Tetra Substituted Imidazole Bearing Substituted Trigonelline Units And Method Of Synthesis Thereof
Abstract: The invention discloses a series of compounds that are based on imidazole scaffold bearing trigonelline unit. The compound may include one or more substituents on the imidazole ring. The compound is a hybrid molecule. Further, a one-pot synthesis method of preparing the hybrid molecule is disclosed. The reaction is conducted in primary alcohol medium with benzil or a substituted benzil, nicotinaldehyde, ammonium acetate, and a primary amine as reactants. The reaction uses iodine, zirconyl chloride or ferric chloride as catalyst at a temperature of 40 – 80 °C. The reactants may also include one or more substituents. When 2-aminoheptane was used as a substituent it was observed to have high anticancer activity in the chosen three liver cancer cell lines with the maximum potent cytotoxic effect. (FIG. 1A)
