FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] Embodiments of a present invention relate to managing a diet-plan, and more particularly, to a system and method for managing a personalized diet-plan to achieve a goal.
BACKGROUND
[0002] A diet-plan is any strategy used to map out what to eat. This term may refer to following a specific diet, or it may just indicate the process of thinking through what to plan to eat beforehand. In a conventional approach, the diet-plan is a regime prescribed by a nutritionist based on one or more conditions of a user. The one or more conditions can be sensed from various biochemical parameters, lifestyle parameters like how much exercise the user does, smoking and drinking habits, and other environmental factors like the region the user lives, the type of food the user consumes, and the like. Based on the one or more conditions, macronutrients reference values and micronutrient reference values are set. Using these nutrient reference values, the specific diet is prepared for the user by the nutritionist to meet the goal. However, such an approach is time-consuming and prone to error as there is a possibility that the nutritionist can commit a mistake while preparing the diet-plan as humans are prone to error. There is a plurality of approaches including a system to generate the diet-plan for the user upon receiving inputs from the user. However, such an approach generates the diet-plan which is fixed and any change in the daily meals taken by the user results in an imbalance in the nutrient reference values which has an impact on the goal set by the user, thereby making the approach less reliable, less efficient and inflexible.
[0003] Hence, there is a need for an improved system and method for managing a personalized diet-plan to achieve a goal which addresses the aforementioned issues.

[0015] In the following specification and the claims, reference will be made to a number of terms, which shall be defined to have the following meanings. The singular forms “a”, “an”, and “the” include plural references unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.
[0016] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system for managing a personalized diet-plan to achieve a goal. The personalized diet-plan may be defined as a strategy used to map out what to eat in advance. The personalized diet-plan may vary from person to person based on the goal set by the corresponding person. However, following the personalized diet-plan generated by the corresponding person is a difficult task as the person’s lifestyle might not match with the corresponding diet-plan. Thus, the personalized diet-plan may have to be flexible to be able to match or be a part of the lifestyle of the corresponding person. Further, the system as described hereafter in FIG. 1 is the system for managing the personalized diet-plan to achieve the goal.
[0017] FIG. 1 is a block diagram representation of a system (10) for managing a personalized diet-plan to achieve a goal in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The system (10) includes one or more processors (20). In one embodiment, the goal of a user may include reducing weight, gaining weight, becoming physically and mentally fit, maintaining blood sugar levels, building muscle mass, or the like. In such embodiment, a diet followed by the user plays a major role because food consumed by the user may have a huge impact on a mental fitness and a physical fitness of the user. Thus, the user might use the system (10) to generate a personalized diet-plan. However, in one embodiment, the user may have to register on a centralized platform to be able to use the system (10). Thus, in one embodiment, the system (10) also includes a registration subsystem (as shown in FIG. 2) operable by the one or more processors (20). The registration subsystem may be configured to register the user on the centralized platform upon receiving a plurality of user details. In one embodiment, the plurality of user details may include a username, a contact number, email identifier (ID), and the like.
[0018] Further, the system (10) includes a personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) operable by the one or more processors (20). The personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) is operatively coupled to the registration subsystem. The personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) is configured to receive a plurality of inputs from the user upon registering on the centralized platform via a user device (40). In one embodiment, the plurality of inputs may include one of age, gender, one or more biochemical parameters, one or more genetic parameters, one or more lifestyle parameters, one or more cultural parameters, one or more regional parameters, family history, the goal, and the like, or a combination thereof. In one exemplary embodiment, the user device (40) may include a mobile phone, a tablet, a laptop, or the like.
[0019] Further, the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) is also configured to generate a plurality of nutrient reference values required for the user to achieve the goal based on the plurality of inputs received. In one embodiment, the plurality of nutrient reference values may correspond to one of a plurality of macronutrients, a plurality of micronutrients, or a combination thereof. In one exemplary embodiment, the plurality of macronutrients may include larger nutritional categories such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and the like. As used herein, the term “macronutrients” is defined as the nutrients that a body requires in large amounts. The macronutrients provide the body with calories which contributes to the energy of the user. The macronutrients are measured in grams. In one embodiment, the carbohydrates may be found in one or more food items such as bread, pasta, grains, fruits, and the like which provide about four calories per gram. In one embodiment, the fats may be found in the one or more food items such as oils, nuts, meats, and the like which provide about nine calories per gram. Further, in one embodiment, the proteins may be found in the one or more food items such as eggs, fish, tofu, milk, and the like which provide about four calories per gram.
[0020] In one exemplary embodiment, the plurality of micronutrients may include smaller nutritional categories such as calcium, zinc, iron, vitamin B-6, vitamin c, vitamin B-12, vitamin E, and the like. As used herein, the term “micronutrients” is defined as the nutrients that a body requires in smaller amounts. The micronutrients help in the normal growth and development of the human body. There is a plurality of micronutrients found in the one or more food items such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, whole wheat, and the like which may also include the plurality of macronutrients.
[0021] Further, the personalized diet-plan may be generated based on one of the plurality of macronutrients, the plurality of micronutrients, or a combination thereof. Thus, the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) is also configured to generate the personalized diet-plan for the user to follow for attaining the plurality of nutrient reference values generated. The personalized diet-plan includes one or more food items to be consumed by the user consistently. In one embodiment, the one or more food items may include bread, pasta, whole wheat, grains, nuts, oils, fruits, vegetables, and the like contributing to a pre-defined amount of the calories required for the user to achieve the goal.
[0022] Further, the one or more food items included in the personalized diet-plan generated by the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) may remain fixed or rigid and hence any change in the one or more food items to be consumed may affect the plurality nutrient reference values required for the user to achieve the goal. However, based on a type of lifestyle the user is having, the one or more food items the user might be consuming may vary and may not match with the one or more food items listed in the personalized diet-plan generated for the user to follow. For example, the user may have to attain an event, during festivals, certain celebrations, or the like, the user might not be able to stick to the personalized diet-plan generated. During such an occasion, the impact of not sticking to the corresponding personalized diet-plan may have to be known to the user. Thus, the system (10) also includes an adjustment subsystem (50) operable by the one or more processors (20). The adjustment subsystem (50) is operatively coupled to the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30).
[0023] The adjustment subsystem (50) is configured to receive a request from the user to alter at least one of the one or more food items in the personalized diet-plan generated with one or more alternative food items. The adjustment subsystem (50) is also configured to generate a plurality of alternative nutrient reference values required for the user to achieve the goal based on the request received. The adjustment subsystem (50) is also configured to generate an alternative personalized diet-plan for the user to follow for attaining the plurality of alternative nutrient reference values generated.
[0024] For example, suppose the one or more food items listed in the personalized diet-plan of the user for a particular day corresponding to the protein may include eggs and milk. But the user may be willing to consume chicken and tofu on that particular day. Then, the one or more alternative food items may include the chicken and the tofu which may be received by the adjustment subsystem (50) from the user and hence the alternative personalized diet-plan may be generated by the adjustment subsystem (50).
[0025] Further, the system (10) also includes an effort estimation subsystem (60) operable by the one or more processors (20). The effort estimation subsystem (60) is operatively coupled to the adjustment subsystem (50). The effort estimation subsystem (60) is configured to estimate an effort in terms of a count of days required to reach the goal for the user upon following the personalized diet-plan for managing the personalized diet-plan on the centralized platform to achieve the goal.
[0026] In one exemplary embodiment, the goal of the user may be to reduce about seven kilograms (kgs) of the weight. In such embodiment, the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) may generate the personalized diet-plan for the user to follow to reach the goal. Further, the effort estimation subsystem (60) may estimate the effort in terms of the count of days required to reach the goal which maybe about two months or about 60 days. However, the user may also check for the alternative personalized diet-plan upon providing the one or more alternative food items to the adjustment subsystem (50) with the goal being the same.
[0027] Further, the user may need to know the effort required to reach the goal when the user may be following the alternative personalized diet-plan. Thus, in one embodiment, the effort estimation subsystem (60) is also configured to estimate an alternative effort in terms of a count of days required to reach the goal for the user upon following the alternative personalized diet-plan. In one exemplary embodiment, the alternative effort may include about three months or 90 days which may be estimated by the effort estimation subsystem (60) based on the one or more alternative food items included in the alternative personalized diet-plan via the adjustment subsystem (50).
[0028] Furthermore, a deviation may have to be calculated for the user to decide whether to proceed with the alternative personalized diet-plan, to stick to the personalized diet-plan, to proceed with the alternative personalized diet-plan by putting some extra effort to match the alternative effort generated with the effort earlier estimated for the personalized diet-plan, or the like. Thus, in one embodiment, the system (10) also includes a deviation calculation subsystem (as shown in FIG. 2) operable by the one or more processors (20). The deviation calculation subsystem is configured to calculate the deviation in terms of a count of days based on a difference between the effort and the alternative effort estimated by the effort estimation subsystem (60). In one exemplary embodiment, when the effort includes 60 days and the alternative effort includes 90 days, then the deviation may include about one month or about 30 days.
[0029] Further, to avoid such deviation, that is to match the alternative effort generated with the effort earlier estimated for the personalized diet-plan, the user may have to put in the extra effort. In one embodiment the extra effort may correspond to including one or more supplements in the alternative personalized diet-plan which might burn the additional calories which got added because of inclusion of the one or more alternative food items, performing of an exercise to burn the additional calories, one or more supplements in the alternative personalized diet-plan which might add the additional calories which got eliminated because of the inclusion of the one or more alternative food items, or the like.
[0030] FIG. 2 is a block diagram representation of an exemplary embodiment of the system (10) for managing the personalized diet-plan to achieve the goal of FIG. 1 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The system (10) includes the one or more processors (20). A user (70) is over-weight by about 30 kgs. Suppose the current weight of the user (70) is about 100 kgs and because of that the user (70) is suffering from one or more health issues such as a heart problem, imbalance in the blood sugar level, a breathing problem, and the like. Thus, the user (70) is willing to reduce to less than or equal to about 70 kgs which is a recommended weight for user’s height and user’s age. Thus, the user (70) uses the system (10) for managing the personalized diet-plan to achieve the goal of reducing the weight.
[0031] Further, the user (70) registers on the centralized platform via the registration subsystem (80) of the system (10) using a mobile phone (90) of the user (70). As used herein, the term mobile phone (90) is substantially similar to the term user device (40) in FIG. 1. Later, upon registration, the user (70) provides the plurality of inputs to the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) via a user interface. Further, the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) generates the plurality of nutrient reference values required for the user (70) to achieve the goal. Since the goal of the user (70) is to reduce the weight, the plurality of nutrient reference values may correspond to high on proteins and micronutrients, and low on carbohydrates and fats in general. Further, the personalized diet-plan generation subsystem (30) also generates the personalized diet-plan for the user (70) to follow for attaining the plurality of nutrient reference values generated.
[0032] Further, to make a process of reducing the weight of the user (70) more flexible such that the process matches with the lifestyle of the user (70), the adjustment subsystem (50) of the system (10) generates the alternative personalized diet-plan upon receiving the one or more alternative food items from the user (70). Later, the effort in terms of the count of days required to reach the goal when the user (70) follows the personalized diet-plan is estimated by the effort estimation subsystem (60) of the system (10) which comes out to be about one year or 365 days.
[0033] Also, the alternative effort in terms of the count of days is estimated by the effort estimation subsystem (60) which comes out to be about 545 days which is completely based upon the one or more alternative food items included. Further, the deviation in terms of the count of days is also calculated via the deviation calculation subsystem (100) of the system (10) which comes out to be about 180 days. Thus, based on the deviation calculated of the alternative effort estimated from the effort estimated earlier for the personalized diet-plan, the user (70) can stick to the personalized diet-plan to avoid the deviation, choose to follow the alternative personalized diet-plan by accepting the deviation calculated, choose to follow the alternative personalized diet-plan by putting the extra effort as described in the above description of FIG. 1, or the like, thereby enabling the user (70) for managing the personalized diet-plan to achieve the goal.
