Synchronized Braking System For Two Wheeled Vehicles

Abstract: The present subject matter relates to synchronized braking system for two-wheeled vehicles. In one embodiment, a synchronized braking system (100) for a two-wheeled vehicle is described. The synchronized braking system (100) comprises a front wheel brake (112), and a rear wheel brake (114). A synchronized brake lever (102) mounted on the two-wheeled vehicle is coupled to the front wheel brake (112) through a synchronized front brake cable (110) and to the rear wheel brake (114) through a rear brake cable (106) to actuate the front wheel brake (112) and the rear wheel brake (114) during operation. A delay mechanism (116) to substantially delay the actuation of the front wheel brake (112) when the synchronized front brake cable (110) is actuated by the synchronized brake lever (102) is provided.

Specification

CLIAMS:1. A synchronized braking system (100) for a two-wheeled vehicle, the synchronized braking system (100) comprising:
a front wheel brake (112);
a rear wheel brake (114);
a synchronized brake lever (102) mounted on the two-wheeled vehicle, coupled to the front wheel brake (112) through a synchronized front brake cable (110) and to the rear wheel brake (114) through a rear brake cable (106), to actuate the front wheel brake (112) and the rear wheel brake (114) during operation; and
a delay mechanism (116) to substantially delay the actuation of the front wheel brake (112), when the synchronized front brake cable (110) is actuated by the synchronized brake lever (102).

The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the delay mechanism (116) comprises a delay spring (208) abutted against a first stopper (210) for delaying the transmission of braking force to the front wheel brake (112), wherein the delay spring (208) substantially delays transmission of braking force till attaining a predetermined compressed position, when actuated by the synchronized brake lever (102).

The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the delay mechanism (116) comprises a compensator spring (214) disposed on the synchronized front brake cable (110) between an outer flange (206-3) and a supporting flange (206-2), to reduce the transmission of excessive braking force to the front wheel brake (112) after the actuating arm (202) reaches a cut-off position.
4. The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the delay mechanism (116) comprises an actuating arm (202) coupled to the synchronized front brake cable (110), wherein actuation of the actuating arm (202) transmits braking force to the front wheel brake (112).
5. The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the braking system (100) further comprises a front brake lever (104) mounted on the vehicle and coupled to the front wheel brake (112) through an independent front brake cable (108) to actuate the front wheel brake (112).
6. The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1 or 5, wherein the synchronized front brake cable (110) and the independent front brake cable (108) are coupled to the actuating arm (202) and pins (402, 404).
7. The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 2, wherein the first stopper (210) initiates depression of an actuating arm (202) to transmit braking force to the front wheel brake (112), when the predetermined compressed position is attained.

The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein the synchronized braking system (100) further comprises an inner flange (206-1), wherein the inner flange (206-1) gets compressed against an inner stopper (212) when the actuating arm (202) is disposed substantially parallel to a stationary arm (204).

The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the delay mechanism (116) further comprises a second insert (410) mounted on the independent front brake cable (108), to prevent direct contact of the actuating arm (202) and the pin (404) with the independent front brake cable (108).

The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the delay mechanism (116) further comprises a first insert (408) mounted on the synchronized front brake cable (110), to prevent direct contact of the actuating arm (202) and the pin (402) with the synchronized front brake cable (110).

The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the delay mechanism (116) further comprises a second check nut (414) mounted on the independent front brake cable (108) abutting a second stopper (406), to prevent free rotation of the second stopper (406) when the synchronized front brake cable (110) is actuated.

The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the delay mechanism (116) further comprises a first check nut (412) mounted on the synchronized front brake cable (110) abutting a first stopper (210), to prevent free rotation of the first stopper (210) when the independent front brake cable (108) is actuated.
13. The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1 or 5, wherein the synchronized brake lever (102) and the front brake lever (104) are mounted on a handlebar (103) of the vehicle.

14. The synchronized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the synchronized brake lever (102) is disposed on chassis of the vehicle. ,TagSPECI:As Attached
