Abstract: System and method for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology is disclosed, comprising of airplane maintenance application; augmented reality enabled electronic device; wireless communication module, drawing of airplane which has to be repaired and backend server. The invention application used for maintenance of an airplane with the help of augmented reality technology which creates augmented view of an airplane which shown all small parts of machine and provide standard value or level of all small parts of airplane machines.

Claims:We claim:
1) The system for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology is comprising of:
a. Any augmented reality enabled electronic device – used to help the maintenance team in the maintenance of an airplane;
b. Application of airplane maintenance – used for help in maintenance of an airplane;
c. The drawing of airplane which has to be check for maintenance;
d. Backend server – Application and data is stored; and
e. Wireless communication module – used for connectivity between augmented reality enabled device and backend server.
wherein, through augmented reality enabled device the said application can be accessed through which the said user get help in maintenance of an airplane.
2) The method for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology is comprising the steps of:
a) Installing maintenance of an airplane application at backend server;
b) Connecting any augmented reality enabled electronic device to backend server through wireless communication module;
c) Positioning maintenance team member in front of any airplane machine for which maintenance is planned;
d) Showing maintenance team member, the small parts of airplane machines in Augmented reality enabled device;
e) Suggesting the standard value of every small machine of airplane.
3) The system claimed in claim 1, wherein the real time airplane maintenance is to be done within a short time.
4) The method claimed in claim 2, wherein it shows the all included small machine part of an airplane on the augmented reality enabled device screen.
5) The method claimed in claim 2, wherein it suggests standard value of every small machine of airplane.
6) The system claimed in claim 1, wherein it reduces future down time of airplane.
7) The system claimed in claim 1, wherein it increases airplane productivity as maintenance of an airplane is done on time and with proper standard method.
, Description:Field of the invention:
The present invention is related generally to aviation sector, and more particularly to the system and method for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology.
Background of the invention:
An aircraft is type of vehicle which is able to fly with gaining support from the air. Examples of aircraft is airplanes, paramotors, helicopters, airships, gliders and hot air balloons. The human activity which surrounds aircraft is called as aviation.
Airplane maintenance is the process which is needed to ensure the continuing airworthiness of an airplane or its part and which includes inspection, compliance with airworthiness directives, overhaul and if required repairing also.
Airplane must be maintained regularly to ensure that airplane is very safe for every time it flies. Regular maintenance extends the life of an airplane. Planned regular maintenance of an airplane avoids lost flight due to engine failure.
There are a system having airplane maintenance related inventions, which are patented, are listed below.
US patent application US6671593B2 by Barry Sinex discloses Dynamic aircraft maintenance production system. A dynamic aircraft maintenance production system for planning a maintenance check of an aircraft includes means for obtaining any routine tasks that may exist and which are required to be performed on the aircraft, means for obtaining any non-routine tasks that may exist and which are required to be performed on the aircraft, means for generating a maintenance flow chart detailing scheduling data for each of the routine and non-routine tasks, means for assigning a user-determined number of the routine and non-routine tasks to personnel for completion, means for maintenance activity data on each assigned routine task and non-routine task, means for available resource data, and means for updating the maintenance flow chart to reflect newly-obtained maintenance activity data and available resource data.
US patent application US9747564B1 by Fong Shi discloses Aircraft maintenance and inspection with data analytics enhancement. A system and method for analysing aircraft operation and maintenance history in light of maintenance reports, aircraft type system failure history, health management reports, and aircraft exterior structural conditions to produce a real time recommendation regarding aircraft maintenance and dispatch. A visual inspection report is generated by capturing a real time image of an exterior of the aircraft, inverting the real time image, superimposing the real time image on a previous image of the aircraft exterior, and detecting any variation on the combination of superimposed inverted image on the previous image of the aircraft exterior. Aircraft type historical systems failure reports are analysed to identify any predictive latent system failure of the aircraft based on the aircraft type historical systems failure report and aircraft operation history and maintenance history.
European patent application EP0407179A1 by Lionel Stuart Barry, Michael Eugene Cogan discloses Aircraft health and usage monitoring systems. The disclosure relates to an aircraft health and usage monitoring system comprising a computer system (D.A.P.U.) for processing data relating to both flight profiles and selected indicators (SENSORS) of health and usage of an aircraft and means to monitor the flight profile and the selected indicators to supply corresponding data to the computer system. The computer system has predetermined thresholds therein in respect of the selected indicators and is arranged to record the duration and extent by which any threshold is exceeded in use of the aircraft. The indicators of the health and usage of the aircraft are selected from the following: engine health, transmission health, airframe health, aircraft systems health.
US patent application US20030135310A1 by Barry Bangert, Ralph Hawkins discloses Aircraft engine reliability business model. A business model algorithm for maintaining aircraft engines in reliable and safe operating condition without the necessity of performing major engine overhaul in which engine manufacturers' maintenance procedures are enhanced and performed more frequently and supplemented by engine trend analysis, engine oil analysis, engine vibration analysis, borescope inspection and computer algorithm forecasting to identify, repair, and/or replace engine components without necessity of major engine overhaul.
Though the prior art patent discloses Dynamic aircraft maintenance production system, Aircraft maintenance and inspection with data analytics enhancement, Aircraft health and usage monitoring systems and Aircraft engine reliability business model, they do not give any perfect solution for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology.
Augmented reality (AR) technology is a type of interactive, reality-based display environment which have capabilities of computer-generated display, text, sound and effects to enhance the user’s real-world experience.
Object of the invention:
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology where user/team member would do maintenance of an airplane with the help of augmented reality technology.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for maintenance of an airplane where the real time maintenance of an airplane would be done within a short time.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for maintenance of an airplane where it would show the all included small machine part of an airplane on the augmented reality enabled device screen.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for maintenance of an airplane where it would suggest standard value of every small machine of airplane.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for maintenance of an airplane where it would reduce future down time of airplane.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for maintenance of an airplane where it would increase airplane productivity as maintenance of an airplane would be done on time and with proper standard method.
Summary of the invention:
The present invention discloses a system and method for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology. The system for maintenance of an airplane is comprising of;
Any augmented reality enabled electronic device – used to help the maintenance team in the maintenance of an airplane;
Application of airplane maintenance – used for help in maintenance of an airplane;
The drawing of airplane which has to be check for maintenance;
Backend server – Application and data is stored; and
Wireless communication module – used for connectivity between augmented reality enabled device and backend server.
According to the present invention, maintenance of an airplane application would be installed at backend server. Any augmented reality enabled electronic device would be connected to the backend server through the wireless communication module. Maintenance team member would move in front of any machine of an airplane. Maintenance team member would see the small parts of airplane machines in augmented realty enabled device. The present application would suggest the standard value of every small machine of airplane.

Detailed description of the invention:
The present invention discloses a system and method for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology.
Augmented reality is used to explore an enhanced view of real life by overlaying computer-generated content. This content includes video, 3D models, dynamic web content. This can be triggered by an image, a location or combination of both.
The main aim of augmented reality technology is to create a system in such way that the user cannot differentiate the real world and the virtual augmentation of it. Augmented reality is now trend in various industries such as military training, entertainment, engineering design, robotics, manufacturing and now in aviation also.
Fig.1 illustrates the system for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology is comprising of contents;
Any augmented reality enabled electronic device – used to help the maintenance team in the maintenance of an airplane;
Application of airplane maintenance – used for help in maintenance of an airplane;
The drawing of airplane which has to be check for maintenance;
Backend server – Application and data is stored; and
Wireless communication module – used for connectivity between augmented reality enabled device and backend server.
Fig. 1 illustrates the system of maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology and it is used for maintenance of an airplane with the help of augmented reality technology. According to the present invention, maintenance of an airplane application is installed at backend server. Any augmented reality enabled electronic device is connected to the backend server through the wireless communication module. Maintenance team member is move in front of any machine of an airplane for which maintenance is planned. Maintenance team member can see the small parts of airplane machines in augmented realty enabled device. The present application suggests the standard value of every small machine of airplane which provides help to maintenance team to achieve their standard value of particular machine and its service.
Fig. 2 illustrates the method for maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology is comprising of the steps are as;
Step 1) Airplane Maintenance application is installed at backend server
Step 2) Any augmented reality enabled electronic device is connected to backend server through wireless communication module
Step 3) Maintenance team member move in front of any machine of an airplane for which maintenance is planned
Step 4) Maintenance team member can see the small parts of airplane machines in Augmented reality enabled device
Step 5) Application suggests the standard value of every small machine which combinedly together forms an airplane machine
As per present invention the main focus of this invention application is maintenance of an airplane by using augmented reality technology. An airplane is the combination of two or more simple and small machine which work combinedly to make an airplane with smooth run. To run operation of an airplane smoothly all included small machine parts should worked properly. Planned maintenance is the preventive method to run an airplane properly without any problem. The maintenance team inspect all parts of machine and do repairing or replacement if needed. Here augmented reality plays important role. Backend server is provided with diagram of design of an airplane which has planned maintenance. Maintenance team member wear augmented reality enabled device. Maintenance team member go to an airplane for which maintenance is planned. When maintenance team member look into machines of an airplane, the all small simple machine is seen to him/her. Maintenance team member can know what is the condition of every small part of machine and what is the current reading of that particular small machine. Invention application suggests the standard value of every small machine which combinedly together forms an airplane machine.
The present invention implemented as a combination of both hardware and software.
There are some advantages of the present invention such as;
It is time saving. Before this invention, the maintenance team member face very difficult to check an airplane for maintenance which is very hectic job. Team member has to check every time a sheet for the standard values of small machine parts which is really a hectic job. The present invention suggests real time maintenance of an airplane. It shows the standard value or level of every small machines which make an easy help to maintenance team member to inspect and repair if needed the small machine parts with the help of augmented reality application. For this process, the machine drawing should be provided to application which is installed at backend server.
Invention application helps to achieve faster mean time to maintenance.
It has higher first-time-fix-rate.
It improves the related uptime of maintenance.
The present system should show the standard value of every small parts of airplane machine which is planned for maintenance.
The present invention can be better understood with the help of examples.
Example 1:
An airplane has a planned maintenance schedule. The maintenance team member goes to the airplane. The said member wear augmented reality enabled device. At backend server, the design of airplane is provided. Maintenance team member can see inner simple machines included into airplane. Maintenance team member can know and identify which part requires replace or repair to make an airplane operation smoothy. Invention application suggest standard value or level of small machine parts included in an airplane machine.
It should be kept in mind that the described embodiment(s) is only presented by way of example and should not be construed as limiting the inventive concept to any particular hardware and software configuration.
The present invention is not limited to components, which is mentioned in the description. Based on the same concept, maintenance of an airplane with augmented reality can be built. Those who are familiar in the art will understand that a number of variations may be made in the disclosed embodiments, all without departing from the scope of the invention, which is defined solely by the appended claims.
