System/Method For Simplyfying The G Drive Download Function

Abstract: The Google drive will make that folder at a max size of 2GB parts each; for an example if a folder is a total size of 8GB then the google drive will make zip files of 2GB each then we will get 2GB x 4 files in downloading process. There are multiple disadvantages for this process. Time is consumed during zipping process by the browser (Depends on Size of folder) which can be 1 minute to 15 minutes. So, the proposed invention will overcome these problems with taking a simple input of URL of that folder and outputs the folder in local drive with the same directory structure format. This invention will be portable i.e can work on any operating system. A Progress bar which shows the process of how many files have been downloaded. Description: Field of Invention
The present invention relates to simplifying the download functionalities of Google Drive using enhanced zipping algorithm. This is mainly used to reduce the download time for large files.
The Objectives of this Invention
The purpose of the invention is G – Drive Manager application will take a simple input as URL of that folder and outputs the folder in local drive with the same directory structure format. The application will be portable i.e. can work on any operating system. A Progress bar which shows the process of how many files have been downloaded.
Background of the Invention
In recent years, the invention provides (US2012/9374359B2) a methodology as well as apparatus for gathering, consolidating, and then delivering sort of person information inside a bandwidth communication perspective. An envelope organizer gathers the data on database tables that are both locally and externally maintained.
Another type of application proposed in (US2014/20190320442A1), relates to message delivery and presentation structures and procedures for portable electronics. A message administrator receives the information from such a user device, which is then transmitted to an application that runs on a modern Smartphone. The message manager additionally holds the message in a message queue as part of the process. The (US2017/10880325B2), Technologies and platforms for transmitting as well as displaying messages to something like a computing device are described in this invention. A message administrator gets a message from the client machine and sends this to a system running on a modern Smartphone, according to the methodology. The message administrator must additionally keep the information in notifications queues as part of the approach.
Summary of the Invention
The proposed invention is to replace the download functionalities of Google Drive applications using enhanced Zip algorithms. There is an extension tool which works with chrome browser and is available in chrome store which helps to download multiple files and folder at a time without going through the zipping process.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A Desktop Application which takes the input as the URL which is produced by the folder when it gets shared. By taking the input the application will process and gets the information of that folder using Google-Drive API + Python. The information will be related to the file ids mapped with its parent folder ids. With the help of this data the application will recursively goes through each file and downloads it accordingly by creating folders and subfolders in order to create the exact directory structure format as viewed in the Google drive for that folder. In order to access the information the user needs to have a Google account and the application will need the access of it in order to interact with the Google drive APIs.
With the help of our proposed system the user will no longer need to wait for the process which is done by Google drive.
Also the user don’t need to worry about extracting the files after its get downloaded in order to access those files. The application will be portable and can be used in any operating system. There will be a progress bar which will show the percentage of how much progress has been done till the time. The folder structure should contains; File Name, File Type, File Size in the tree structure.
As the browsers are not able download a directory, the Google drive will compress the folder i.e. to convert it into a downloadable zip file. Here the number of zip file is not a unit number. It depends on the size of the folder. Google Drive will produce a max of 2 GB zip files, suppose for an example we have a folder which has contents of total size up to 8 GB, and then Google drive will generate 4 files. Google drive may take time to zips the folder and it depends on many factors such as server, file type, bandwidth. It may take from 30 seconds to 3 Hours. After the compressing step is done the files get downloaded and again, we need to extract them in our local file system. The whole thing is a time taking process and during extraction RAM+CPU time is also consumed. The above problem will be solved by our tool by taking input as an URL and download all the files and grouping them in the same directory structure format as viewed in Google Drive. Here the Time is saved that was spent during extracting and zipping by user and the browser.
For a simple use case of this inventions will follows the; Download files from Google Drive and Upload files to Google Drive. Then search for files and folders stored in Google Drive. Create complex search queries that return any of the file metadata fields in the files resource. Let users share files, folders and drives to collaborate on content. After that, combine with the Google Picker API to search all files in Google Drive, then return the file name, URL, last modified date, and user. Then see that is external links to data stored outside of Drive, in a different data store or cloud storage system. Finally, create a dedicated Drive folder to store your application’s data so that the app cannot access the entire user's content stored in Google Drive. See Store application-specific data. Claim:
1. A system/method for simplifying the download functionalities of Google Drive, said system/method comprising the steps of:
a) The system starts with Google Drive storage (1), then anyone going to download the multiples files from Google Drive.
b) The Zipping (2) is triggered based on the request; the extraction (3) can be done using the enhanced zipping algorithms and stored it on local machine (4).
2. As mentioned in claim 1, the users can store N number of files, folders, images in Google Drive.
3. According to claim 1, the users try to download a folder, then proposed zipping inventions will start to convert folders into a zipped format.
4. According to claim 1, the extraction and storage can be done at the receiver end.
