Systemand Method For Cooling Super Conducting Device.

Abstract: A system and method for cooling a superconductive rotor coil (74). The system comprises a rotatable shaft (18) coupled to the superconductive rotor coil (74). The rotatable shaft (18) may comprise an axial passageway (58) extending through the rotatable shaft (18)and a first passageway (56) extending through a wall of the rotatable shaft (18) to the axial passageway (58). The axial passageway (58) and the first passageway (56) are operable to convey a cryogenic fluid (24) to the superconductive rotor coil (74) through the wall of the rotatable shaft (18). A cryogenic transfer coupling (22) may be provided to supply cryogenic fluid (24) tot he first passageway (56).
