,TagSPECI:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of business transformation, particularly to business transformation based on life coaching and leadership mentoring.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Business transformation is bringing about a change in the nature, character or shape of the way business is carried out. A business is made unique by its ways of existence and manner of creating or capturing value. The uniqueness is created and reflected by the people who are involved in the process. Hence every business has a unique DNA. Therefore “one size fits all” approach typically observed in traditional business transformation systems and methods may not be effective for all types of business. For instance, family run businesses are majorly influenced by the values and culture of the family that is actively involved in the business operation. Such values and culture are generally more pervasive than seen in other types of businesses where a change is imminent with a change in leadership. It therefore becomes very critical to analyze core values of the leaders that are instrumental in the way the business shapes.
[0003] Business transformation methodology known in the art is based on restoring profitability of the business based on assessment of the scenarios, planning, re-engineering and implementing control measures to prevent future losses. Some endeavors have been made wherein the methodology involves collecting data pertaining to patterns of interaction among people in an organization and analyzing their relationships with respect to specific organizational processes and issues. Another traditional approach involves supplementing the shortage the up-skilling ratio of the company and standard up-skilling ratio. Some other conventional approaches include determining a business’s innovation capabilities to forecast future growth and profitability of the business, coaching people to think for themselves and promote self reliant growth by group training or using tools like e-mails, websites, etc., comparing existing mode of operation with a standard innovation business mode and judging the innovation condition of the enterprise or by performing a result oriented, real time performance analysis of the business to determine cost, adequacy, growth and risk profile of the business among its result areas - Business Planning, Sales Enhancement, Cost Reduction and Operational Excellence.
[0004] Each of the above mentioned methodologies aim to provide a common solution to every type of business and hence may not be effective for successful business transformation. These methodologies ignore the people behind the business and tend to concentrate on the processes and systems in business transformation. The present invention in its various embodiments addresses the above and other possible needs relating to the field of business transformation.

SUMMARY
[0005] Aspects of present disclosure relate to systems and methods for business transformation that adopt a focused and holistic approach and are based on the identity of the sources to align business strategy and vision with that of the sources.
[0006] In accordance with an aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for transforming a business that can include a step of receiving a list of plurality of sources associated with the business. Once the list of sources is received, a first repository of source metadata associated with the plurality of sources is created such that the source metadata is referenced to the present state of the plurality of sources. A first historical time series data of a plurality of metrics mapped to the source metadata across a business lifeline is then generated. A first set of transforming rules that can be configured to modify the reference time associated with the source metadata is created. The modified source metadata is then received and compiled to create a second repository of the modified source metadata. A second historical time series data of at least some of the plurality of metrics mapped to the modified source metadata across a memory lifeline is then generated. The first historical time series data and the second historical time series data are analyzed to re-define business goals. A second set of transforming rules is then generated to align business processes with the re-defined business goals.
[0007] In accordance with another aspect, the present disclosure provides a system for business transformation that can include a first input module that receives a list of plurality of sources associated with the business. The system can further include a first compiler that can be configured to compile and create a first repository of source metadata associated with the plurality of sources, the source metadata being referenced to the present state of the plurality of sources. [0024] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for business transformation. The fundamental approach of the systems and methods of the present disclosure are best understood by reference to figures, wherein an exemplary embodiment of a family business has been considered for the purpose of explanation.
[0025] FIG. 1 illustrates exemplary business transformation system architecture 100 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure and FIG. 2 illustrates exemplary life cycle 200 of business transformation in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The system of the present disclosure provides a sustainable approach to business transformation and is based predominantly on the values and culture of the sources associated with the business. This ensures that business transformation and its outcome are aligned with the expressions of the sources. For instance, in a family business, the owners who serve as leaders of the business have multifaceted roles that they play. Each source may exercise at least some of the roles from being a family member, a business leader, a sports person, an entertainer, and the like. Although each source expresses himself in different ways, these expressions identify his ‘identity’ which is an intrinsic trait that can substantially influence the business he leads.
[0026] Life coaching engine 102 forms a key component of the exemplary architecture 100 of the business transformation system illustrated in FIG. 1. In accordance with an embodiment, the life coaching engine can be configured to ensure that the personal lives of the sources of the business stay functional while the business undergoes transformation. “Who You Are” or the “identity” of each source of the business information tends to get overwhelmed or lost in the race of fitting in and compliance. Life coaching engine 102 can be configured to awaken the “identity” and unleash the potential 202 of each of the sources. Leaders who have clarity on their values and understand their “identity” are capable of co-creating change visions 204 for effective business transformation consistent with the values that are pervasive across the sources.
[0027] Leadership mentoring engine 104 forms another key component of the exemplary architecture 100 of the business transformation system illustrated in FIG. 1. In accordance with an embodiment, leadership mentoring engine 104 can be configured to ensure the sources develop choices 206 and translate the choices 208 such that they themselves along with the business remain as true expressions of “Who You Are” and “What You Choose to Become”. Since business environment is dynamic and constantly evolving, it is imperative that the values, believes, motives and drivers of the sources are repeatedly evaluated to ensure that sources are truly aware of the decisions made and their outcomes to sync the core identity of the sources with the business expressions.
[0028] Business transformation engine 106 forms yet another important component of the exemplary architecture 100 of the business transformation system illustrated in FIG. 1. In accordance with an embodiment, business transformation engine 106 can be configured to ensure state of the art processes, systems and technologies synergize to deliver metamorphic business transformation. Business transformation engine 106 focuses transformation on understanding the intent of the sources rather than assessing what is wrong with the business that needs to change. Expressions of the sources as a family and the business expressions are intertwined and leverage each other to create a desired future. Aligning the family and the business 210 ensures effective execution 212 of business transformation.
[0029] FIG. 3 illustrates exemplary functional modules for business transformation system 300 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In accordance with an embodiment, system 300 can include first input module 304 that can be configured to receive a list of plurality of sources 302-1, 302-2, …, 302-N (collectively referred as 302 hereinafter) associated with the business. System 300 can further include first compiler 306 that can be configured to compile and create a first repository of source metadata associated with the plurality of sources 302, the source metadata being referenced to the present state of the plurality of sources 302. Significant life events and one or more combinations of strengths, weaknesses, aspirations, motivations associated thereof that constitute the source metadata play an important role in defining moments that made an impact on the ways of thinking and doing by the sources and also throw light on the aspirations and motivations on which decisions were based by the sources. In accordance with an embodiment, system 300 can include a coalesce module (not particularly indicated) that can be configured to coalesce the source metadata associated with the plurality of sources 302 and generate a coalesced source metadata that can bring together the power of collective minds and hearts by compiling individual strengths, weaknesses, aspirations and motivations (SWAM). Coalesced source metadata can provide an overall picture of the family unit and also provide clarity on the unique way in which each value operates. Triggering of the sources viz., the family members in the instant embodiment can compel the sources to probe, challenge and reflect the roots of their decision making.
[0030] System 300 can further include first mapping module 308 that can be configured to generate a first historical time series data of a plurality of metrics mapped to the source metadata across a business lifeline to the present state of the business. FIG. 4 illustrates exemplary business profile mapping 400 for generating historical time series data wherein significant events Event 1, Event 2, Event 3,….are illustrated across a business lifeline. Besides raising conscious awareness of the decision making styles of the plurality of sources, there is a discovery of the values, beliefs, motives and drivers that have been applied throughout the business lifeline.
[0031] Having compiled source metadata pertaining to SWAM referenced to the current state of the plurality of sources 302 and generating a first historical time series data, system 300 then triggers the plurality of sources to fast forward their lives to a future date. System 300 can include transforming module 310 that can be configured to create a first set of transforming rules configured to modify the reference time associated with the source metadata. In accordance with an embodiment, such reference time could be a terminal phase of life of each source of the plurality of sources. System of the present disclosure aims for the sources to understand and build a sense of urgency towards the present state of thinking and doing. The present state may seem satisfactory when viewed in the present state. However, a review of the present state from a future reference time, particularly on the deathbed, can question the acceptability of the present state. System of the present disclosure via the first set of transforming rules created by transforming module 310 questions the desires of the plurality of sources 302 and raises their expectations. A review of the present using a future reference point helps trigger re-alignment of priorities of each of the plurality of sources 302. The values of the sources 302 and more importantly shared values of the family unit can be identified clearly and these shared values form the basis of decision making framework of the business.
[0032] FIG. 5 illustrates exemplary drive model 500 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure, based on desired strengths, weakness, renewed aspirations and renewed motivations (SWAM+) of the plurality of sources, derived by the first set of transforming rules and constituting modified source metadata. System 300 can include second input module 312 that can be configured to receive the modified source metadata. System 300 can further include second compiler 314 that can be configured to compile and create a second repository of the modified source metadata. The modified source metadata can be configured to include “matter most” aspects derived from the aspirations and motivations of the plurality of sources getting distilled through any technique such as the 5 Whys technique. For instance, in a family business unit, upon receipt of the first set of transforming rules, the plurality of sources 302 can be compelled to identify “matter most” aspects which in an embodiment can be reputation, school for the blind and/or happiness of children. These “matter most” aspects provide the drive or the intrinsic push to the plurality of sources towards their business goals.
[0033] FIG. 6 illustrates exemplary motive mining model 600 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure, wherein based on the 5 Whys technique, the “matter most” aspects or drives are confirmed. For instance, if a drive is “reputation”, the 5 Whys can receive responses like “because it is important to have a good reputation”, “because I want to create and sustain a name in the market”, because I want to give credibility to my lineage”, “because I want my family to be proud of me” and “because my family’s pride and approval means more than success” to confirm that “reputation” is one of the “matter most” aspects for a source.
[0034] FIG. 7 illustrates exemplary values / drives model 700 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Drives provide a platform of growth and values decide how the sources can achieve their motives which are essentially the reasons why the sources aim would aim for the “matter most” aspects. It will be appreciated that even in the absence of any overt reason for the “matter most”, prodding by the system of the present disclosure can rationalize the importance of the “matter most”. For instance, the motive behind “matter most” being “reputation” can be “approval by the family”. However, prodding by the system of the present disclosure can bring clarity to the mind of the source and the actual motive can be “goodwill associated with a good reputation”. Understanding the real motives and aligning the intrinsic energies of the plurality of sources for the real motives is very crucial since it makes the business transformation effective and improves the probability of achieving business goals faster.
[0035] System 300 can further include second mapping module 316 that can be configured to generate a second historical time series data of at least some of the plurality of metrics mapped to the modified source metadata across a memory lifeline to the present state of the business as illustrated in FIG. 4 wherein significant events Event 1 and Event 2 of the business lifeline are mapped as Event 1 on the memory lifeline. Likewise, significant Event 3, Event 4 and partially Event 5 are mapped as Event 4 on the memory lifeline and so on. Ambition, insanity and risk (AIR) profile in tandem with the business lifeline can trigger business behavior pattern identification across the lifeline. The second historical time series data can also remind the sources 302 of the sacrifices and efforts that have contributed to the business and motivate the sources to modify complacent behavior to achieve desired business goals.
[0036] System 300 can further include performance analyzing module 318 that can be configured to analyze the first historical time series data and the second historical time series data to re-define business goals. The inherent differences amongst the family members or the sources are analyzed and respected to build coalition amongst the members. Performance analyzing module 318 integrates the time series data or the SWAM and SWAM+ and provides a common ground to enable each of the plurality of sources to appreciate the critical differences and achieve business vision through informed and cohesive decision making that becomes instrumental in aligning the business with the core values of the family or the sources. Leveraging the clarity in decision making along with the heightened sense of urgency created by the first set of transforming rules created by transforming module 310 and renewed aspirations and motivations SWAM+ established by performance analyzing module 318, a perceptible clarity in goals and vision of each of the plurality of sources can be achieved which can help identify the latent shared purpose within themselves that may have been lost along the timeline or needs further nurturing. Transforming module 310 can be further configured to create a second set of transforming rules that align business processes with the re-defined business goals.
[0037] The second set of transforming rules customized to meet the re-defined business goals of the business under consideration finds its roots in the values and culture associated with the plurality of sources. The customized transforming rules can then be channelized to secondary sources such as business operating personnel at various levels of business management, at least some of who may serve as catalysts or enablers of the business and can contribute further directly or indirectly in re-defining the business goals. In an embodiment, first input module 204 can be further configured to receive secondary metadata associated with a plurality of secondary sources and the re-defined business goals can be further based on the secondary metadata.
[0038] In accordance with an embodiment, system 300 can further include predictive modeling module 320 that can be configured to predict an expected business behavior pattern based on the re-defined business goals. If the predictive business behavior pattern is found unacceptable or does not confirm within acceptable limits of deviation from desired business behavior pattern, the first set of transforming rules can be re-created to re-compile modified source metadata and accordingly generate a new second historical time series data that can be analyzed with the first historical time series data for re-defining business goals.
[0039] FIG. 8 illustrates exemplary roadmap 800 enabling manifestation of business goals. For instance, in a scenario wherein the business has had a hit on its profitability, system 300 analyzes SWAM and SWAM+ based time series data provided by performance analyzing module 318 and the second set of transforming rules can be configured to provide a roadmap for the business with strategic time bound milestones to lead the business towards the re-defined business goal, in the instant example being improved profitability. In an exemplary embodiment, if the analyses indicate lack of technical expertise amongst the plurality of sources to keep up with the state of the art, as illustrated, goal 1 of an exemplary embodiment can be hiring of technically competent personnel in X-months. Goal 2 of an exemplary embodiment can be training of the plurality of sources in the next Y-months to ensure the plurality of sources develop their technical expertise and are able to synergize the learnt skills with the collective co-created vision of the sources together as unit to better define business processes. Goal 3 of an exemplary embodiment can be creating of a training cell in the next Z-months to ensure that the market needs are monitored and tracked in real time and the sources and the secondary sources are maintained up-to-date with the state of the art.
[0040] In accordance with an embodiment, first input module 304, second input module 312, first compiler 306 and second compiler 314 can constitute life coaching engine 102 that can be configured to ensure personal lives of the plurality of sources stay functional while the business undergoes transformation; first mapping module 308, second mapping module 316 and performance analyzing module 318 can constitute leadership mentoring engine 104 that can be configured to ensure that ambition, insanity and risk associated with the plurality of sources and the business are in tandem; and transforming module 310 can constitute business transformation engine 106 that can be configured to ensure the business processes synergize to transform business and achieve desired business goals.
[0041] FIG. 9 illustrates a flow diagram 900 of the exemplary sequence of steps involved in a method for transforming business in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. At step 902, first input module 304 can receive a list of the plurality of sources associated with the business. In an exemplary embodiment, the business can be a family business and accordingly, the plurality of sources can be the key family members who would serve as leaders of the business. At step 904, first compiler 306 can compile and create a first repository of source metadata associated with the plurality of sources. The source metadata in an exemplary embodiment can include significant life events and one or more combinations of strengths, weaknesses, aspirations, motivations associated with those events that play an important role in defining moments that made an impact on the ways of thinking and doing by the sources and also throw light on the aspirations and motivations on which decisions were based by the sources as viewed in the present state. At step 906, first mapping module 308 can generate a first historical time series data of a plurality of metrics mapped to the source metadata across a business lifeline. Generating the first historical time series data raises conscious awareness of the decision making styles of the plurality of sources. At step 908, transforming module 310 can create a first set of transforming rules that modifies the reference time associated with the source metadata. For instance, the plurality of sources can review the significant events based on a future reference such as on a deathbed. This step intends to create a sense of urgency and eliminate latency that may have seeped in across the business lifeline. At step 910, second input module 312 can receive modified source metadata that is based on the first set of transforming rules. At step 912, second compiler 314 can compile and create a second repository of the modified source metadata. At step 914, second mapping module can generate a second historical time series data of at least some of the plurality of metrics mapped to the modified source metadata across a memory lifeline to the present state of the business. At step 916, performance analyzing module 318 analyzes the first historical time series data and the second historical time series data to re-define business goals. At step 918, transforming module 310 generates a second set of transforming rules to align business processes with the re-defined business goals.
[0042] In an embodiment, method of the present disclosure can further include a step wherein predictive modeling module 320 can predict an expected business behavior pattern based on the re-defined business goals and iteratively perform steps 908 through 918 until desired business behavior pattern is obtained.
