The 360 Degree Flexible Hinge

Abstract: The "360° degree flexible hinge" has the back angle of 360°. It is not dependent on the thickness of the panels as it uses the process of webbing to hold the panels together. The hinge is not material specific in terms of material used for either the panels or for the webbing material, thus giving lot of material flexibility in the design of various structures. The material of panels can range from wood plastics, glass, sheet metals and that of material used the webbing can vary from fabric, plastics or metal.

INTRODUCTION:
A hinge is a joint that holds two parts together so that one can swing, turns or
pivots relative to the other.
In available hinges the back angle is equal to or less than 270°. They can be only
used on panels of minimum specified thickness to be fitted onto the surfaces of
the panels.

The "360° degree flexible hinge" has the back angle of 360°.
The hinge is not dependent on the thickness of the panels as it uses the process
of webbing to hold the panels together.
Also, the hinge is not material specific in terms of material used for either the
panels or for the webbing material, thus giving lot of material flexibility in the
design of various structures.
The material of panels can range from wood plastics, glass, sheet metals and
that of material used the webbing can vary from fabric, plastics or metal.
FUNCTION:
The "360° degree flexible hinge" performs functions of the available hinges but with more design flexibility.
PRINCIPLE:
The hinging is done by the process of webbing of the desired material of tape to the panels.

I claim that:
The hinge does not govern the thickness of the panels as the hinge thickness is
negligible.
The materials of panel and hinge are governed solely on the structure and design
requirements.
The back angle of the hinge is 360°.
