Abstract: System and method for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology includes mobile application; at least one smart wearable collar; a cloud server; sensors; cameras; at least one electronic computing device which has active internet connection and wireless communication module. The invention application used to track the pet activity daily with the help of smart wearable collar which is attached with sensors and cameras. The report of pet activity is generated on daily basis.
Claims:We claim:
1) System for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology is comprising of:
a. Mobile application for tracking pet activity – used for getting information of pet and its activity and generating report of pet activity on daily basis;
b. At least one smart wearable collar – for tracking pet activity;
c. At least one electronic computing device which has active internet connection – connected to wireless communication device, receiving the at least one smart wearable collar data and watching report of pet activity on daily basis;
d. A cloud server – perform analysis of received data from at least one smart collar, and sending data to an electronic device;
e. Sensors – configured on at least one smart wearable collar which is used to sense data and send it to the cloud server;
f. Cameras – configured on at least one smart wearable collar which is used to capture the images, videos and send it to the cloud server; and
g. Wireless communication module- configured to connect at least one smart wearable collar and cloud server
wherein, through an electronic device the said application can be accessed through which the said user/pet owner can get report of pet activity on daily basis.
2) Method for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology is comprising the steps of:
a. Installing sensors and cameras on the at least one smart collar of pet and wear it to the pet;
b. At least one smart collar sensor sense pet activity periodically and send data to the cloud server with the help of wireless communication module;
c. At least one smart collar camera capture image and video of pet activity and send data to the cloud server with the help of wireless communication module;
d. At cloud server, sensor data and camera data are analysed and send it to the at least one electronic device with the help of wireless communication module; and
e. An electronic device checks data and generates report of pet activity on daily basis and shown to the user/pet owner
3) The system claimed in claim 1, where at least one smart collar is attached to the body of pet.
4) The method claimed in claim 2, wherein sensors which are installed on at least one smart collar senses major to minor activity of pet and send this data to the cloud server.
5) The method claimed in claim 2, wherein camera which are installed on at least one smart collar capture image and videos of pet surrounding and its activity and send this data to the cloud server.
6) The method claimed in claim 2, wherein said sensor data is analysed at cloud server and result data is sent to at least one electronic device.
7) The method claimed in claim 2, wherein said camera data is analysed at cloud server and result data is sent to at least one electronic device.
8) The method claimed in claim 2, wherein said electronic device check data sent by cloud server and generate the pet activity report on daily basis.
, Description:Field of the invention:
The present invention is related generally to the pet care, and more particularly to tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
Background of the invention:
Pets are not just animal but it becomes family member for pet owners. Pet gives human being companionship, emotional support and reduce stress level of pet owner and family member, also they reduce sense of loneliness of human being. Pet increases human’s social activities and positive emotional development.
Pet tracking is important for pet owner as pets tend to wander off, can be stolen, get lost and due to these reasons pet owner must know what they are pet doing a whole day when they are not around to them. Also, pet owner wants to know whether their pet eating properly or not, whether they are going for walk or not, meeting to other pet or not, how many times they do potty and likewise information which is needed to ensure that pet is all right and doesn’t have any problem to them.
There are a system having pet tracking related inventions, which are patented, are listed below.
US patent application US8807443B2 by Robert Kennett, Timothy Byrd discloses Pet activity monitor. A pet activity monitor with a multi-axis motion detector for facilitating derivation of physical activity data, wherein the pet activity monitor is adapted to display a QR-code comprising a representation of the physical activity data.
US patent application US2784698A by Dieppa Ralph discloses Walking and training rod leash. This invention relates to walking and training rods for dogs. It is an object of the present invention to provide a walking and training rod for dogs or other pets that will prevent the owner from stepping on the pet and which will prevent them from tripping the owner.
US patent application US20050056235A1 by Brian Tobia discloses Illumination device for pet collars and other pet accessories. An illumination device for collars and other accessories is provided. The illumination device comprises a tubular strap. A lighting mechanism having a light source is at least partially receivable within the tubular strap. A mechanism activates the lighting source within the mechanism wherein light from the light source is emitted through at least a portion of the tubular strap.
US patent application US8720384B2 by Mary Yvonne Gee discloses Dog walking apparatus. A dog walking tube comprising a hollow tube having a first end and a second end. The hollow tube has a portion that will hold fecal matter waste bags. The opposite or second end of the hollow container receives and stores used fecal matter waste bags. The dog walking tube may allow used and new faecal matter waste bags to be held within the dog walking tube and not the dog walkers hand during the walk.
Though the prior art patent discloses Pet activity monitor, Walking and training rod leash, Illumination device for pet collars and other pet accessories and Dog walking apparatus, they do not give any perfect solution for tracking pet activity.
Internet of Things (IoT) is basically a network which includes connected devices embedded with software, electronics, sensors, actuators and so on which enables these objects to gather and exchange the data. In simple words, Internet of Things (IoT) describe the system which interrelated, inter-connected objects which are able to collect data and transfer that data over a wireless network without human intervention.
Object of the invention:
The primary object of the present invention is to provide system and method for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology where application is used for tracking the daily activity of pet.
Another object of the present invention is to provide system and method for tracking pet activity where at least one smart collar would be attached to the body of pet.
Another object of the present invention is to provide system and method for tracking pet activity where sensors which would install on at least one smart collar senses major to minor activity of pet and wound send this data to the cloud server.
Another object of the present invention is to provide system and method for tracking pet activity where camera which would install on at least one smart collar capture image and videos of pet surrounding and its activity and wound send this data to the cloud server.
Another object of the present invention is to provide system and method for tracking pet activity where said sensor data would be analysed at cloud server and result data would be sent to at least one electronic device.
Another object of the present invention is to provide system and method for tracking pet activity where said camera data would be analysed at cloud server and result data would be sent to at least one electronic device.
Another object of the present invention is to provide system and method for tracking pet activity where said electronic device would check data sent by cloud server and would generate the pet activity report on daily basis.
Summary of the invention:
The present invention discloses system and method for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system for tracking pet activity is comprising of;
Mobile application for tracking pet activity – used for getting information of pet and its activity and generating report of pet activity on daily basis;
At least one smart wearable collar – for tracking pet activity;
At least one electronic computing device which has active internet connection – connected to wireless communication device, receiving the at least one smart wearable collar data and watching report of pet activity on daily basis;
A cloud server – perform analysis of received data from at least one smart collar, and sending data to an electronic device;
Sensors – configured on at least one smart wearable collar which is used to sense data and send it to the cloud server;
Cameras – configured on at least one smart wearable collar which is used to capture the images, videos and send it to the cloud server; and
Wireless communication module- configured to connect at least one smart wearable collar and cloud server
According to the present invention sensors and cameras would install on the at least one smart collar of pet and the said smart collar is attached to the pet. At least one smart collar sensor would sense pet activity periodically and would send data to the cloud server with the help of wireless communication module. At least one smart collar camera would capture image and video of pet activity periodically and would send data to the cloud server with the help of wireless communication module. At cloud server, sensor data and camera data would be analysed and would send it to the at least one electronic device with the help of wireless communication module. An electronic device would check data and would generate report of pet activity on daily basis and shown to the user/pet owner.

Detailed description of the invention:
The present invention discloses system and method for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
An Internet of Things (IoT) mainly consists of sensors and device which communicate with the cloud server through some kind of connectivity. When data gets to the cloud, software processes it and will decide to perform any action like sending an alert or automatically adjust the sensors and devices without the need for human intervention.
Fig.1 illustrates the system for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology is comprising of contents;
Mobile application for tracking pet activity – used for getting information of pet and its activity and generating report of pet activity on daily basis;
At least one smart wearable collar – for tracking pet activity;
At least one electronic computing device which has active internet connection – connected to wireless communication device, receiving the at least one smart wearable collar data and watching report of pet activity on daily basis;
A cloud server – perform analysis of received data from at least one smart collar, and sending data to an electronic device;
Sensors – configured on at least one smart wearable collar which is used to sense data and send it to the cloud server;
Cameras – configured on at least one smart wearable collar which is used to capture the images, videos and send it to the cloud server; and
Wireless communication module- configured to connect at least one smart wearable collar and cloud server
Fig. 1 illustrates the system for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology is used for tracking pet activity in the form of report on daily basis. The system of present invention includes sensors and cameras which are install on the at least one smart collar of pet and the said smart collar is attached to the pet. At least one smart collar sensor senses pet activity periodically and sends this data to the cloud server with the help of wireless communication module. At least one smart collar which have camera captures the image and video of pet activity periodically and sends this data to the cloud server with the help of wireless communication module. At cloud server, sensor data and camera data are analysed and sends it to the at least one electronic device with the help of wireless communication module. An electronic device checks data and generates report of pet activity on daily basis and shown to the user/pet owner on the mobile application.
Fig. 2 illustrates the method for tracking pet activity by using Internet of Things (IoT) technology is comprising of the steps are as;
Step 1) Mobile application for tracking pet activity is installed on an electronic device
Step 2) Smart pet collar is connected to Mobile application is attached through wireless communication module
Step 3) Sensors and cameras are installed on smart pet collar and the said pet collar is attached to the pet
Step 4) Sensor from the smart collar sense pet activity periodically and send data to the cloud server through wireless communication module
Step 5) Camera from the smart collar capture image and video of pet activity and send data to the cloud server through wireless communication module
Step 6) At cloud server, sensor data and camera data are analysed and send it to the electronic device through wireless communication module
Step 7) An electronic device checks data and generates report of pet activity on daily basis and shown on mobile application
The present invention is mainly used to track the pet activity and generate daily report of pet activity. The smart collar is attached to pet body in such a way that the sensors and cameras which are installed on smart collar can sense and capture pet activity respectively. Periodically, sensor and camera send data to the cloud server through wireless communication module. At cloud server, analysation of the said data is done. And this analysed data is sent to the electronic device where mobile application is installed. The said mobile application check this data and generated report of pet activity on daily basis.
There are some advantages of the present invention such as;
It keeps track pet activity regularly. Due to which pet owner can know whether pet is fine or have any problem is bothering to pet.
Due to daily report, pet owner can know whether pet health is ok or not. Also, pet owner can know whether pet is eating on time and with proper quantity or not which results to the good health of pet.
It is very user friendly and money saving. With only one-time investment it provides facility for many years.
The present invention can be better understood with the help of examples.
Example 1:
According to the present invention, B is the pet owner which is using the invention application. B is attached smart collar to pet that is B’s dog. With smart collar B can get daily report of dog activity. So, B can check how much time dog is walking outside, how many times dog do potty, how many times dog had food and water, how many time dogs met to other dogs through the daily report of tracking pet activity.
Example 2:
According to the present invention, P is the pet owner which is using the invention application. P is attached smart collar to pet that is P’s cat. With smart collar P can get daily report of cat activity. So, P can check how much time cat is walking outside, how many times cat do potty, how many times cat had food and water, how many time cats met to other cats through the daily report of tracking pet activity.
It should be kept in mind that the described embodiment(s) is only presented by way of example and should not be construed as limiting the inventive concept to any particular hardware and software configuration.
The present invention is not limited to components, which is mentioned in the description. Based on the same concept, system and method for tracking pet activity can be built. Those who are familiar in the art will understand that a number of variations may be made in the disclosed embodiments, all without departing from the scope of the invention, which is defined solely by the appended claims.
