"System and Method for Updating Users"
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited, a corporation organized and existing under the laws oflndia, of D-26, TTC Industrial Area, M1DC Sanpada, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai -400703 India.
The following specification particularly describes the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR UPDATING USERS
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to system and method for updating users in a wireless communication network.
Background
Computer network consisting of a worldwide network of computers which has become a popular medium for connecting people over past few years. The network / internet allow people to connect with others without any hassles. The users thus find the technology extremely beneficial and it can be used not just to make calls but also to send messages.
An important feature of this technology is sending message in the form of SMS. The users can easily send SMS to clients all over the world. It is increasingly becoming common to find people sending SMS to others all over the world using this technology. People can organize a message and send images along with text.
Mobile technology for advertising seems a viable option as number of mobile users is increasing swiftly moreover Mobile technology is developing constantly, which attracts both advertisers and customers. The technology uses wireless medium for transmitting content using audio, short message service (SMS) messages, e-mail, multimedia messaging (MMS), cell broadcast, picture messages, surveys, or any other content for communication about a product or company.
According to one of the prior art which uses SMS service for establishing connection between two or more users, user X of a community Y updates his/her status message in his online account through SMS. The other users, who are member of same community Y, get updated only when this group of people goes online i.e. login to their Accounts and then check the status message of user X. In case, any user does not login to their account (i.e offline user), he/ she may not get message uploaded by user X. Thus, the prior has limitation that member of a particular community has to login in his/her account to access the message.
Therefore, there is a need of a system and method which uses Internet technology and mobile technology for connecting offline users through SMS.
SUMMARY
It is an embodiment of the present disclosure lo provide system and method for updating offline users in a wireless communication network.
It is another embodiment of the present disclosure to provide a system and method which enables the user to stay connected with the other users or community member.
To achieve the desired objective, one embodiment of the present invention describes a system for updating users in a wireless communication network. Rather, various types of general purpose computing machines or devices may be used with programs constructed in accordance with the teachings described herein.
Figure 1 illustrates the block diagram of a system for updating users in a wireless communication network according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The system comprises a user terminal unit 101, a message transceiver 102, an advertisement storage unit 103, a message processing unit 104 which is coupled to the message transceiver 102 and the advertisement storage unit 103, and a determining unit 105 coupled to the message processing unit 104. The determining unit 105 determines one or more offline destination users to update them with one or more messages appended with relevant advertisement through Short Message Service (SMS).
The user terminal unit 101 includes one or more user terminals. The user terminals 101 (a b,....n) can be selected from the group consisting of mobile phone, telephone, and computer. The advertisement storage unit 103 is configured to include one or more advertisement provided by the client. The message processing unit 104 processes the received message to determine the destination users and the relevant advertisement. The determining unit 105 determines one or more online destination users and one or more offline destination users from the user terminal unit. The message processing unit 104 forwards one or more messages appended with relevant advertisement through Short Message Service (SMS) to the offline destination users. The Short Message Service (SMS) is either a text SMS or a voice SMS. The messages are exchanged over the network 106 between the users and the message transceiver.
A user can convey/update other users regarding any urgency, troublesome or exciting situation through the system. The user terminal is used by user for sending message. The message transceiver receives the message and forward to the message processing unit. The
message processing unit processes the message to determine the information of destination users and relevant advertisement from the advertisement server. The information of destination users includes contact number, group name, or community name. The destination user information is forwarded to determining unit for determining online and offline destination users. Since the online users are already logged-in, they can access the updated message. But the offline users receive the updated message by SMS. The offline users not only receive message but also receive appended relevant advertisement. The relevant advertisement depends on the content of the message. The relevant advertisement appended with the original message enables the system to either eliminate or minimized the cost evolved in sending SMS.
Figure 2 illustrates the block diagram of a system for updating one or more messages to one or more offline users in a wireless communication system according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. This embodiment illustrates a SMS based service through the DIGITAL MUMBAI (DM) Portal accessible only to the DM registered users. The service is provided to increase the BONDING amongst the members of a community on DM. This shall be focusing on the subtle instinct of staying connected to a relevant social cause & be a part of the solution.
The system enables the members of a community to get connected with other members even when they are offline. This system is useful in case of some urgency or in a very troublesome/ exciting situation, e.g. Rains in Mumbai & subsequent water-logging in a few areas. The system requires a SMS Gateway, 10 digit code on which mobile phone number of one or more interested users would send through SMS,. The system is also configured to provide a platform which identifies the relevant community name and does search for the most relevant advertisements pertaining to the message by combining Location Based Services (LBS) and community data.
To identify the community and determining the relevant database of numbers, the system uses the preset format of sending the SMS. Every community shall be preceded by "dm" & the name of the community has to be written followed by a ":". The actual text of the message will start after the COLON (:) & this will help the system in identifying the community.
If a User "X" (member of MmRAINS') wants to update his friends regarding any issue or
urgency or any trouble (also members of "dmRAlNS" ), he/she just needs to send an SMS to a Number in a stipulated format, which is then forwarded to DM processing unit 201. The DM processing unit 201 identifies the community, checks for Data base and then throws up the relevant mobile numbers of the users. The short message service center (SMSC) receives the SMS and forwarded it to one or more users of the identified community with or without advertisement as per the desired configuration of the system.
This system is also important as there is very high probability of a person/user to be a member of more than one community. This methodology is helpful in sending the message to the right audience and is beneficial to all the parties involved in the entire transaction.
Figure 3 illustrates a flow diagram of a method for updating users in a wireless communication network according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. One or more messages are received by message transceiver in step 301 and decoded in step 302 by message processing unit. One or more offline destination users are determined in step 303. The suitable advertisement is determined based on the decoded message in step 304. A final message is generated by appending the advertisement with the decoded message in step 305. The final message is forwarded to the one or more offline destination users in step 306.
The embodiments of the present disclosure describe a system and method for updating offline users. The present disclosure provides many advantages as mentioned herewith. Firstly, the present disclosure facilitates provides a system which facilitates the users to stay connected with the other users or community member. Secondly, the present disclosure enables the user to receive the information about the various things such as Hotels. Restaurants, Discos, Art Galleries etc. depending on the location of users by integrating it with the original message. Thirdly, it acts as new Revenue Stream, as all the messages that will be sent shall be loaded with relevant advertisements, which will not only cover the cost of SMSs but also add to the revenue.
Although the disclosure of system and method has been described in connection with the embodiment of the present disclosure illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it is not limited thereto. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various substitutions,
modifications and changes may be made thereto without departing from the scope and spirit of the disclosure,
