Tesla Turbine With Insulated Discs

Abstract: In the present invention the tesia turbine is made with the material which is poor heat conductor. Due to poor heat conductivity the eddy currents does not formed which was responsible for poor torque and efficiency. In the present invention these drawbacks is abolished.

Specification

Field of Invention- This invention relates to the Tesla Turbine. Background of invention with regards to the drawback associated with the known arts: Nikola Tesla was a great scientist born on 10th July 1856 in Croatia. He invented the Tesla Turbine in 1913. He claimed 100% efficiency of the Tesla Turbine If we see the path of the working fluid then we find that the assumption of Tesla was not baseless. But since 1913 it has not been commercialised. In the Tesla turbine, the working fluid enters from the outer periphery of the discs and goes out from the centre of discs. It has been proved in various researches that speed of the working fluid is increased when it goes towards the centre of the discs. Due to different speed, the drag force work against the torque. Resulting weak torque and low efficiency. The discs damaged during operation due to high temperature and vibrations. It is due to the heat energy which travels through the metal discs. When the heat travels from the outer circle of the disc towards inner circle, the density of heat energy is increased. This energy transfers from metal discs to the boundary layers and boundary layer to metal disc to metal discs which is a vice versa and a continuous process. Due to energy transfer the speed of working fluid is increased continuously. . In the present models based on the known arts, no gap given between housing and rotor discs. The working fluid enters between the discs directly and disturbs the laminar flow between the discs and badly effects the efficiency of turbine.
Object of the Invention: The principle object of this invention is to improve the torque and efficiency of Tesla Turbine.
The summary of Invention: The present invention is a modified tesla turbine in which the discs are made with suitable thermal insulating material like asbestos, porcelain glass or other suitable material so that heat energy could not travel through the discs. The discs will be separated 1 millimetre or suitably designed gap as taken in conventional Tesla Turbine.

Detailed description of the invention- Present invention
In the present invention there is no difference with the prior arts excepts the discs made with the material which is a heat resistance like asbestos sheet porcelain and other like materials. Our main object to use the heat insulating material is to stop the heat transfer through the disc. In the past many inventors used the metal discs and hard materials because at a higher speed like 99000 Round Per Minute, as claimed by many designers, the discs damages due to the heat and vibrations. If we imagine the steam entering from the inlet, the speed of steam and pressure is going to increase towards the outlet because the boundary layer and heat energy travels towards the outlet at the same time. The energy of boundary layer is increased after every revolution. We can divide the energy level of discs in three parts. In the first part which is the outermost part of discs is the lower level. Middle part of the.discs is having the medium energy level. Inner most part of the disc is the highest energy level. These three different levels of energy is the main drawback of tes'la turbine. Lower level and highest level works against each other. To overcome, the heat travels through discs, we use the heat resistance material for discs. In the present invention the energy level of boundary layer is decreased after each revolution. Angular velocity remains same of each boundary layers because boundary layer could not get back the energy through the discs.
A brief description of accompanying drawings-Fig 1 of 2 - It shows a plan of Tesla turbine with disc.

Detailed description of the invention with reference to the drawing-According to figure 1, the working fluid enters from the inlet (I) and run between the gap (VI) and rotate the discs (III). After transfer of energy to the discs, the fluid get out from the exhaust port (II). The Fluid rotate with discs and form the boundary layers (IV) and (V). The boundary layer shown in figure (I) by roman number (IV) and (V). Boundary layer starts from (IV) and run between the gap of discs and transfer the energy to the discs up to point (V). At the same time, the energy run from point (IV) to point (V) by conduction and energised the next boundary layer., but due to poor heat conductivity of discs its effect is neglected on the next boundary layer. Therefore the energy of boundary layers is reduced from inlet to outlet. Therefore due to the poor heat conductivity of discs, this turbine is more efficient and useful.

Claim,
1. A tesia turbine in which the discs are made with poor heat conductive material.
2. A tesia turbine in which the discs made with compound material in such a manner that heat energy could not flow from periphery to centre of discs.
