Abstract: ABSTRACT TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR BATTERY CELLS The present subject matter relates to a bidirectional coolant flow system 100 that includes a coolant chilling unit 102, a battery cooling unit 104 with an inlet manifold 106 and an outlet manifold 108, a coolant pump 110, and a valve assembly 112. The valve assembly 112 manages the transfer of coolant between the coolant chilling unit 102, the battery cooling unit 104, and the coolant pump 110. When a temperature difference between the outlet and inlet manifold exceeds a threshold, the valve assembly 112 changes the coolant flow direction to maintain uniform cell temperature across all battery cells. The valve assembly 112 includes a first and second sub-valve 122, 124, each with three channels, and an actuator 144 to control the positions of these channels to change the coolant flow direction.
