System/Method To Vote Using Blockchain Technology

Abstract: Vote counting is becoming ever more common in today's society. It has a great deal of promise to cut down on administrative costs and boost democratic turnout. Voters can now cast their ballots from any location via the Internet, doing away with the requirement for polling stations or postal votes. Although those benefits, electronic voting procedures are nonetheless considered with great care since they carry additional hazards. Large-scale vote manipulation could result from a single error. Voting systems must be reliable, precise, secure, and practical when used in elections. Recognition could be constrained, though, by the potential for problems with electronic voting procedures. Blockchain technology, which offers decentralised nodes for casting votes, was developed to overcome these issues. Due to the advantages of end-to-end validation, it is frequently used to build electronic voting mechanisms. 4 Claims & 1 Figure

Specification

Description:Field of Invention
The present invention is relating to a system and method for conducting elections in various fields in a secure manner using blockchain technology.
The Objectives of this Invention
The invention's major goal is to help the Government, Private companies and Various educational institutes to conduct elections to elect a right person using a decentralized networking principle. In the recent years, our entire nation facing the issue to stop the false voting in the elections. In order to solve this, we are planning to introduce the blockchain based E-Voting mechanisms.
Background of the Invention
In the advancement of technologies, we are following the traditional voting mechanisms to elect their leaders. The traditional voting mechanisms there is lot of loop holes to do the casting of others. To solve these issues, we incorporating the recent technologies like blockchain technology-based voting system.
In (US2017/0109955A1), the present invention offers block-chain digital voting system that is comprised of a casting votes customer designed to digitally deliver data for voting authorization and voting choices for one or more competitions in the voting; a voting identification computer constructed to verify or reject voting suitability for trying to post the voting determinations in the leadership contest; and a registrar host constructed to use an automatic system for distancing voters from their votes. Another invention (US2020/0258338A1), an election system can take advantage of postal and cryptocurrency security to deliver a trustworthy election system. A machine accessible code is mailed to a registered democrat who then uses it to verify their identification and the accuracy of their vote registration. To guarantee vote privacy, the system isolates voter id from votes, and vote totals are stored on a decentralized system in a chain.
The (N. Kshetri and J. Voas [2018], IEEE Software, vol. 35, no. 4, pp. 95-99) E-voting with blockchain support (BEV) could lower fraudulently voting and broaden voter participation. Those who are eligible to vote use a desktop or a mobile phone to submit an impartial voting. BEV makes use of tamper-proof individual IDs and a secured key. This article discusses a few BEV deployments along with upsides and difficulties of the strategy. Another (chinnasamy et al [2023], E-Voting System Using Blockchain, In: Mandal, J.K., Hinchey, M., Rao, K.S. (eds) Innovations in Signal Processing and Embedded Systems. Algorithms for Intelligent Systems. Springer, Singapore), Cryptographic algorithms can be used to create a secure e-voting system even while preserving the anonymity of the users, or ballots. The Ethereum platform is the best ideal for using smart contract principles. The Ethereum cryptocurrency and the solidity programming language are used in this project's creation and evaluation of an e-voting software solution as a shared ledger for the Ethereum blockchain.
Summary of the Invention
The proposed invention will be helpful for the all the Government, educational institutes as well as private company peoples conduct the elections based on the blockchain technology.

Detailed Description of the Invention
The proposed invention consists of two step processes like Face recognition and casting the votes.
Our proposed system involves an E-Voting application with face recognition for authentication. The front end of the application focuses on user registration and verification through face recognition. This voting application uses Ethereum Blockchain technology to improve security and enhance the voting experience of the user. The voter will have to register and give his image during the process of registration which will be saved in the database. Then the user can login at the time window provided during the election to cast the vote. The voter's face is verified and is allowed to vote if the face authentication is successful. For face recognition, OpenCV and face recognition modules are used. For Ethereum blockchain implementation, Truffle framework is used in combination with ganache for test ether and meta mask for establishing connection with the Ethereum Blockchain. Django Framework is used in the front end along with html, CSS for styling of the web pages. MySQL database is used for storing user data. Once the voter is registered and authentication procedures are complete, they will be provided with a private key which will be used to set up the meta mask account of the voter for voting. This private key is taken from Ganache where 10 accounts are provided.
The User module in this application involves:
User registration: The user will have to register before giving his/her vote. The registration process involves giving details such as name, address, phone number, passport size photo etc. After successful registration, it displays that the voter has been registered. User Login: After registration, the user will have to login to his/her account to vote for their respective leader. To login to their accounts, voters will have to give the name and password which they gave during the time of registration.
Face Authentication: After successful login, to cast their votes users will have to provide a snapshot of their faces so that face authentication can take place. For face authentication, the user will be requested for camera access and after proper comparison, if authentication succeeds then he will be redirected to the voting page. Voting: Once face recognition is complete the user is automatically redirected to the voting page where the user can cast their vote. The cast vote is stored on the Ethereum blockchain which is connected to the front end of the application and is triggered as soon as face verification is completed.
