Abstract: [Problem] Provided is a taphole mix capable of suppressing the occurrence of a blow-back phenomenon. [Solution] The taphole mix is prepared by adding a binder to a refractory material and kneading a resulting mixture, wherein the binder comprises at least tar, and the refractory material comprises carbon black. In the taphole mix, the content of the carbon black is 3 mass% to 10 mass% in terms of a percent to 100 mass% of the refractory material, and the additive amount of the binder is 10 mass% to 18 mass% with respect to and in addition to 100 mass% of the refractory material. Further, the tar has a viscosity at 60°C of 50 mPa · s to 150 mPa · s.
