Specification

Description:TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of financial services. More particularly the present disclosure relates to a system and method for sanctioning financial services for agriculture.

BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] Farmers across many countries such as India have fewer opportunities to access digital finance and there are very few financial products and services that are being digitally given to farmers. The onboarding of customers (farmers in this case) is done offline. Most of the banks, especially the public sector banks (PSBs) follow a Business Correspondent (BC) model, wherein the business correspondent (BC) works on a commission basis collecting customers’ preliminary data and documents. The banks or the service provider often rely on the limited data collected. Once the customer is sourced/onboarded, the file/application is processed at Bank branch level, it is processed using the traditional methods of underwriting and manually processed by the credit officer/manager of the Bank and is dependent on the time taken by the individual/branch process. This often takes longer than required for the decision making. There is no standard tool for collecting or analyzing the data of farmer and facilitate the decision-making process.
[0004] Currently the banks use a Business Correspondent to collect data of the customers in rural segments. The micro finance institution deploys field workers to collect information manually and engage with the consumer. The data collected is manually by these field officers which limits the amount of data collected as well as the reach to the number of rural populations. The banks or the financial service provider then do decision making on the limited information and rely on manual verification process. This at times leads to poor results and increase in defaults on repayment if any. There are no standard analytic tools which analyses the farmer data and aid in the decision-making process.
[0005] There is, therefore, a need of a system and method for allowing such services, which is free from above discussed drawbacks.
