FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to improvements in enabling enterprises to manage their master data in an IT (Information Technology) system to engage external domain consultants and take their managing master data, enterprise data across IT systems.
BACKGROUND
Due to rapidly changing technology trends, every product in every industry keeps updated very frequently, mostly in days. Every enterprise has to constantly update its master data pertaining to their product's bill of materials, vendors, assets, spares etc. The master data updation and approval business process should be optimized to meet the short turnaround time demanded by todays' market conditions. Critical Inputs from Domain Experts who are external to the enterprise has to be incorporated into the master data management business process itself.
Master Data Management Software tools also have been evolving rapidly to meet these evolving business requirements..
Like in US7660782B2 where Master data management and information exchange (MIX) architecture includes a technology agnostic framework that unifies sharing and management of master data across repositories, data formats and applications in an enterprise. The MIX architecture comprises at least one master data store which stores and updates master data for said enterprise; a management parameter store which assists in providing technology agnostic architecture for an adaptive extensible framework for unified master data; and, a unified interface for enabling master data discovery, sharing and use across the enterprise, wherein the unified interface comprises management interface, inbound interface and outbound interface. The MIX architecture might additionally include a data integration component, data quality component, and an abstraction layer. The present architecture enables extended MDM enterprise deployment and can be implemented as a stand alone solution or as an MDM veneer over existing applications without affecting overall system behaviour and is technology independent.
In US8458148B2 an improved data governance solutions to enterprise-level master data storage hubs are provided by implementing data governance functionality across the operational systems, analytical systems, and master data hubs of an enterprise. Data governance functionality is provided across the systems and hubs of an enterprise by providing visibility into the operational data, analytical data, and master data of an enterprise, by providing visibility into the data quality measuring processes that have been executed on the operational and analytical data, and by providing functionality for correcting fragmented, inconsistent, and erroneous information within operational and analytical data.
In US20120198036A1, cloud based service architecture is used in providing Master Data Management (MDM) services to clients. The MDM cloud based architecture comprises a cliënt architecture and a server architecture. The cliënt architecture includes synchronization services that are used to interact with the MDM cloud based service. The server architecture comprises a public Application Programming Interface (API) and a portal for accessing different MDM functionality. For example, a cliënt may access the server architecture to create/modify MDM workflows that are hosted by the cloud based service. The cloud based service architecture also provides access to different MDM services including MDM workflows, validation, transformation, and storage relating to master data. The cloud based architecture may be used to publish master data and/or subscribe to master data.
In spite of these efforts to provide useful master data management software, master data in an enterprise gets outdated often. It also gets duplicated making it difficult to create Consolidated views of business performance across the enterprise. Inefficiencies in Master Data Management Business Process due to inability to take quick decisions by intermediate level and operational level business managers is a key issue. These delays are caused mostly due to insufficiënt information to make right and rapid decisions.
It is therefore desirable to provide a single, complete data governance solution for an enterprise. It is further desirable that the data governance solution allow consistent data governance functionality across all systems and hubs of an enterprise, thereby allowing viewing data flows, and identifying and correcting data quality issues across all systems and overcome the problems identified in above prior arts.
Ability to harness the expertise of external consultants and domain experts in deciding the right data values for materials, assets and spares is mission critical for successful master data management. The effectiveness and turnaround time of the Master Data Management tooi will be improved if the tooi implementation Process Automation for stages which involve manual intervention.
