3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a connector for electrical conductors. Particularly, the present invention relates to the connector that comprises a terminal plate with clamping spring and a structure for holding the clamping spring. More particularly, the present invention relates to a system for providing spring clamp in connector.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION
US 6010376 describes a connector for electrical conductors with at least one spring-force clamped connection in the form of a loop-shaped bent clamping spring. The task is to reduce as much as possible the structural height of the clamping spring measured crosswise to the direction for introducing the conductor. This is achieved by lowering the curved spring piece of the clamping spring, which is arranged in a recessed position in an adapted recess, shaped cavity, or the like, of the respective bus bar.
US '376 prior art technique can be used for holding the spring clamp with individual type of construction, but it cannot be used for making a block of multiple connectors (integrated). This is because, in case of a block type of construction, a tiny component is required to hold the spring clamp in position, if prior art technique is used.
US 7101231 describes a terminal block comprising a housing defining at least one bias compartment and at least one terminal compartment; a terminal plate within said housing and separating said bias compartment and said terminal compartment; and a bias element positioned in said bias compartment, said bias element comprising a retainer portion extending through an opening in said terminal plate into said terminal compartment; wherein said bias element retains a ring terminal to the terminal plate along a first direction and wherein said terminal plate retains the-ring terminal along a second direction when the wire terminal is received in through the retainer portion; wherein said terminal
plate comprises a lock protrusion defining a catch surface extending therefrom, said lock protrusion retaining the ring terminal to said terminal plate when said bias element is relaxed.
US'231 can be used for holding the spring clamp with individual type of construction, but it cannot be used for making a block of multiple connectors (integrated). This is because, in case of a block type of construction, a tiny component is required to hold the spring clamp in position, if prior art technique is used.
Connectors are used for interconnecting wiring of electrical systems. Wires are connected to the terminal plate by inserting the end of stripped wire into cage clamps or spring clamps. A tool is used to depress the spring-clamp or cage clamp and create an opening between the edge of the clamp & edge of a terminal .When the clamp is released, the clamp returns to its original position and presses the end of the wire against the terminal plate.
In a connector with individual or single type of construction, the spring clamp is provided with a protrusion or the clamp holder from the base body housing (plastic) inside the profile of the spring clamp. Now while designing the terminal block instead of singular to multiple, there is molding limitation of providing this type of protrusion or the clamp holder from the base body housing (plastic). It might have called for the separate tiny molded component for serving the same purpose. But there is probability of missing of the separate component during the assembly & increase in the assembly time.
A terminal block (multiples of connector) comprises of housing, a terminal plate, a spring clamp & the cover. A spring clamp which is positioned on the terminal plate is configured to provide normal force contact to the terminal plate when a wire terminal is received in the terminal and engaged to the retainer portion.
Now while designing the terminal block instead of singular to multiple, there is molding limitation of providing this type of protrusion or the clamp holder from the base body housing (plastic).
It might have called for the separate tiny molded component for serving the same purpose. But there is probability of missing of the separate component during the assembly & increase in the assembly time 8B rework or rejection percentage.
The above mentioned limitation will arise if we use the prior art technology (of providing a clamp holder) for a block type of construction of connectors (multiples of connectors).
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
One object of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages / drawbacks of the prior art.
A basic object of the present invention is to provide a structure for clamped connections for connectors of the type defined above, which is built with excluding the inner protrusions completely or eliminating the use of separate component required for holding the spring clamp in position.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improvement in the holding structure for the spring clamps.

Construction:
As shown in the figure 1, Spring clamp which is mounted on the terminal of the connector consists of Spring clamp (1), Plastic housing of connector (2) , connector terminal (3) 8B clamp holder for spring clamp (4).
In a connector with individual or single type of construction, the spring clamp is provided with a protrusion or the clamp holder from the base body housing (plastic) inside the profile of the spring clamp.
Fig.l and the description mentioned above is the prior art of the invention.
A terminal block (multiples of connector) comprises of housing (8), a terminal plate (7), a spring clamp (5) 8B the cover (6). A spring clamp, which is positioned on the terminal plate, is configured to provide normal force contact to the terminal plate when a wire terminal is received in the terminal and engaged to the retainer portion.
As shown in the figure, Fig.3 the requirement or function of clamp holder, a protrusion from plastic has been fulfilled by providing C shape in the terminal plate of connector. Now the spring clamp gets located & guided by the walls of terminal plate. This arrangement eliminates the need for clamp holder separate tiny piece in the spring clamp.
The function and positions are as follows:
Housing: It accommodates the multiple terminal plates. Each terminal plate assembly consists of 2 spring clamps assembled with a terminal plate.
Cover: Cover is placed on the Housing (through snap-fit type assembly) after assembling all terminal plates in housing. The function of cover is to shield the entire assembly and provide slots (circular/rectangular) for inserting the wires, and, for inserting a tool to depress the spring clamp.
