, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention discloses the system and method for improving motor skills of patient by using virtual reality technology. In particular, it is related to therapy of patient.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A stroke is a sudden interruption in the blood supply of the brain. Most strokes are caused by an abrupt blockage of arteries leading to the brain (ischemic stroke). Other strokes are caused by bleeding into brain tissue when a blood vessel bursts (haemorrhagic stroke).
Sports injuries refer to the kinds of injury that occur during sports or exercise. While it is possible to injure any part of the body when playing sports, the term sports injuries is commonly used to refer to injuries of the musculoskeletal system. In above two condition, the survival of both are advice to improve their motor skill for fast recoveries.
Stroke causes weakness and or paralysis in about 75% of stroke survivors. This can cause difficulties with activities of daily living such as getting dressed, eating and bathing. Having to depend on others to assist with activities of daily living can get frustrating but with the correct rehabilitation techniques, considerable progress can be made. Sport injuries survival may have some problems like strokes. Research has shown that the three most important ways for stroke survivors to recover fine motor skills is performing repetitive hand and arm exercises, performing fine motor control exercises and performing repetitive task specific training exercises.
A motor skill is simply an action that involves patients body using his muscles. Gross motor skills are larger movements patients body makes with his arms, legs, feet, or his entire body. So, crawling, running, and jumping are gross motor skills. Fine motor skills are smaller actions.
As technology become more and more advanced, it tries to give solutions to each and every problem. The present invention discloses the system and method for improving motor skills of patient by using virtual reality technology.
The invention application will allow patients to improve motor skill by using virtual reality application.
Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds. Virtual reality is a simulated experience that can be similar to or completely different from the real world. Applications of virtual reality can include entertainment and educational purposes. Other, distinct types of VR style technology include augmented reality and mixed reality.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the invention is, the system and method for improving motor skills of patients by using virtual reality technology.
Another object of the invention is, Virtual reality enabled devices are needed (such as VR headset, and other handy device).
Other object of the invention is, virtual workstation is created for patient.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention discloses the system and method for improving motor skills of patients by using virtual reality technology. The invention application is installed at backend server. The application is designed in a such a way that it creates virtual scene and situation for patient for motor skills development. The virtual scene includes various brain games and exercise which help to improve motor skill of patient. Patient wear Virtual reality enabled headset. Virtual reality enabled headset is connected with backend server. As patient wear headset, he can see various brain games and exercise. With the help of headset and other device hold in hand, patient can perform exercise and play brain game.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig 1 shows flowchart of the method and computer program for this invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention discloses the system and method for improving motor skills of patient by using virtual reality technology.
The present invention system and method for improving motor skills of patient is comprising of components such as;
Virtual reality enabled headset
Virtual reality enabled hand device for grip
Backend server – the application of improving motor skills of patient is installed
Wi-Fi modem - for connectivity between backend server and virtual reality enabled devices such as headset and hand device
The present invention implemented in a combination of both hardware and software. The present invention discloses the system and method for improving motor skills of patient by using virtual reality technology is comprising of;
Step 1) The improving motor skills of patient application is installed at backend server
Step 2) VR enabled headset and hand device is connected with backend server
Step 3) Patient wear VR enabled headset and hold the VR enabled device in hand
Step 4) Virtual reality headset and virtual reality application stimulate virtual scene for patient for motor skill improvement
Step 5) Patient perform exercise and brain game in virtual reality world
This is general overview of system. System is not bounded to this only.
Here by using this invention patient who has stroke or sport injury can perform motor skill task improvement to gain muscle strength and confidence for doing that.
Research has shown that the three most important ways for stroke survivors to recover fine motor skills is performing repetitive hand and arm exercises, performing fine motor control exercises and performing repetitive task specific training exercises.
The advantages of the presented invention are as follows;
The ability to change the virtual environment relatively easily, to grade task difficulty and to adapt it according to the patient's capabilities are important advantages of VR, since these features are essential to cognitive and motor remediation.
It can be carried out in a safe environment rather than on real world, which in extreme cases, could put the patient at risk through the adoption of defensive reaction while performing exercise.
It is also useful to sport person who has sport injury.
Take an example of this invention, suppose patient had stroke in past. And his one side of body have weakness, so he cannot move that one side properly. So with this invention, by wearing just headset and holding hand device, patient can experience the virtual scene of motor skill games and exercise. Now with the help of headset and hand device patient tries for exercise. Patient motor skill would be improved without taking any risk to him.
Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds.
