Abstract: The present invention provides a steel sheet which has high strength, while achieving excellent appearance quality. A steel sheet which has a chemical composition that contains, in mass%, more than 0.030% but not more than 0.145% of C, 0% to 0.500% of Si, 0.50% to 2.50% of Mn, 0% to 0.100% of P, 0% to 0.020% of S, 0% to 1.000% of Al, 0% to 0.0100% of N and the like, while having a metal structure that is composed of 70% to 95% by volume of ferrite and 5% to 30% by volume of a hard phase. With respect to this steel sheet, the value X1 which is obtained by dividing the standard deviation in the sheet thickness direction of the average Mn concentration in the rolling direction at a position corresponding to 1/4 the sheet thickness by the average Mn concentration at the position corresponding to 1/4 the sheet thickness is 0.025 or less.
