Systems And Methods For Automatically Opening Hinged Components Of Electronic Devices
Abstract: An automatically opening hinged component (12) of computing devices (10) is provided. One of the computing device (10) and a hinged component (12) may include an electrical winding or coil (62) while the other may include a magnet (50). When current is applied to the electrical winding (62) (e. g., in a direction (63) opposite of the North/South direction of the magnets" magnetic field), the electrical winding (62) may generate a magnetic field opposite that repels (68) the magnet"s magnetic field. The magnetic repulsion (68) may cause the hinged component (12) to separate from the rest (16) of the computing device (10), thereby opening the hinged component (12). When the current is removed from the electrical winding (62), the electrical winding (62) may no longer generate a magnetic field, enabling the hinged component (12) to be closed.
