet means (14) for condensate with steam, an outlet means (16) for condensate and at least one window (18) configured thereon. The inlet means (14), the outlet means (16), and the window (18) are integral part of the housing (10) and the cover member (12) surfaces the above parts.
The steam trap apparatus (100) further comprises at least one means for filtration configured within the inlet means (14). In an embodiment, the filtration means is a strainer (20) removably secured within the inlet means (14). The mesh size of the strainer (20) is selected in such manner that the strainer (20) doesn’t allow the scales and other impurities to pass through the housing (10) of the apparatus (100). In one embodiment, the housing (10) comprises an arrangement /slit (not shown) for inserting the strainer (20) within the inlet (14) portion. Once the strainer (20) is inserted, the cover (12) surfaces the slit to hold the strainer (20) in position.
The steam trap apparatus (100) furthermore comprises at least one means for viewing configured on the window (18) of the hollow housing. In an embodiment, the means for viewing is a glass (18A). The glass (18A) is held firmly on the window (18) by means of the cover (12). In one embodiment, the glass (18A) and the strainer (20) form an association with the cover (12).
The steam trap apparatus (100) furthermore comprises at least one float mechanism configured within the housing. In an embodiment, the float mechanism comprises a rotary ball (22) and seat (24) for the rotary ball. Specifically, the seat (24) for rotary ball is capable of resting the rotary ball (22) thereon freely when the condensate is below predetermined level. Upon collection of predetermined condensate in the hollow housing (10), the rotary ball (22) gets floated on the condensate and allows the condensate to escape though the outlet means.
In one embodiment, the hollow housing (10) holds together all the internal components. The float operation can be easily viewed through the sight glass (18A). The strainer (20) screen can be easily opened and serviced as it is accessible from outside of the steam trap (10). The steam trap apparatus of the present invention, in one embodiment, is a float-type steam trap.
The steam trap apparatus (100) of the present invention is made up of raw materials including but not limited to cast iron, cast steel and stainless steel. The apparatus (100) of the present invention is manufactured in a size including but not limited to 15nb, 20nb, 25nb, 40nb and 50nb. The wall thickness of the apparatus (100) and the thickness of the glass for the sight glass (6) is arrived at in accordance with the application of the apparatus (100) in a pressurized steam line. Further, the location of the strainer (18) and the sight glass (16A) can change depending on the size of the steam trap.
The steam trap apparatus (100) can be used in the industry such sugar industry, power industry and all such places where heat exchangers are used.
As a virtue of the apparatus (100) of the present invention, the user will save cost of buying separate components such as strainer, sight glass, additional pipe and fittings. Furthermore, as a virtue of the rotary ball design, the life of the float trap also increases.
The embodiments described herein above are non-limiting. The foregoing descriptive matter is to be interpreted merely as an illustration of the concept of the present invention and it is in no way to be construed as a limitation. Description of terminologies, concepts and processes known to persons acquainted with technology has been avoided to preclude beclouding of the afore-stated embodiments.
TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES AND ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE
The technical advantages and economic significance of the apparatus (100), system and process of the present invention include but are not limited to:
- saves purchase of additional essential components; thereby making the whole apparatus (100) and system economical;
- saves spaces;
- enhanced life of the product;
- obviates compatibility issues with third party manufactured components;
- the float operation can be easily viewed through the sight glass; and
- the strainer screen can be easily opened and serviced as it is accessible from outside of the trap.
