FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to a mounting mechanism of a storage box in a scooter type vehicle and more particularly to the mounting mechanism of the storage box with fuel tank cover in said scooter type vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In current construction of scooter type vehicles storage box and cover fuel tank are directly mounted on the frame through different fastening means. Due to manufacturing variations, such as assembly line errors in frame, uneven gaps are generally observed with respect to attached embodiments such as styling parts, storage box under seat and fuel tank cover on rear end of vehicle.
In the course of time many voids get created between two parts e.g. storage box and fuel tank cover. A gap becomes clearly visible along the joint of the storage box and fuel tank cover which increases vibration and noise problems in the vehicle. Further, mentioned gap leads to poor fit & finish in the vehicle resulting in poor aesthetics of the vehicle.

Figure 4 and Figure 5 are depicting essential embodiments and enabling arrangement of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described so that best enabling arrangements of the invention can be explained through all possible embodiments and examples of it. The invention may have application to all kind of motorcycles.
Figure 1 shows a side view of a concerned two wheeled vehicle in the form of a scooter capable to incorporate the present invention. The scooter 100 comprises a front portion F and a rear portion R connected through a floor board 005.
Front portion F of the scooter 100 has a head lamp assembly 001 fixed over a steering assembly 103. Said steering assembly is connected to head tube 102 of the frame and said head tube 102 is connected to the front suspension 101 of the scooter 100.
Mentioned front suspension 101 is fixed with the centre of the front wheel 004 and whole assembly formed by front suspension 101, head tube 102 and steering assembly 103 is covered by a front panel 002 of the scooter 100 on the front side and with a rear cover 104 of the front panel 002 from the back side. Upper part of the front wheel 004 is covered with a front fender 003 which is acting as a mud guard for front portion F of the scooter 100.
Further, rear portion R of the vehicle is defined by a set of rear panels 008, 015 and 009 forming a covered space for housing engine 106 and transmission
assembly 105 inside this covered space. Said transmission assembly 105 is transferring power from engine 106 to rear wheel 007 to facilitate movement of the scooter 100.
Said rear wheel 007 is connected with a rear suspension system (not shown in figure) which is fixed with rear part of the frame (not shown in figure) of the scooter 100. This rear portion of the scooter 100 is supported by a centre stand 006 such that it is fixed with the lower part of the crankcase of the engine 106.
Further, as mentioned, set of rear panels 008, 009, 015 are forming a mounting space for a storage box 014 such that a seat (not shown in figure) can be mounting above it. A fuel tank (not shown in figure) is mounted inside the covered space formed by rear panels 008, 009, 015 such that fuel filling area/ fuel cap 107 is located at the space between the storage box 014 and tail lamp assembly 010 of the scooter 100. Said fuel cap 107 along with visible fuel tank is covered with a fuel tank cover such that only fuel cap 107 is visible from outside.
Mentioned storage box 014 and fuel tank cover 012 are fixed with the scooter 100 frame preferably through screw mounting. Said storage box 014 and fuel tank cover 012 are also fixed with each other at a joint 013 such that there is no space between the two.
In the existing design, said embodiments are fixed with each other either through snap fit arrangement or by screw fastening. In due course of time, a nonuniform gap is created between the engaging sides 012a, 014a of the storage box 014 and the fuel tank cover 012.
Figure 2 to Figure 5 are describing a novel mechanism for fixing fuel tank cover 012 and storage box 014 with each other that is capable of solving above mentioned issue. As shown in above mentioned Figures, engaging side 012a of fuel tank cover 012 and engaging side 014a of storage box 014 are facing each other and connected at the joint 013.
Said engaging side 012a of fuel tank 012 has multiple engaging hooks 013f, 013g, 013h having outward protrusions 013k, 0131, 013m facing storage box engaging side 014a. Said fuel tank engaging side 012a has few engaging extensions 013i, 013j which are extending upwards preferably in a circular or oval shape. These engaging extensions 013i, 013j are formed such that its circular shape can adjust according of the displacements happening due to external pressure over the storage box 014 or the fuel tank cover 012.
Further, as shown, engaging side 014a of the storage box 014 has receiving sockets 013a, 013b and 013c for corresponding engaging hooks 013f, 013g, and 013h on fuel tank cover engaging side 012a. Mentioned outward protrusions 013k, 0131 and 013m gets coupled with the corresponding receiving sockets 013b, 013c and 013a. At the same time, engaging extensions 013i, 013j gets accommodated in the corresponding receiving slots 013e, 013d present of the engaging side 014a of the storage box 014.
Above described mounting arrangement facilitates multiple mounting positions (A, B, C, D, E) which are at regular intervals on the joint 013 formed between the storage box 014 and fuel tank cover 012. Said mounting positions (A, B, C, D, E) have specific mounting arrangements such that towards the ends and at centre of
the joint 013, firm connections (013h,013b), (013g,013c) and (013a,013f) of engaging hooks 013f, 013g,013h and receiving socket 013a,013c,013b are
established.
In the space formed between said connections (013h,013b), (013g,013c) and (013a,013f), circular or oval shaped engaging extensions 013i, 013j are fixed with receiving slots 013d, 013e and maintain a uniform joint 013 between the two engaging sides 014a, 012a.
Any external pressure on storage box 014 and fuel tank cover 012 in opposite directions push them apart and a gap starts forming between engaging sides 014a, 012a of storage box 014 and fuel tank cover 012. In that case mentioned circular shaped engaging extensions 013i, 013j adjusts their position within the provided receiving slots 013e, 013d. Hence maximum freedom of displacement for both engaging sides 014a, 012a is defined by the area of receiving slots 013e, 013d and a uniform joint 013 can be maintained between the fuel tank cover 012 and the storage box 014.
