, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates to methods for automatically generating recommended links. The present invention more particularly relates to the collection of data associated with web activities and the automatic generation of recommended links based upon the collected data.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Internet is also described as the worldwide publicly accessible network of interconnected computer networks that transmit data by packet switching using the standard Internet Protocol (IP). Internet is the transport vehicle for the information stored in files or documents on another computer. It carries together various information and services, such as electronic mail, online chat, file transfer, and the interlinked Web pages and other documents of the World Wide Web. The Internet can make it difficult to locate specific information on a given topic.
While the amount of information accessible via the Internet is daunting, users often return to the same website on a regular basis. A user may choose to create a readily-accessible link to the website by adding a ''bookmark" to a bookmark list to reduce the time it takes to access a given website.
By adding bookmark to the website, the user may return to the desired website very quickly and easily. Users prefer to take content from the same website. So they are not aware of the newly created websites. So there is a need for providing webpages/website having user’s interested content automatically based upon the data collected by the user.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
The main object of the present invention is to provide links for webpages to the user automatically based upon the data collected by the user.
Yet another object of the present invention is to reduce the amount of time that a web page user requires to manage and view web pages.
Other objects and benefits of the present invention will be more apparent from the following description, which is not intended to bind the scope of the present invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
Accordingly, a system and method for automatic generation of recommended links for a user is disclosed. The system for the automatic generation of recommended links comprising of; Display screen; A computer system; and A communication system such as internet; wherein the display screen is for displaying the information to users via computer system using the internet. The recommended webpage links are divided into categories like related websites, most visited websites (interested websites), frequently visited websites. The recommended links are provided to the user via one of the webpage accessed by the user; an e-mail message; and as part of a list of bookmarks associated with the user. Recommended links are sent to the user only after removal of duplicate recommended links.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS:
Fig 1 shows the system and method for the automatic generation of recommended links based upon the collected data.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention is a system and method for the automatic generation of recommended links based upon the collected data. The present invention reduces the amount of time that a web page user requires to manage and view web pages and recommend selected webpages according to user’s interest.
The present invention is a system for the automatic generation of recommended links based upon the collected data.
In one embodiment, the system for the automatic generation of recommended links comprising of: display screen; a computer system; and a communication system such as internet.
In another embodiment, a method for the automatic generation of recommended links by the website comprising the steps of; viewing the content of user; analyzing the content; sending a subsequent request for the web page from the web site using the stored content data; automatically generating webpage links; displaying webpage links to user based on his/her content, Wherein the priorities and interests of user are considered while displaying the webpage links to the user.
The display screen system stores all the information related to the content. Website often keeps watch on the webpages which are opened by the user and plays a major role in watching the content which is viewed by the user. The website analyzes the content based on the subject of the webpages opened by the user. A subsequent request is sent to the user for the web page from the web site using the stored content data. The various webpage links relative the subject content of the user are displayed to him. The priorities and interests of user are considered while displaying the webpage links to the user.
The computer system sends request to the website in response of the stored control information. A subsequent request for webpage links is sent to the user for the web page from the web site using the stored content data. The various webpage links relative the subject content of the user are displayed to him.
A user can learn about the website from personal recommendations made by sending advertisements /emails. The recommended sites are of particular interest to the user. The present invention provides recommended sites to user which may be of his/her interest. The present invention enables a set of websites, web pages, or resources (which may be represented by a URL, hyperlink, or other mapping technique) to be recommended to a user as recommended links.
There are a wide variety of categories and types of information that might be of interest to a user. Therefore, a wide variety of heuristics may be used to obtain the recommended links. For example, if a user has looked at several websites that can be categorized in a particular field, it may be useful to present the user with recommended links to other popular websites within that field. In another example, if a user regularly visits a particular website, it might be useful to provide direct links to those sites among the recommended links. For example, if a user regularly checks one set of specific sites on weekday mornings and another set of specific sites in the evenings, it might be most useful to include the sites that are normally checked in the morning among the recommended links when they are presented in the morning, but not in the evening.
The recommended links are divided into categories depending upon the classes of recommendations like related websites, most visited websites(interested websites), frequently visited websites.
"Related Websites" are arranged to analyze a user's browsing history to identify websites that are perceived to be related to websites the user has recently visited. By tracking a history of websites that the user has visited and then identifying other sites that are believed to be "related" to the websites that have been visited, these things can be concluded. If a particular website is related to more than one of the sites that the user has recently visited, then it may be of interest to the user. (Interested websites).Frequently visited sites that include sites that the user has frequently visited.
The recommended links are similar to the website content which the user has previously visited. Each category page being arranged to identify websites that are categorized in a category that includes at least one website that the user has previously visited. The recommended links are provided to the user via one of the webpage accessed by the user; an e-mail message; and as part of a list of bookmarks associated with the user. The browsing history is tracked by sending at least some page turn information to a history server while the user is browsing, and wherein the user is identified by an IP address. A user profile is created on the website and the information like gender, age, race, geographic location, employer, school, organization affiliation, interests, e-mail provider and birthplace is saved with the website. The recommended links include filtering criteria which includes removal of duplicate recommended links.
