System And Method For Nfc Card Based Transactions

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method to carry out various types of financial and non-financial transaction through NFC card, the system allows multiple user to carry out the transactions even without smart phones and traditional financial systems. The card has options of multiple NFC tags utilized for performing various types of transactions ranging from financial transaction, authentication systems, validations etc. The disclosed system and method enables the primary NFC card user to create an authorized member groups that will be able to perform the approved transactions based on the primary NFC card user. The disclosed transaction system is independent of Internet connectivity.

Specification

The present invention relates in general to system and method of carrying out transactions between the parties, and in particular, relates to software-based system and method for carrying out NFC card-based transactions.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART
The usage of mobile phones and digital transactions has seen a tremendous growth in recent years and therefore development in and around mobile application, utilities through mobile application has also increased, various other existing technologies are now incorporated with mobile applications to facilitate user interaction, ecommerce transactions, transfer of information etc. One such technology is NFC i.e Near field communication which is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a smartphone, to establish communication by bringing them within 4 cm of each other. NFC has been used at Point of sale transactions, locking systems, financial transactions, M2M transactions, payment devices etc.
Below are the few existing prior arts that are uses NFC for facilitating various types of transactions. US20120303483A1 discloses NFC-based payment system and method for safely and quickly supporting both an offline and online direct transaction between a purchaser and a seller after the purchaser and the seller previously register payment and sales information online. Further, CN103208075 A discloses near field communication (NFC) technology-based payment method and a NFC technology-based payment system. The method comprises the

following steps that after acquiring shopping information, a submachine sends the shopping
information to a host machine; and after receiving and identifying the shopping information, the
host machine sends payment information to the submachine, and the submachine
performs payment operation according to the payment information. Apart from the usage of NFC in
effecting payment transaction, it has been used widely for authentication, identification etc.
We see that there exist many prior arts that use NFC for above mentioned purposes, but there exists
a need for a method that is more inclusive of people enabling them to carry out financial and non -
financial transaction even when they do not hold any smart phone or third- party validation.
In current scenario, these transactions are feasible through smart phones majorly, hence, a need for
a transaction system, that allows any mobile user to be able to carry out such transactions in day to
day life without having to be dependent on such smart phones or payment wallet etc.
The current invention discloses a novel system and method to achieve above mentioned features for
a large base of users not having a smart phone or any third -party validation system.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The present invention has been developed in response to the present state of the art, and in particular; in response to the problems and needs in the art that have not yet been fully solved by currently available techniques and processes.
Accordingly, the present invention has been developed to provide NFC based system and method for carrying out various financial and non-financial transactions. The current invention discloses a system and method essentially comprised of an NFC card having a unique identifier enabling the user to carry out various types of transactions. The system and method disclosed herein further

comprised of software application enabling user authentication, authorization, facilitation of
transactions, user transaction management and other customary features.
[001] The primary object of the disclosed system and method is to enable large base of user to
carry out various types of transactions without having a requirement to use smart phone or nfc card
or biometric or QR code or bar code any third party financial system.
[002] It is further an objection of the invention to carry out transaction in offline mode or without
having a necessity to use internet or wifi.
[003] It is further an object of the invention to allow multiple users to carry out various types of
transactions through single NFC card.
[004] It is also an object of the invention to facilitate a regularized common user base to perform
set of transactions allowed by the primary user e.g. family financial transactions mobilty.
[005] It is yet another object of the invention is to implement an NFC based payment method that
has no cap on number of transactions or amount of transaction and USSD/IVR authentication,
ensuring its more convenient and economical than existing electronic money and credit cards or
wallet systems.
[006] It is also an object of the invention to provide facility of authentication, validation,
enablement of various non-financial and financial transactions through a single card.
[007] The novelty of the invention is to propose a payment method without the use of electronic
money and credit cards, in the form of electronic claims to implement than electronic money, credit
card more convenient features.
[008] It is further object of the present invention is to allow transaction management of the user,
the transaction history stored in the private and secure cloud server then transferred to the customer
for confirmation and account management.

[009] Financial and non-financial transaction authentication and authorization through same nfc device issued to end user allows to create various customized M2M applications like utilities payment, transport payment, merchant payment, social security funds, access to secure entry etc [0010] 1+N configuration facilitate family financial access and mobility through single Wallet and nfc device/car/biometric/QR code/bar code issued to each member.

In this context, it is clarified that the description provided is non-limiting and is only by way of explanation. Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the foregoing description proceeds, taken together with the accompanying drawings and the appended claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

features of the invention can be obtained, a more particular description of the invention briefly
described above will be rendered by reference to specific embodiments thereof, which are
illustrated in the appended drawings. And that the elements of similar structure or function are

Understanding that these drawings depict only typical embodiments of the invention and are not
therefore to be considered not to be limiting of its scope, the invention will be described and
explained with additional specificity and detail through the use of the accompanying drawings in

Figure 1 is an example of user registration and group formation.
Figure 2 is a diagrammatic representation of showing the NFC card functionalities.
Figure 3 is illustration depicting the steps of the system and method of card usage.
Figure 4 is Flow chart depicting the steps of Secondary User Addition by Primary User.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0013] This invention disclosure describes the subject matter for patenting with specificity to meet statutory requirements. However, the description itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent. The principles described herein may be embodied in many different forms. [0014] Illustrative embodiments of the invention now will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which some, but not all embodiments of the invention are shown. Indeed, the invention may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will satisfy applicable legal requirements. Like numbers refer to like elements throughout. In the present description, persons have been described in the masculine gender for brevity. It may be clearly understood that the invention applies equally to persons of all genders. [0015] The present invention discloses a system and method to carry out various types of financial and non- financial transaction through NFC card, the system allows multiple users to carry out the transactions even without the need of having smart phones and traditional financial systems. The card has options of multiple NFC tags utilized for performing various types of transactions ranging from financial transaction, authentication systems, validations etc. The disclosed system and method enables the primary NFC card user to create an authorized member groups that will be able to perform the approved transactions based on the primary NFC card user. The disclosed transaction system is independent of Internet connectivity.
[0016] In one embodiment of the present invention provides a software-based platform system wherein, User is registered on the platform through creation of login ID by performing a validation after submission of requisite particulars that comprise of NFC card number, the validation may be

performed by a call or code. Upon completion of validation process, each user profile is provided
with a unique identifier and a user dashboard having multiple features namely creation of different
user groups, addition, deletion, modification of user group, management of user group, and a log
system comprised of history of transactions carried out.
[0017] In preferred embodiment the user registration follows the steps of Registration, Account
Creation, wallet creation, wallet recharge and the user registration is facilitated by USSD/IVR based
PIN based authentication.
[0018] The system and method disclosed herein upon user authentication comprised of validating
and initialization of NFC card may create a secondary user group, the card holder is designated as
primary user who may add the other users to its NFC card group authorizing them to carry out the
transactions based on the primary user card.
[0019] The primary user has authority to regulate the actions and transaction of the secondary
users, the primary user can define set of instructions related to transaction value, no. of transactions,
their access rights and other related variables.
[0020] In preferred embodiment the primary user may add/delete/modify secondary users and their
access rights by using any of the methods such as through IVR, USSD Service, Web Panel, Mobile
Application or through Retail Outlet. Any action may be addition, deletion, modification, Activation
or deactivation will be validated through PIN via SMS/USSD.
[0021] In the current invention the user journey for the usage of the disclosed card for transaction
comprised of steps of Individual:- Registration, Account Creation, wallet creation, wallet recharge,
Add Users (NFC (mobile/Card)Based 1+9), Add Limits (Authentication, Authorization, Transaction
), Swap NFC card at Reader Terminal, Authentication via USSD/IVR based PIN , Amount Debited
from Individual wallet, Transaction Executed, Amount Credited to merchant wallet, Amount

Credited to merchant account, Monthly Individual statements, Real Time journey availability on both website and Mobile applications for each Individual or user.
[0022] For instance, the primary user adds his driver and children to his NFC card group as secondary user, the primary user has rights to regulate access rights of the secondary users, The primary user may specify value of the transaction that each of the secondary user may perform, for example, the driver as specified as secondary user may perform a maximum of 2000 INR transaction only in a month. The children may perform a transaction of maximum of INR 500 per transaction without seeking approval from primary user. Hence, we see that through single NFC card multiple users without having a smart phone or any payment account are able to perform the transactions.
[0023] This is one of the examples related to financial transaction. The NFC card -based system disclosed herein may also be used to authenticate the access right of the user to a premise as well. Each of the different transaction can be specified in various NFC tags as shown in Figure 2. Each of the NFC tag will support various transactions at set of instructions specified by the primary user. [0024] The usage and enablement of the NFC tags in the disclosed system and method will now be explained further in detail by way of exemplary example. For instance, the primary user has specified the financial transaction as discussed above in NFC tag 1 and further specified the entry of the users in NFC tag 2, we see that same NFC card is also performing as validation and authentication card as well. The primary user in NFC tag 2 has identified the secondary users allowed to enter his premise by specifying set of instructions in tag 2.
[0025] Accordingly, the disclosed system and method allows the NFC card users to use single card for variety of purposes that may range from various financial and non-financial transactions.

[0026] In another embodiment of the invention, the system and method disclosed herein allows the users to perform the transaction without the internet connectivity or say offline mode. This can be explained by making a quick reference to Figure 3, wherein the interaction between the NFC card user, third party and web- based platform is illustrated.
[0027] The disclosed NFC card based transactions system may also be utilized by the merchants, corporate entities, Body corporates. Wherein the Card Base is accessible to customize merchant services, which means whole customer base can use customized services of each onboard merchant for both financial and non- financial transaction. The selective user base can be enabled for privilege services like loyalty points, event passes or any privilege services on specific retail merchant terminals. The platform enable selective user base a geographical mobility with any privilege or benefit for easy ( example PDS network user can move from one state to another state due to any reason and still can available the benefit available at designated retail terminals ) [0028] In those scenarios the merchant journey will comprise of the preferable step of) Merchant :- Registration > Account Creation > Service Template subscription > Wallet creation > Service Provisioning > Service Activation > Individual Transactions > Account Settlement (T+n) > Transaction Statement > Monthly statement > Real Time journey availability on both website and Mobile applications for each Merchant.
[0029] Further, now the execution method of the disclosed invention will be explained briefly , wherein the Each Individual subscriber will be having one wallet, Which can be associated with 1+9 NFC mobile/ card user beneficiaries. The individual can swap card at the merchant terminal (NFC reader ) . Each merchant Terminal will be centrally connected to Biocipher Hosting Cloud through Encrypted Secure VPN tunneling. The Central Application Known as Truement Shell ( Authenticate the user identity, Authorize the user based on the privilege and approve/decline the

transaction. Once the transactions approved from central application the individual user will be notify and debit the payment of subscriber payment as per merchant service template and Credit the same amount to merchant wallet in real time. The settlement of the merchant wallet shall be based on (T+n) and all journey of transaction for both individual and merchant available on web application and mobile application along with all transaction detail, settlement detail, transaction statements and monthly statements. Merchant shall also having customize service template and live view panel related to customize service template ( For e.g._ Bus Transportation , In this Bus operating agency shall be having customize service template for Fixed/ variable charges along with digital route and real time distance calculation and The agency can view all buses on all routes live from there centralized control room with informative data. Individual checking in Bus through tapping his NFC (mobile/card) on bus terminal shall be notified through SMS (Ticket no, Time, Route , Bus no) and requisite amount will be debited from the individual wallet and to be credited in merchant wallet in real time There shall be numerous service template and associated merchant terminal applications as per the market demands and future evolution.
[0030] In one embodiment, the user interface is in the form of a web page rendered in a web browser of a user device, such as a computer, a notebook, a PDA, a web terminal, etc. The web page is to be downloaded from a server that is connected to the database for the job postings. Alternatively, the user interface can be based on a WAP application on a wireless mobile device, such as a cellular phone. Further, similar entry fields can be provided through the use of other communication channels, such as Email, Instant messages, SMS messages, etc. The user interface contains entry fields for specifying the information and details about the users involved, in order to identify, locate, filter and manage each user profile.

[0033] It can also be easily seen that this system and method enables the multiple users without having the smart phone or payment accounts are still able to make various types of transactions, further the authentication system comprising validation from the primary user of NFC card makes the arrangement a stable one. Thus, it meets all the goals of this invention.

present invention includes all legitimate developments within the scope of what has been described herein before. WE Claim:

1.A system and method for carrying NFC card based transactions wherein the transactions can
be financial or non-financial, the transactions are carried through the NFC card carrying a
unique identifier allotted to the card, the NFC card essentially comprised of
a. Unique card identifier which may be biometric or QR code or bar code
b. NFC tags which are Primary user specified.
c. Software application which supports, authenticate, manage and enable the NFC
based cards transaction.
2. The system and method for carrying NFC card based transactions as claimed in claim 1, enables the primary card user to specify variety of NFC tags to perform the functions ranging from listing secondary user, transaction limit, authentication method etc, the primary user can specify unlimited number of NFC tags.
3. The system and method for carrying NFC card based transactions as claimed in claim 1, allows the secondary users specified by the primary card user to carry out transactions based on the primary user NFC card without having to use internet, wifi, card access etc., the secondary user has to validate the card transaction based on primary user authentication method specified in NFC tag, which may be SMS code, card code etc.
4. The system and method for carrying NFC card based transactions as claimed in claim 1, enables the primary user to initiate the transactions through the NFC card upon completion of user authentication and allowing the user to access variety of functionalities such as addition -deletion of secondary users, managing transaction limits, managing financial statements etc.
5. The system and method for carrying NFC card based transactions as claimed in claim 1, allows the primary user to specify unlimited number of secondary users based on single NFC card, with different set of approved transactions authorities and transaction limit.
6. The system and method for carrying NFC card based transactions as claimed in claim 1, allows the primary user to block, change and modify the NFC tags specified anytime both through mobile application or web application.
7. The system and method for carrying NFC card based transactions as claimed in claim 1, enables the secondary users to carry out any transactions without having to need a smart phone, internet access, or any form of physical card.
