System And Method For Advanced Fuel Adaptation For Bifuel Cng Application In Off Idle Conditions

Abstract: A system (100) and a method (400) for controlling fuel supply during off idling conditions in a bi-fuel (BF) vehicle, the system (100) comprising a front oxygen sensor (110) to sense oxygen content in exhaust gases emitted by an engine (204) during the off idle hot condition or the off idle cold condition of the engine of the vehicle, respectively; and a rear oxygen sensor (112) to sense oxygen content in the exhaust gases treated by a catalytic converter (208) during the off idle hot condition or the off idle cold condition of the engine of the vehicle, respectively; and a BF electronic control unit (ECU) (106), coupled to the front oxygen sensor (110) and the rear oxygen sensor (112), to receive oxygen content signals from the front oxygen sensor (110) and the rear oxygen sensor (112) during the off idle hot condition or the off idle cold condition of the engine of the vehicle, respectively; retrieve an oxygen-adapted fuel amount stored in the learning database (106C) based on oxygen contents indicated by the oxygen content signals; control a plurality of injectors (108) connected to the fuel rail for supplying the fuel based on the retrieved oxygen-adapted fuel amount to maintain the set stoichiometric air-to-fuel ratio.
