Systems, Methods And Computer Program Products For Biometrics Based Handling Of Chargeback Disputes

Abstract: The present invention provides systems, methods, and computer program products for biometric based authentication of electronic payment transactions, and for subsequent use of the same biometrics (i.e. that have been used for transaction authentication) to ascertain whether the transaction was legitimate or fraudulent, in the event that the transaction is ever disputed. The invention comprises (i) receiving a dispute query associated with a payment transaction, (ii) initiating retrieval of a biometric token associated with the payment transaction, and (iii) responsive to successful retrieval of a biometric token associated with the payment transaction, transmitting the retrieved biometric token for access at a terminal from which the dispute query has been received – wherein the biometric token includes data that enables retrieval of a biometric sample that was acquired at the time the payment transaction was implemented, and which was used for payment transaction authentication.
