Abstract: Present subject matter relates to integration of a hoist function with a controller of a dump truck. When dump truck is in motion and operator accidentally actuates the hoist this leads to tremendous damage. The controller system monitors the running condition of dump truck and provide an interlock for hoist operation to avoid any accidental damage. The hoist control system is used to control a position of a dump body through a microprocessor, which monitors the traveling condition of a dump truck and through centralized display unit functional key controls hoist position. The controller checks input by operator to hoist and if the dump truck is in motion then it does not allow the operation of hoist. Moreover, the controller checks the neutral state of vehicle and if not in neutral state then the solenoid does not allow hydraulic valve to open, restricting the operation of raising the hoist of dump truck.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS AND PRIORITY
[001] The present invention claims priority from Indian patent Provisional Application 202041004184 filed on 30 January 2020.
TECHNICAL FIELD
[002] The present subject matter described herein, in general, relates to integration of a hoist function and more particularly relates to integration of the hoist function with the controller to control hoist movement.
BACKGROUND
[003] In a conventional dump truck, material such as dirt, sand or gravel is transported from one location to another and then "dumped" on the ground. The material is dumped by elevating one end of the dump bed such that the material slides out the other end. The dump bed is elevated by means of a hoist operated by a hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump is powered by engine power diverted to the pump by means of a power take-off ("PTO"). The PTO is a supplementary mechanism that enables engine power to be used for auxiliary systems on the dump truck, such as the hydraulic pump.
[004] In order to raise the dump bed, the dump truck driver or operator engages the PTO, which diverts engine power to the hydraulic pump. The driver then engages the hydraulic pump which operates the hoist and lifts the dump truck bed. The PTO and the hydraulic pump are engaged by means of a controller generally located in the cab of the truck.
[005] A hoist is a device used for lifting or lowering a load by means of a drum or lift-wheel around which rope or chain wraps. It may be manually operated, electrically or pneumatically driven and may use chain, fiber or wire rope as its lifting medium. The hoist control system is used to control the rising, lowering float & holding condition of the dump body through dashboard mounted pushbutton switch (momentary). The dump body can be positioned in any of the state (i.e. RAISE, LOWER, FLOAT and HOLD) through pushbutton switch.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[006] The main object of the invention is to integrate a hoist logic with an existing controller.
[007] Another object of the invention is to provide interlock to avoid any accidental actuation of hoist system.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0015] Some embodiments of this disclosure, illustrating all its features, will now be discussed in detail. The words “comprising”, “having”, and “including,” and other forms thereof, are intended to be equivalent in meaning and be open ended in that an item or items following any one of these words is not meant to be an exhaustive listing of such item or items, or meant to be limited to only the listed item or items. The disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the disclosure, which may be embodied in various forms..
[0016] Various modification to the embodiment will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art and the generic principles herein may be applied to another embodiment. However, one of ordinary skill in the art will readily recognize that the present disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments illustrated but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the principles and features described herein..
[0017] The present disclosure discloses a system and method for integration of a hoist function with a controller. The hoist control system is used to control a position of a dump body through a dashboard mounted pushbutton switch (momentary). The present invention uses a microprocessor base I/O module that monitors the traveling condition of a dump truck & centralized display unit functional key for control position of dump body. The I/O module further provides an interlock for the hoist system to avoid any accidental actuation of hoist system.
[0018] Figure 1 illustrates the block diagram for a hoist system. The input switches (10) are configured near dashboard of dump truck with a controller (20) to actuate the hydraulic valve via solenoid output (20) to allow hydraulic fluid for movement. The dump body may be positioned in any of the state (i.e. RAISE, LOWER and HOLD) through a function key of LCD centralize display. Based on the input signal received, a I/O module will actuate the solenoid which in turn control the hydraulic valve for performing of dump body operation.
[0019] Figure 2 illustrates functioning of the hoist system. Figure shows corresponding outputs based on selection of function key of LCD centralize display buttoned. When a raised functional key button is pressed, a digital signal sent to a I/O module. Subsequently, I/O module check for a neutral signal and if equipment is in a neutral condition, then the I/O module may latch a digital output (Sink Mode) to enable the raise solenoid (solenoid high). Further, if the equipment is not in the neutral condition, the I/O module will disable the signal to raise solenoid. Further, on receiving a body limit switch signal, the digital output to raise solenoid is disable (solenoid low). However, if any functional key button is pressed (i.e. Lower/Float or Hold) during raising operation of body, the output to raise the solenoid is disable. The buzzer warning is activated when the body is in the raise condition and standard body up symbol as per SAE will be appear on the centralized LCD display.
[0020] Further, the invention can be used, but not limited to, in the following applications.
[0021] Exemplary embodiments discussed above may provide certain advantages. Though not required to practice aspects of the disclosure, these advantages may include those provided by the following features.
[0022] Some embodiment may provide more flexibility for a hoist operation. Further, safety interlock can be provided to avoid any accidental actuation of hoist system.
