, Description:TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates generally to computer network communications. The present invention more particularly relates to analysis of Internet traffic to a website.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
The density of data present in any network is the network traffic. A lot of communication devices are trying to access resources and getting requests to carry out some work for some other device. Some communication devices are busy as they cannot respond to the request .So a lot of information exchange is needed in the form of request, response and control data which is in the form of a huge number of packets floating around the network. So it causes delay in communication activities resulting in network congestion.
Internet traffic management is monitoring the flow of web application traffic over a network. For efficient, fixed-line working of the networks, mobile internet service providers (ISPs) can restrict or ration traffic on their networks, or give priority to some types of traffic over others during peak periods. The information used to get packets to their destinations are contained in routing tables kept by each router connected to the Internet. Routers are packet switches. A router is usually connected between networks to route packets between them. Traffic classification is an automated process which categorizes computer network traffic according to various parameters (for example, based on port number or protocol) into a number of traffic classes such as – LAN, MAN and WAN.
“Load balancing” refers to techniques used to distribute incoming service requests evenly among multiple servers such that the load distribution is transparent to users which are necessary. Various load balancing algorithms and techniques can be used to determine the specific type of server is able to handle such type of client requests.
If server is not responding to any requests made by the client, at that time, out of band probes can be used for connecting specific protocol destination ports. If there is lack of response from the server, then it is assumed that server is not healthy. The performance of a website directly impacts its success or failure in serving its objective. When a website is slow, users have to spend more time waiting and become less productive. They lose patience, abandon their activities and leave the website. Users avoid coming back to slower websites as they used to faster performance results in more pleasant user experience. Users become more productive.
Log Analysis for Web Traffic is carried out by reading the log file followed by analysis of log entries leading to traffic analysis results. There are several drawbacks using log analysis tools. These tools typically do not provide a real-time view of the website traffic data. They simply analyze the traffic log data files when the tools are executed. Website owners who operate very high-traffic sites often disable logging, because of inadequate computer resources to operate both the file server function and the traffic logging function. This severely reduces the effectiveness of log-based analysis. Website owners who do not host their sites may need to obtain permission to install traffic analysis software at their hosting provider. The system resources required to perform the log analysis function are such that log analysis can impede website performance, slowing down responses to web browsers who want to view the website.
Log files transferring have some drawbacks such as a single day's log file for a busy web site represents hundreds of megabytes of data and an additional system. Website owners may choose to use the services of an Internet-based traffic analysis service. Such services are notified of each website visit through Internet communication features of the http specification and prepare statistical reports for client website owners.
The Internet-based analysis typically relies on special html code inserted into the home page of a website. Internet-based analysis tools can count requests for a source file regardless of the actual location of the source file. The Internet-based analysis tools use embedded html code containing a graphical element with a source location directing a browser to the computers of the traffic analysis service. Internet-based tools only collect statistics when a page containing the html code is viewed, so that visits to all other pages are ignored. Thus, the Internet-based analysis tools can be an improvement over log-based tools, because the Internet tools do not require the transfer of large log files for processing, but typical Internet-based tools do not account for and do not collect data on multiple visits to a website by the same visitor. Conventional Internet-based traffic analysis tools do not indicate the actual sequence, or path, followed by a website visitor from page to page of a website. The website path taken by visitors can be very important for identifying the most viewed or least popular pages of a website. Client side browser performance can be optimized and the unique strength of a particular browser can be exploited to build a higher performing website.
So there is need for the techniques for monitoring server health and decreasing the processing burden on a website server and efficient analysis of website traffic patterns with sufficient detail so that visits to each page of a web site can be accounted for and a visitor's path through the pages of a website can be tracked, all without unduly taxing the resources of the website. The present invention is an internet traffic management system in which incoming client requests are directed to the server machines and move packets based on many factors such as priority, load balancing or security.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
The main object of the present invention is to monitor techniques for server health and decrease the processing burden on a website server.
Yet another object of the present invention is to do efficient analysis of website traffic patterns with sufficient detail.
Yet another object of the present invention is to visit to each page of a web site and to track a visitor's path through the pages of a website.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention is a system for Internet traffic management and method thereof. The present invention provides a Internet traffic management tool for monitoring server health and decreasing the processing burden on a server cluster and efficient analysis of website traffic patterns with sufficient detail.
If a visitor requests a webpage, the state of the visitor’s browser including time, the page visited, the website path (URL) is recorded and is maintained in traffic analysis. The website browser path is passed from server to every website page that is visited. Some computers are managed to monitor the traffic analysis. Thus analysis of traffic of each webpage is carried out. Every website page requested by a website visitor is recorded. The clock time and the browser visited is recorded. The state of a visitor’s path is maintained in traffic analysis. The cookie is maintained in a size that can be passed from server to browser. User requests for particular website pages are considered. This process continues until the visitor leaves the web site, or until the cookie has expired.
The functions of website file server and traffic analysis cookie management can be handled by respective traffic analysis computers. The data in the traffic analysis cookie can follow the visitor browser through independent web file servers. So the page-by-page analysis of website traffic patterns for each website visitor is carried out.
The present invention also permits the website owner to monitor changes to a website in real time, reduces the time taken to understand the impact of the changes. Website owners can follow a browser path over multiple file servers. Thus the invention permits monitoring of website traffic for websites that are hosted across several independent file servers.
In one embodiment, the system and method for managing internet traffic comprising of: a website server; user PC/tablet/laptop; analyzing system, wherein the analyzing system analyzes the type of information accessed by most of the users. Analyzing system are the monitoring computers.
In another embodiment, the method for managing internet traffic through content switching comprising of: identifying a web page in the website as a home page; embedding traffic analysis code in the home page; analyzing the type of information accessed by most of the users; prioritizing the users for access of pay per view content; and allowing the website owner to monitor website traffic patterns, wherein the accession of the type of information and prioritization of users for access of pay per view content are done.
The first page to which the visitor visited determines the start of the visitor’s path. Each page request contains an http header with the URL to which the connection is associated. The monitoring computers manage the work flow. A cookie is a data structure written to a browser computer, e.g. upon an initial visit to an Internet website in response to server-side processing. Thereafter, when the browser again requests a page from a website, the browser will automatically provide the stored cookie along with the request for a page. A website cookie and a webpage cookie are initially produced by the measurement program arranged in the measurement server and the cookies are returned to the browser computer with the measurement element source file. The browser stores the cookies on the browser computer in accordance with the conventional browser operation. The remaining website page elements, such as text and other images, are preferably provided by the www server.
The user requests a website page from a browser location bar, page link, from another webpage or bookmark. When a browser is first launched, the browser identifies the websites and webpages for which it has cookies. Thereafter, if the user directs the browser to one of the identified websites, the browser automatically provides the cookies with its request for a page from the website. The browser displays the appropriate html code and the measurement element source, and stores the received cookies. Browser operation then continues. Thus, the implementation of web traffic measurement takes place by cookie updating and exchanging.
Page requests, transferred data, cookie exchanges are carried out through http (hypertext transfer protocol).Every page by page flow is monitored as a visitor travels through the website. . Every page requested and viewed by that visitor is recorded and maintained in the traffic analysis cookie, which is passed back and forth between the visitor browser and the traffic analysis server to maintain a record of the visitor website path. New data pertaining to the site's dynamics is thereby collected and analyzed with every passing of the cookie. This process continues until the visitor leaves the web site, or until the cookie has expired. The present invention permits monitoring of website traffic even for websites that are hosted across several independent file servers.
For every website page requested by a website visitor, the state of the visitor's browser is recorded. The state includes the clock time and an indication of every page at the website visited by the browser during the current visit. In this way, data relating to the path visitors take through a website can be accurately collected and studied. The state of the visitor's browser path is maintained in a traffic analysis cookie that is passed between a traffic analysis file server and the visitor browser with every website page requested from the website file server for viewing.
The present invention provides a single point or a single region to manage telecommunication traffic including directory services and bandwidth management. The present invention provides more valued applications and users with a more reliable and faster service.
