Abstract: The invention is a sugar based Polymer Surfactant based on Sugar, organic acids and catalyst. Various parameters like mole ratios, temperature, order of addition have been studied. They have been optimised to get Polymer which will give maximum detergency and stain removing properties. The Polymer has been investigated by Infrared, N.M.R. and mass spectroscopy and then presence of Ester, Ether and free acid groups and Alcohol has been confirmed. The desired H.L.B. ration has been achieved. The invention will successfully replace 50-70% acid slurry with this Polymer.
Claims:1. The mode of getting the final component (the sugar polymer) that is the product of sugar, water, citric acid, sodium bisulphate and borox in the specific order.
2. That the novel sugar polymer invented can be manufactured and supplied as such or in neutralised form.
3. The applicability of the invention as it a substitute for acid slurry and can be used in powder, liquid cake detergent & cleaners like toilet, floor & glass cleaners.
4. Major present Active materials are based on crude petroleum products like acid slurry or A.O.C. we are replacing 50% to 70% of this product with vegitable origin sigar. This will help in generating value added products from sugar which will sugar industries and sugar cane grower. , Description:The present invention is a sugar based polymer which is a composition/ combination of various elements and components which includes
1. 62% sugar which being a combination of glucose and fructose,
2. 25% Water,
3. 10% Citric Acid,
4. 2% Sodium bisulphate and
5. 1% Borox.
The invention is a eco-friendly and biodegradable product based on sugar and is a replacement to Acid Slurry (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonate) or Alpha olefin sulphonate which have a base of crude petroleum. The mentioned ingredients play a major role in our detergent industry. The present invention is a value added product of sugar and the process of manufacturing the polymer is easy, less time consuming and safe as compared to manufacture of acid slurry.
The process of making the polymer begins by heating water between the range of 90 to 100 degree Celsius then slowly adding citric acid, borox and Sodium bisulphate while constantly stiring the said solution. With the constant stirring and maintaining the above mentioned temperature sugar will be added. As the step of addition of all the components will be over the solution will then be heated till 115 to 120 degree Celsius for 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours and during this the chemical reaction of polymerization through esterification and etherification will take place which will be continued till the desired acidic value and viscosity is reached. The polymer can be prepared in two forms as per the requirement of the client. The Physiochemical properties as decided between manufacturer and client will as follows:
a. Acidic value = between 110 to 120 milligrams / gram of sample
b. 300 to 325 seconds by ford no. 4 @ 30 degree centigrade
c. Percentage of solids = 76 to 78 of final polymer
