SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING TRESPASSING BELOW A PARKED VEHICLE

PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES THE NATURE OF THIS INVENTION.


FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates generally to a warning system for detecting
trespassing below parked vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
It is a natural tendency of living beings to look for shelter in summer days or rainy
seasons. Where there are no trees or any other shade, living beings take shelter
under the parked vehicle even if it is unsafe. This tendency is commonly
observed in constructions workers sleeping below the parked truck. Also pet
animals find taking shelter below the parked vehicle. It is also observed while
playing, children hide below the parked vehicle. Therefore, driver of the parked
vehicle has to take care of this by having a look under the parked vehicle before
starting the vehicle. However, there have been unfortunately several reports of
killing of children, labors, and pet animals when driver of the vehicle started the
vehicle without seeing below the vehicle despite any amount of training or
counseling.
Though the situations as mentioned above occur rarely, the consequences of
such situations are always tragic.

embodiments and to explain various principles and advantages all in accordance
with the present invention.
Fig 1 illustrates a block diagram of a system for detecting trespassing below a
parked vehicle in accordance with embodiments of the present invention;
Fig 2 illustrates an arrangement of a sensor system according one embodiment
of the system wherein

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to provide a system to detect trespassing
below a parked vehicle.
An aspect of the invention, the method includes detecting presence of an entity
below the parked vehicle and thereafter generating a warning, an alert for the
user of the parked vehicle to prevent a potential hazardous situation.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the system to detect
trespassing comprises a sensor module to cover periphery below the vehicle to
detect the trespassing and a warning module configured to the sensor module to
issue alert about trespassing below the vehicle.
Fig 1 shows a system for detecting trespassing below a parked vehicle in
accordance with embodiments of the present invention.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the sensor module comprises
atleast one set of the emitter and receiver operating on infrared or similar to
cover one side of the vehicle connected to a controller. Generally, the emitters
and receivers are adapted at each corner of the vehicle to cover the periphery
below the vehicle. As shown in Fig 2A and 2B sensors adapted below the
chassis in closed circuit around the periphery of the vehicle at a suitable height
for the detection of trespassing.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the warning module comprises an
alert mean to issue an alert and a controller to take input from the sensor module
and activate the alarm when a predetermined condition exists and a switch
adapted in the diver's cabin to switch-off the alert. The predetermined condition


exists when an entity tries to enter below the parked vehicle and cut the infrared
or similar connectivity between the transmitter and receiver.
According to the present invention, the alert means may issue an alert in terms of
an alarm and/or a signal in the users cabin.
According to present invention, the alarm can be a horn of the vehicle that
generates a sound, which may be different from a regular sound such as anti
theft sound, police van siren, siren of ambulance or barking of dog etc. The alarm
can be adjusted to generate sound continuously or intermittently.
According to the present invention, the signal can be a visual indicator on a
dashboard of the vehicle optionally accompanies by an audible alarm.
According to another embodiment of the present invention, the system may
comprise an ignition module adapted to connect the switch of the warning
module to the ignition of vehicle disabling the user to start the vehicle without
switch-off the signal or alarm when predetermined condition exists.
According to yet another embodiment of the invention, the system may comprise
a door module adapted to connect the microcontroller of the warning module to
the alert means through a door of the vehicle enabling to activate the alarm or
signal when the user of the vehicle opens or try to open the door. Alternatively,
the door module may have connection to a lock of the door of the vehicle.
According to the present invention, the preferable door is a user's cabin door.
According to further embodiment of the present invention, the system may
comprises a disabler circuit adapted between the ignition of the vehicle and
controller of the warning module to active the system when the vehicle is in
parked condition or the ignition of the vehicle is switched-off.
According to the present invention, the entity can be a human being or animal
being and the user can be a driver or a person present in the vehicle.


While the invention has been described with reference to an exemplary embodiment, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes may be made and equivalents may be substituted for elements such as sending wireless message to the user of the vehicle, adapting cc camera below the vehicle etc. thereof without departing from the scope of the invention. In addition, many modifications may be made to adapt a particular situation or material to the teachings of the invention without departing from the essential scope thereof.
