Technical field of the present invention:
The present invention is related to a comb-teeth cutting machine and the method of
teeth cutting thereof, wherein said teeth cutting machine is provisioned for automatic
cutting of teeth pattern mechanically, particularly during the manufacturing of a comb.
Said method of teeth cutting on the proposed teeth cutting machine is specialized in
cutting teeth on multiple comb work pieces simultaneously, preferably on three to seven
comb work pieces.
Background and object of the present invention:
Combs are in use in all civilizations and the technology of making comb is well known to
the world. As the technology and its applications always get modified with time, the
comb making industry also modifies the method of manufacturing combs, mainly in
terms of better comb in aesthetics, strength of material, consumption of lesser
resources.
The present invention proposes such a teeth cutting machine which is very novel in its
construction and in functioning and wherein said machine is capable of performing
automatic teeth cutting operation in mechanical manner on more than one comb workpieces
simultaneously. The proposed teeth cutting machine and the method of teeth
cutting are mainly selected for making plastic/polymeric/wooden combs, wherein the
teeth pattern is preferably same and uniform throughout the teeth pattern of the said

comb. The proposed teeth cutting machine comprises of either a teeth cutting file or a
circular teeth cutter, and is capable of cutting teeth one by one on multiple comb workpieces,
mounted simultaneously on the comb work-piece mounting bracket of said
proposed machine.
The prime object of the present invention is to propose a teeth cutting machine for comb
making, wherein said machine is capable of cutting teeth mechanically on more than
one comb work-pieces simultaneously.
Another object of the present invention is to propose teeth cutting machine comprises of
either a teeth cutting file or a circular teeth cutter supported with an electric motor, and
thus said machine is capable of cutting teeth one by one on multiple comb work-pieces,
mounted simultaneously on the mounting bracket of said proposed machine.
Another object of the present invention is to propose a method of automatic teeth
cutting on multiple comb work-pieces simultaneously, wherein such method is mainly
selected for making plastic/polymeric/wooden combs.
Another object of the present invention is to propose a method of teeth cutting for comb
making, applying the teeth cutting machine proposed herein, wherein said method and
said teeth cutting machine are characterized by the uniform and preferably same teeth
pattern throughout the comb's teeth area.
Another object of the present invention is to propose teeth cutting machine for comb
making, which primarily comprises of pneumatic cylinder for operating swivel arm,
holding material to be cut; and a sliding mounting bracket supported with stepper motor.

Another object of the present invention is to propose teeth cutting machine for comb
making, wherein it comprises of control-drive and electrical panel for program selection
and setting, namely pitch, number of teeth to be cut, linear movement of the sliding
mounting bracket etc.
Another ebject of the present invention is to propose a teeth cutting machine for comb
making, wherein it comprises of coolant pump assembly for coolant oil supply during
teeth cutting operation for smooth teeth cutting, longer life of cutter and abrasion control
thereof.
Statement of the present invention:
The present invention is mainly intended to propose:
1. a teeth cutting machine for comb making, wherein said machine is capable of
cutting teeth mechanically on more than one comb work-pieces simultaneously;
2. a teeth cutting machine comprises of either a teeth cutting file or a circular teeth
cutter supported with an electric motor, and thus said machine is capable of
cutting teeth one by one on multiple comb work-pieces, mounted simultaneously
on the mounting bracket of said proposed machine;
3. a method of automatic teeth cutting on multiple comb work-pieces
simultaneously, wherein such method is mainly selected for making
plastic/polymeric/wooden combs;
4. a method of teeth cutting for comb making, applying the teeth cutting machine
proposed herein, wherein said method and said teeth cutting machine are

characterized by the uniform and preferably same teeth pattern throughout the
comb's teeth area;
5. a teeth cutting machine for comb making, which primarily comprises of
pneumatic cylinder for operating swivel arm, holding material to be cut; and a
sliding mounting bracket supported with stepper motor;
6. a teeth cutting machine for comb making, wherein it comprises of control-drive
and electrical panel for program selection and setting, namely pitch, number of
teeth to be cut, linear movement of the sliding mounting bracket etc.;
7. a teeth cutting machine for comb making, wherein it comprises of coolant pump
assembly for coolant oil supply during teeth cutting operation for smooth teeth
cutting, longer life of cutter and abrasion control thereof.
Description of the present invention:
The present description mainly discloses an invention pertaining to a teeth cutting
machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof; wherein said
machine cuts teeth automatically in mechanical manner on more than one comb workpieces
simultaneously, preferably on three to seven comb work-pieces simultaneously.
The comb work-pieces, after teeth cutting treatment on the said machine, are almost
final products with desired uniform teeth pattern having all strength and structural
features. Thus the proposed invention is of great importance as it effectively saves time
and resources by simplifying the manufacturing of combs. The proposed invention is
preferably applicable for teeth cutting on comb work-pieces of plastic/polymeric/wooden
material.

Main constructional features of the proposed teeth cutting machine for comb making are
as under:
(a) Teeth cutting file or a circular teeth cutter, supported with the Electric motor:
The teeth cutter selected for the machine is either as a linear file or as a circular
disk type cutter, mounted with an electric motor, wherein its frequency of motion
(forward & backward, mainly for linear file) or RPM is controlled by a
logic/software based controller. The assembly of the teeth cutter is so
customized that it cuts one tooth on each of the multiple comb work-pieces
mounted together simultaneously in an specified period by making a particular
number of movements/rotations and then mechanically repeat the similar
operation towards cutting same and uniform pattern of teeth on all the comb
work-pieces mounted together therein. The teeth cutting machine and the
method of cutting the teeth pattern, as cut on the proposed machine herein, are
so customized and controlled that equal gap or distance between two
consecutive teeth is maintained throughout the teeth pattern of the comb. Shifting
of the cutter from one teeth cutting position to the next one is mechanically
performed, in mutual coordination with the programmed movement of the sliding
comb work-pieces mounting bracket.
(b) Pneumatic cylinder: It is provisioned to operate the swivel arm, holding the
material to be cut, wherein it supports the movement of the sliding comb workpieces
mounting bracket during the teeth cutting operation.
(c) Sliding mounting bracket, supported with the stepper motor: The mounting
bracket is capable of holding a set of multiple comb work-pieces firmly during the

teeth cutting operations. For best results during teeth cutting and to avoid any
chance of teeth breakage or loss of comb material, number of comb work-pieces
to be mounted on the mounting bracket therein is preferably three to seven,
depending on the sum total of the thicknesses of the comb work-pieces. Said
bracket holds the comb work-pieces firmly to digest the friction and abrasion
generated during continuous teeth cutting. The stepper motor provides linear
motion to said sliding mounting bracket for movement by pitch amount by
program selection.
(d) Control drive and electrical panel: The complete functioning of the proposed
machine during teeth cutting operation mechanically in automation, mainly the
action of the teeth cutter towards continuous cutting of teeth pattern, the
movement of the sliding comb work-pieces mounting bracket, program selection
and setting such as pitch, number of teeth, linear movements etc. are controlled
and regulated with the help of a suitable state-of-the-art controller-drive and
electric panel.
(e) Coolant pump and coolant oil: For effective teeth cutting and to avoid any
operational error due to generation of heat due to great friction between the teeth
cutter and the set of multiple comb work-pieces, continuous supply of coolant oil
is maintained with suitable installation and operation of the coolant pump,
wherein the activation and stopping of said coolant pump is controlled through
the control-drive and electric panel.

The proposed teeth cutting machine also comprises of several parts and components,
which are necessary for safety of the operator and maintenance/protection of the said
machine.
Scope of the present invention:
Although the invention has been described with reference to specific embodiment, this
description is not meant to be construed in a limiting sense. Various modifications of the
disclosed embodiments, as well as alternate embodiments of the invention, will become
apparent to persons skilled in the art upon reference to the description of the invention.
It is therefore contemplated that such modifications can be made without departing from
the spirit or scope of the present invention as defined.

We claim:
1. A teeth cutting machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof,
wherein said teeth cutting machine mainly comprises of a teeth cutter, comb
work-pieces mounting bracket, a control-drive and electrical panel, and coolant
pump assembly; wherein the proposed method of teeth cutting for comb making
is characterized by cutting uniform pattern of teeth mechanically, in automation,
on more than one comb work-pieces simultaneously.
2. A teeth cutting machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof,
as claimed in claim 1, wherein said teeth cutting machine comprises of either a
teeth cutting file or a circular teeth cutter supported with an electric motor, and
thus said teeth cutting machine is characterized by its ability of cutting teeth one
by one on multiple comb work-pieces, mounted simultaneously on the mounting
bracket of said proposed machine.
3. A teeth cutting machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof,
as claimed in claim 1, wherein the present method of automatic teeth cutting on
multiple comb work-pieces simultaneously, is mainly applicable for making
plastic/polymeric/wooden combs.
4. A teeth cutting machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof,
as claimed in claim 1, wherein said method and said teeth cutting machine are
characterized by the uniform and preferably same teeth pattern throughout the
comb's teeth area, wherein equal gap or distance between two consecutive teeth
is maintained throughout the teeth pattern of the comb; and wherein shifting of
the cutter from one teeth cutting position to the next one is mechanically

performed, in mutual coordination with the programmed movement of the sliding
comb work-pieces mounting bracket.
5. A teeth cutting machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof,
as claimed in claim 1, wherein the teeth cutting machine for comb making
comprises a pneumatic cylinder for operating swivel arm, holding material to be
cut; and a sliding mounting bracket supported with stepper motor;
6. A teeth cutting machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof,
as claimed in claim 1, wherein the teeth cutting machine comprises of controldrive
and electrical panel for program selection towards teeth pattern cutting on
multiple comb work-pieces simultaneously and to achieve operational setting,
namely pitch, number of teeth to be cut, linear movement of the sliding mounting
bracket etc.
7. A teeth cutting machine for comb making and the method of teeth cutting thereof,
as claimed in claim 1, wherein said teeth cutting machine comprises of coolant
teeth cutting, longer life of cutter and abrasion control thereof.
