Abstract: The invention described herein pertains to a device like a wristwatch that works on the principle of "FULLY INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY". The device consists of a Digital LCD display that shows MODES like "SECONDS", DAY / DATE in normal running mode and aligned with Analog portion. The device does not need frequent DATE / DAY setting since the FULLY INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY system is being built-in/provided and a typical conventional type of Hand setting mechanism which consists of "CROWN" and "SETTING STEM " are not required. A 4 bit Microcontroller integrated circuit consists of special and newly developed software that controls normal timekeeping function through Analog and calendar through Digital. Apart from this, the Microcontroller also consists of QUICK TIME, CALENDAR SETTING and SELF SCYCHRONIZATION facilities. And also commands step motor to drive hour & Minute hands to rotate CLOCK WISE" and "ANTI-CLOCK WISE" direction for quick Time setting.
BACKGROUND OF MENTION
The invention described herein relates to significant improvement made to a quartz Analog time device a wristwatch that works on the principle of "FULLY DIGITAL INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY". A device like a wristwatch described in this invention has DIGITAL DISPLAY and ANALOG DISPLAY to display Perpetual Calendar and Local time respectively. With this "FULLY DIGITAL INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY" Analog hands, example, Hour & Minute hands is positioned to a desired time automatically by bi¬directional movement of hands, thus allows to eliminate entire and setting mechanism from the system similar to that of FLY BY WIRE technology used in Aircrafts. All these features have been built within the thickness of 1.60mm ~ 1.85mm.Presently, movement of an Ana-Digi watch having two or three hands which are commonly available in the market are of 2.83mm thickness minimum.
An Electronic LCD display is integrated in place of Conventional type Calendar type window to provide very useful features and also to showcase "MODERNITY", which will be addressed to all consumers / Customers.
The time device consists of a MICRO CONTROLLER unit which has been specially programmed to execute unique features.
The Ana-Digi wrist watch movement described in this invention has the advantage of being "THE THINNEST MOVEMENT "ever made with "FULLY INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY".
FULL PRIOR ART DETAILS
An Ana-Digital quartz time measuring device consists of Digital display near 12H position to display Perpetual calendar for 99 years and also used for TIME SETTING for an Analog i.e. Hour hand & Minute Hand will take desired time position based on the time set in the Digital setting mode. The Digital has the capability to move the Hour & Minute hands in CLOCK WISE and ANTI-CLOCK WISE direction in quick secession to set the desire time.
A MICRO-CONTROLLER (MCU) is charged with special program and has algorithm characteristics to drive Digital and Analog functions simultaneously.
The "DIGITAL" and "ANALOG" devices are fully integrated thus eliminates many conventional type mechanical components such as
1. Setting stem
2. Crown
3. Setting Lever
4. Yoke
5. Yoke Spring
6. Sliding pinion
7. Setting Lever Spring
8. Setting Lever Screw
9. Setting wheel
10. Date Jumper
11. Date Jumper spring
12. Day Jumper
13. Day Jumper spring
14. Date Disc
15. Day Disc
16. Day Star wheel
17. Day Clip
18. Special Hour wheel (high height).
And significant savings will be made in terms of man power & machines.
LCD panel has been positioned at 12 hr. and used to display seconds, Day, Date, and Month, and also used to set the Time & Calendar. This LCD is designed to display two (2) characteristics, one numerical and one Alphabet in Digital form to display functions such as Date, Day and seconds.
LCD WINDOW
LCD is capable of displaying Seconds, Date, Day, Month and Year in comparatively big size for better visibility. Currently most of the watches have been provided with smaller Day / Date window hence visibility is poor. Most importantly, invention also embedded with fully integrated Perpetual calendar up to 99 year or minimum period of 36 months where as in other watches Ana-Digi movements Hour hand, Minute hand and second hand are not synchronized with Digital part, they are independent and in some cases, they are partially integrated.
A special 4 bit Micro controller having low current consumption is identified and special software is being developed to display digital portion and as well as an Analog portion.
OBJECTIVE OF INVENTION
The main objective of the invention is to provide a thinnest time device like a wristwatch which has an integrated circuit Micro-controller and controls synchronized Digital display with Analog stepper motor. This combination is able to give very instant viewing of perpetual calendar.
Another objective of the invention is to provide a time measuring device like a wrist watch which has a Digital display with Digital fonts in comparatively big in size for better visibility / readability.
STATEMENT OF THE INVENTION
In this invention, a timekeeping device likes the wristwatch that works on the principle of "FULLY INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY" which has a Micro controlled program with special algorithm, and capable of driving Analog stepper motor as per data input and display time as per digital real time clock. This Digital calendar is well aligned with the Analog Display, particularly at the time of Day / Date changing at 12pm and last day of the month.
Digital calendar has been provided to display big & bold fonts for better readability and also have perpetual calendar to avoid frequent calendar adjustment.
The Ana-Digi wrist watch movement described in this invention has the advantage of being "THE THINNEST MOVEMENT "ever made and complete watch will be the thinnest in this category.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig.l shows a view of the front face indicating Digital and Analog devices are integrated and also show casing Big and Bold fonts for better readability.
Fig.2 shows a cross sectional view of an Ana-Digi Movement for the thickness.
> Movement thickness w/o Battery - 1.60mm
> Movement thickness with Battery - 1.85mm
Fig.3 LCD and Analog stepper motor embedded on one platform (not adapted type)
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
A thin LCD Digital display described herein works in line with Analog stepper motor with the help of a Microcontroller devise. The digital display is positioned near 12 O'clock and Gears and an Analog Stepper Motor have been moved just below the Centre of the watch to accommodate Battery (Fig.l). Thus, makes movement more compact and thin.
The Digital font height is about 3mm makes Big & Bold and readability is better across all age groups (Fig.l). The Digital display comes in various colours; therefore we have flexibility of changing the colour of the dial for better appealing.
(Fig.2) illustrate the complete movement thicknesses after complete assembly of all components on the base plate and also design which qualify all reliability aspects including wearer's simulation, incidental dropping, Climatic conditions.
The main plate of the movement is having provisions to accommodate LCD panel along with Zebra Connectors (2 no's), Stepper Motor coil and series of Gears to drive Analog display mechanism (Fig.3). These components have been accommodated across the area which is well within the limit of watch standards. The LCD panel and Analog stepper Motor are integrated through an Electronic Circuit Board that has a smart programmed MICROCONTROLLER.
