System For Stable Suspension Of Microbeads And Uses Thereof

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for stable suspension of large sized microbeads in formulations, which can be used for cleansing purposes. In particular, there is provided a combination of two polymers, acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer, and acrylates crosspolymer, which when present at particular w/w ratios and weight percentages in a formulation are able to keep the microbeads stably suspended in the formulation

Specification

Claims:1. A system for suspending microbeads in a formulation, said system comprising:
a. acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer; and
b. acrylates crosspolymer,
wherein acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer to acrylates crosspolymer w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 1:0.81-1:1.22.

2. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 1.26-1.76%, and acrylates crosspolymer weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 1.26-1.76%.

3. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein said formulation viscosity is in the range of 3000-6000cps.

4. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein said formulation is visually transparent.

5. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein of said microbeads in said formulation, 0.1-10% of total microbeads have size of 900 microns, and at least 70% of total microbeads have size of 500 microns.

6. A formulation comprising:
a. acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer;
b. acrylates crosspolymer,
c. microbeads; and
d. at least one cosmetically acceptable ingredient,
wherein acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer to acrylates crosspolymer w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 1:0.81-1:1.22.
7. The formulation as claimed in claim 6, wherein of said microbeads, 0.1-10% of total microbeads have size of 900 microns, at least 70% of total microbeads have size of 500 microns.

8. The formulation as claimed in claim 6, wherein acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 1.26-1.76%, and acrylates crosspolymer weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 1.26-1.76%.

9. The formulation as claimed in claim 6, wherein said formulation viscosity is in the range of 3000-6000 cps.

10. The formulation as claimed in claim 6, wherein and said formulation is visually transparent.

11. The formulation as claimed in claim 6 comprising:
a. acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 1.26-1.76%;
b. acrylates crosspolymer having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 1.26-1.76%;
c. ethylene diamine tetraacetate having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.05-0.2%;
d. isopropyl myristate having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.5-1.2%;
e. butylated hydroxy toluene having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.01-0.1%;
f. PEG 40- hydrogenated castor oil having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.8-1.5%;
g. lauryl glucoside having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 5-10%;
h. PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 1.2-2.5%;
i. sodium lauroyl sarcosinate having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 6-12%;
j. cocoamido propyl betaine having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 6-12%;
k. polysorbate 20 having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.5-1%;
l. vitamin E acetate having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.05-0.5%;
m. glycerine having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.5-1.5%;
n. sodium pyroglutamic acid having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.1-0.5%;
o. DMDM hydantoin having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.1-0.5%;
p. D-panthenol having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.2-1%;
q. di sodium laureth sulfosuccinate having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 4-10%;
r. decyl glucoside having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 1-5%;
s. microbeads having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 0.1-0.3%; and
t. water to make up to 100%.

12. The formulation as claimed in claim 11 comprising:
a. acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 1.4-1.6%;
b. acrylates crosspolymer having weight percentage in said formulation in the range of 1.4-1.6%;
c. ethylene diamine tetraacetate having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.1%;
d. isopropyl myristate having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.8%;
e. butylated hydroxy toluene having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.05%;
f. PEG 40- hydrogenated castor oil having weight percentage in said formulation of 1.2%;
g. lauryl glucoside having weight percentage in said formulation of 7%;
h. PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate having weight percentage in said formulation of 1.8%;
i. sodium lauroyl sarcosinate having weight percentage in said formulation of 9%;
j. cocoamido propyl betaine having weight percentage in said formulation of 9%;
k. polysorbate 20 having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.7%;
l. vitamin E acetate having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.2%;
m. glycerine having weight percentage in said formulation of 1%;
n. sodium pyroglutamic acid having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.2%;
o. DMDM hydantoin having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.3%;
p. D-panthenol having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.5%;
q. di sodium laureth sulfosuccinate having weight percentage in said formulation of 8%;
r. decyl glucoside having weight percentage in said formulation of 3%;
s. microbeads having weight percentage in said formulation of 0.15%; and
t. water to make up to 100%.

13. The formulation as claimed in any the claims 11 or 12, wherein said formulation viscosity is 5600cps.

14. A method of preparing a formulation as claimed in claim 6, said method comprising:
a. obtaining an aqueous solution of acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer;
b. obtaining an aqueous solution of acrylates crosspolymer;
c. obtaining a pre-mix of at least one cosmetically acceptable ingredient;
d. mixing the aqueous solution obtained from steps (a) and (b) sequentially with the pre-mix at a temperature in the range of 50-60oC to obtain an emulsion; and
e. adding microbeads to emulsion at a temperature in the range of 30-40oC to obtain said formulation.

15. A method of preparing a formulation as claimed in claim 11 or 12, said method comprising:
a. obtaining an aqueous solution of acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer;
b. obtaining an aqueous solution of acrylates crosspolymer;
c. obtaining a pre-mix of ethylene diamine tetraacetate, isopropyl myristate, butylated hydroxy toluene, PEG 40- hydrogenated castor oil, lauryl glucoside, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, cocoamido propyl betaine, polysorbate 20, vitamin E acetate, glycerine, sodium pyroglutamic acid, DMDM hydantoin, D-panthenol, di sodium laureth sulfosuccinate, and decyl glucoside;
d. mixing the aqueous solution obtained from steps (a) and (b) sequentially with the pre-mix at a temperature in the range of 50-60oC to obtain an emulsion; and
e. adding microbeads to emulsion at a temperature in the range of 30-40oC to obtain said formulation.

16. The method as claimed in claim 14 or 15, wherein in step (a) acrylates/steareth-20 methacrylate crosspolymer to water w/w ratio is 2:1, and in step (b) acrylates crosspolymer to water w/w ratio is 2:1.
