TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION:
The Tape Cleaning Machine is a compact machine for the cleaning of
magnetic tape. During the operation of system, the magnetic Tape records /
reproduces information, passes over different rollers and two magnetic heads. Due
to this, after prolonged use, scratches and dusts are formed on the tape. This
reduces the recording and reproduction ability of the tape. This results in loss of
information.

C. Functional Characteristics:
The Tape Cleaning Equipment is having following features (See fig.-1
opposite):
1. Parallel heater plate (item no. 4) for drying.
2. Liquid cleaning bath (item no. 9 & 15).Containing a Mixture of absolute
alcohol and lead free petrol.
3. Rollers (item no.3,6,7,11,12 and 13) supporting the tape and wiping unit (item
no.5 ) filled with wad of cloth for wiping of tape
4. Motor for the movement of tape mechanism. (Item no. 1).
5. Power supply unit having electronic speed control for tape movement.
6. Valve assembly (item no. 10) to drain out the used mixture.
D. Machine Initialization:
1. Switch on main switch.
2. Switch on heater switch (control the heat as and when necessary by the
switch
3. Switch on A.C. motor switch to operate gear (Item No. 22) and rollers (Item
No 13).
4. Switch on D.C. motor to move the tape.
5. Select the direction of tape by reverse – forward switch.
6. Control the tape speed through regulator. (Speed approx. 75 to 80 cm /
min.)
7. Set speed control knob at 1.0(+/- 0.2)
E. Caveats & Environment Specification:
1. Tape cleaning operation should be carried out in a dust-controlled area. Dust
Particles in the wiping cloth rollers, tape etc. can damage the tape under
Cleaning.
2. Temperature 25-degree plus/minus 2 degree centigrade, relative humidity
55±10 %, and dust count of 5-micron particle size should be within 1 – 10 lacs
per square feet area.

1. Is used for cleaning of magneticTape.
2. Reduce wrinkling /damaging side edge of tape during cleaning.
3. Reduce time consumption to align tape during cleaning.
4. Tape Cleaning Machine Comprises of
I. Drive Unit to provide motion to Magnetic tape spool and it holds an empty spool for storage of cleaned magnetic tape.
II. Driven Unit to provide proper holding arrangement to the magnetic tape spool to be cleaned.
III. Cleaning Tub holds cleaning agent (Mixture of absolute alcohol and lead free petrol in the ration of 1:1) to clean magnetic tape.
IV. Wiping Unit is to remove alcohol and lead free petrol mixture from the wet magnetic tape.
V. Drying Unit is to completely dry the magnetic tape after wiping to reduce the chance of rusting.
VI. Roller Sub Assembly is to provide direction and proper routing to the magnetic tape through various sub system of the machine.
