“System And Method For Searching A Video On A Web Search Engine”

Abstract: Accordingly, a system and method for searching a video is disclosed.(Fig 1) The system for searching a video comprising of; a crawler adapted to retrieve and index video elements located on a data network; a user interface associated with the index for providing keyword searching capabilities; A computer-readable carrier medium for carrying a set of instructions utilized by processors; and A processor for carrying a set of instructions. Ranking of videos is based on the number of query terms that are included, the relative location of the query terms, and frequency of occurrence of query terms. The videos are selected on the basis of view count, average view duration and click count and number of comments.

Claims:1. A system for searching a video comprising of:
a. a crawler adapted to retrieve and index video elements located on a data network;
b. a user interface associated with the index for providing keyword searching capabilities;
c. a computer-readable carrier medium for carrying a set of instructions utilized by processors; and
d. processor for carrying a set of instructions.
2. A method for searching a video comprising the steps of;
a. Putting keyword elements in search query by user
b. Searching specific content of interest based on set of instructions or image or sound characteristic data;
c. Retrieving video elements based on keyword searching or image or sound characteristic data from video information; and
d. Selecting a video based on content of interest.
3. The method for searching a video as claimed in claim 2, is based on ranking of videos based on the number of query terms that are included, the relative location of the query terms, and frequency of occurrence of query terms.
4. The method as claimed in claim 2, are selected on the basis of view count, average view duration and click count and number of comments.
, Description:Technical field of the Invention:
The present invention relates to video searching. The present invention more particularly relates to a system and method for searching a video on a web search engine and a query interface for searching, interfacing and socializing a large amount of video materials.
Background of the invention:
The Internet is having vast content and is distributed widely. A search engine is essential for meaningful retrieval of information and they are designed to search for text within web pages. There are numerous search engines and navigators capable of searching for specific Internet content. Search engines from Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo etc normally operate by scouring the Internet for information. Current search engines and navigators are designed to search for text within web pages or other Internet files. Search engine locates and stores the location of information and various descriptions of information in a searchable index. Search engine rely upon content providers for establishing content location and users of the search engine finds the content with the help of search terms.
The search engine registration process may be automated. A content provider places one or more metatag into a web page or other content. Each metatag may contain keywords that a search engine can use to index the page. A search engine uses a web crawler for searching the Internet content. The web crawler automatically crawls through web pages following every link from one web page to other web pages until all links are exhausted. As the web crawler crawls through web pages, the web crawler correlates descriptive tags on each web page with the location of the page to construct a searchable database.
The search engine databases apply the search techniques to video material which is not simple. The characteristics of video are different than text and image information. The presentation of large volumes of videos is difficult because it requires an effective interface for advertising models and selection of videos. So in order for getting relevant business information, there is need for a system and method for video searching.
Objects of the invention:
An object of the present invention is to provide a process and a system for a video based search engine that provides for an improved searching experience.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an effective interface for advertising models and selection of video.
Other objects and benefits of the present invention will be more apparent from the following description, which is not intended to bind the scope of the present invention.

Accordingly, a system and method for searching a video is disclosed. The system for searching a video comprising of; a crawler adapted to retrieve and index video elements located on a data network; a user interface associated with the index for providing keyword searching capabilities;
A computer-readable carrier medium for carrying a set of instructions utilized by processors; and a processor for carrying a set of instructions. Ranking of videos is based on the number of query terms that are included, the relative location of the query terms, and frequency of occurrence of query terms. The videos are selected on the basis of view count, average view duration and click count and number of comments.

Detailed description of the invention:
he present invention is a process and system for a video based search engine that provides for an improved searching experience. The present invention provides an effective interface for advertising models and selection of videos. The present invention is useful for getting relevant business information.
In one embodiment, a system for searching a video comprising of; a crawler; an user interface(query interface); a computer-readable carrier medium and a processor; wherein crawler is adapted to retrieve and index video elements located on a data network; an user interface is associated with the index for providing keyword searching capabilities; a computer-readable carrier medium is for carrying a set of instructions utilized by processors; and A processor for carrying a set of instructions.
In another embodiment, a method for searching a video comprising the steps of;
a. Putting keyword elements in search query by user
b. Searching specific content of interest based on set of instructions or image or sound characteristic data;
c. Retrieving video elements based on keyword searching or image or sound characteristic data from video information; and
d. selecting a video based on content of interest.
In another embodiment, the search result obtained includes ranking of videos based on the number of query terms that are included, the relative location of the query terms, and frequency of occurrence of query terms (the time period for which the search terms are occurred). The videos are selected on the basis of view count, average view duration and click count and number of comments.
The crawler used for retrieving and indexing video elements and for retrieving data elements from a host site.
An information repository or user interface (or database) stores the material found by the crawler. A video playback interface provides the playlists. It preferably allows for the Smooth playback of videos and simple control of a collection of videos that it controls.
Each of the videos is preferably overlaid with the logo of the hosting site from which it is originated. A user can click on the playing video, the video can be selected and the user is linked to a page of the original hosting site. The space to the right of the video is text space that contains information about the current video. This information includes title, description, duration and a link to the original video. A preview bar for the other videos to come is also provided, and consists of key frames (images) of the currently playing video plus key frames of the next few (for example four) videos on the playback list. This is a sliding window of the next few videos. As the current video finishes playback and “wipes out” to the left, its key frame also “wipes out to the left and the other entire key frames shuffle left. The preview bar can allow direct navigation to video in the playlist, for example as a user clicks on or selects one of the key frames, the video playback stops and the selected video is played.
With the help of user interface, many new formats for advertising are possible. Advertisements can be video clips or audio clips. Each of advertisement formats can be used into the video preview to create advertising Advertising is based on query put forth by user and other details like, GPS location, their gender, their age. A hyperlink is also given below the advertisement which shows the link of a pre-decided web source. Several hyperlinks associated with one advertisement by temporarily is called as “hotspots” and are activated by user.
