, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates to recycling of electronic waste. The present invention more particularly relates to a system for recycling of electronic waste and electronic waste management through e-commerce platform.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
E-Waste is produced after disposal of electronic products after the end of its useful life.
E-waste comprises of waste electronic/electrical goods which are not fit for their originally intended use. The entry of new advanced technologies in the market day by day can cause creation of large amount of e-waste. E- waste includes circuit boards, chips, electrical outlets, TVs, computer monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, cables, circuit boards, lamps, clocks, flashlight, calculators, phones, answering machines, digital/video cameras, radios, VCRs, DVD players, MP3 and CD players, Kitchen equipment such as toasters, coffee makers, microwave ovens , Laboratory equipment such as hot plates, microscopes, calorimeters , Broken computer monitors, television tubes (CRTs). 76% workers in India suffer from respiratory ailments like asthama, bronchitis, choking, irritation, breathing difficulties.
E-waste contains numerous toxins, resources such as metals and rare earth metals can be recovered and reused. The E-waste can either sit in a landfill or it can be recycled and used to create new products. Toxins are disposed in an appropriate manner can cause environmental pollution and health hazards. The toxic materials from electronic devices are released into bodies of water, groundwater, soil and air, affecting both land and sea animals. When e-waste is thrown out, they wind up in landfills, causing toxic materials to seep into groundwater which affects both land and sea animals. Thus e-waste causes damage to the atmosphere. The hazardous constituents present in the e-waste render it hazardous to health and environment when such wastes are dismantled and processed. So proper recycling of e-waste is necessary as these resources are extracted from e-waste and the toxins are disposed responsible
The drawbacks of the present recycling systems are as follows:
• Non- efficient and Non-environmentally sound technologies.
• Occupational and environmental hazards.
• Impacts vulnerable social groups- Women, children and immigrant labourers.
• High Volume of e-Waste (the highest growing stream of urban solid waste generation).
• Limits or restrictions to dump e-waste with Municipal Solid Waste in Landfills.
• Heavy, Bulky and complex Waste to process.
• Requires special logistics and new handling facilities, with new e-waste processing Technology.
In prior art, there is no organized collection system for collection of electronic waste and operation processes are highly polluting. Different systems have been suggested to try to combat the waste of raw materials and environmental pollution caused by the increasing load of electronic waste. Most of the end users keep the e-scrap in warehouses, garages or attics. Recycling operations engage in: dismantling, sale of dismantled parts, valuable resource recovery and export of processed waste for precious metal recovery. So there is a need for a system for regulation of the electronic waste followed by its collection and storage, transportation, import, export, environmentally sound recycling, treatment and disposal of e-waste. The present invention is a system for recycling of electronic waste and for electronic waste management through e-commerce platform.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
An object of the present invention is to provide a system for regulation of the electronic waste followed by its collection and storage, transportation, import, export, environmentally sound recycling, treatment and disposal of e-waste.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system for collection of electronic waste and to provide a system which is pollution free.
Other objects and benefits of the present invention will be more apparent from the following description, which is not intended to bind the scope of the present invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
Accordingly, a system for regulation of the electronic waste followed by its collection and storage, transportation, import, export, environmentally sound recycling, treatment and disposal of e-waste is provided. The system for recycling and management of electronic waste comprising of;
a. An internal database of the e-commerce website for storing consumer information;
b. Collection unit for Collection of unused electronic devices;
c. Separation unit for separating plastic and metal parts of the electronic device followed by selling of the dismantled parts;
d. Recycle unit for recycling of the metal parts;
e. Disposal unit for disposal of the unused parts.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING:
Fig 1 shows flowchart for system for recycling of electronic waste.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention is a system for recycling of electronic waste. The present invention provides a system for regulation of the electronic waste followed by its collection and storage, transportation, import, export, environmentally sound recycling, treatment and disposal of e-waste. The present invention is a pollution free system. The present invention provides Cost effective, high efficiency solutions for e-waste management to help extend useful life of electronics and promote reuse.
In one embodiment, user registers on website. User orders electronic devices from website. All the electronic devices have some warranty period. After few years, any user who registers on website observes some new products/technologies in the market, he/she will immediately try to buy the new products and will replace the old products. In that case, the present system collects the electronic devices from the user, classifies the electronic devices, dismantles the parts of the electronic devices and if some parts are recyclable, recycles them which ultimately reduces environmental pollution.
In another embodiment, the user interface of the website stores all the consumer information and sends emails and notifications of the new products to the user periodically. When user orders an electronic device from a website, after certain period of use of the electronic device, user replaces it and finds products with advanced features in the market. The present invention provides a system which provides discarding of the former electronic devices by them after buying of new products by the user. The system offers a part of the compensation to the user.
In the e commerce website, when the user orders any electronic item such as mobile phones or laptops and so on, and in case the item becomes unsuable, the user can return the item to the website for which the user will be giver certain compensation and the electronic item will be recycled. If the electronic devices completely becomes scrapped, for eg: if phone battery is dead, and cannot be replaced or phone model is outdated and user is unable to get the parts. Then the system sends emails to the user about collection of the electronic devices and recycle it to combat environmental pollution.
In one embodiment, the system for recycling and management of electronic waste comprising of;
a. An internal database of the e-commerce website for storing consumer information;
b. Collection unit for Collection of unused electronic devices;
c. Separation unit for separating plastic and metal parts of the electronic device followed by selling of the dismantled parts;
d. Recycle unit for recycling of the metal parts;
e. Disposal unit for disposal of the unused parts.
In another embodiment, metal parts include metal parts and metal earth parts. Electronic waste comprises circuit boards, chips, electrical outlets, TVs, computer monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, cables, circuit boards, lamps, clocks, flashlight, calculators, phones, answering machines, digital/video cameras, radios, VCRs, DVD players, MP3 and CD players, Kitchen equipment such as toasters, coffee makers, microwave ovens , Laboratory equipment such as hot plates, microscopes, calorimeters , Broken computer monitors, television tubes (CRTs).
In another embodiment, recycling is carried out as follows:
For eg: mobile phone recycling is carried out with the scanning of the electronic device followed by updating it within the system. After unloading, electronic parts are separated for recycling and refurbishing. In refurbishing section , electronic devices are further tested and one with the heavy wear and tear are sent back to the recycling section. Mobiles for recycling are manually dismantled, the parts like battery, flat panel/LCD, plastic, PCB are separated. All separated components are recycled . The separated components are recycled in different sections.
In another embodiment, e-waste disposal and management system helps in saving natural resources like gold and silver as well as rare earth metals as we get them through recycling of smart phone. It also helps in lesser carbon emissions. The cheaper refurbished or reused smartphones will enable majority of people to connect and have access to internet.
