Theft I No

Abstract: The THEFT-i-NO is a security device that protects the owner"s vehicle from unauthorized handling. This device basically works on an ARDUINO platform and uses the GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) protocol to interact with the owner"s mobile. The device is placed in the owner"s vehicle such that it is well protected from the intruders. As soon as the device is powered, it sends a message to the owner"s mobile stating that it is ready. The stand removal in two wheelers is the first trigger and the module sends an alert message to the owner. On ignition it again sends a message as well as calls the owner"s mobile. The controller cuts of the supply to the spark plug after 20seconds of unauthorized ignition so that the engine stops abruptly. This system is highly useful and economical as it uses only basic electronic components. It also suits well with any vehicle model and does not necessarily require a smart phone.

Specification

THEFT-i-NO DESCRIPTION
This system basically uses the following components:
• ARDUINO micro controller.
• GSM shield with a registered SIM card
• Contact Sensor.
• Ignition sensing element.
• Slider switch.
• Relay.
• Mobile Phone of any model (with the owner).
FUNCTIONALITY
This tool powers itself from the vehicle's battery (12V, 1.5A). The tool is fixed in the vehicle and required to be switched on when the vehicle is parked. Further functionality descriptions are as follows:
• The moment it is switched on, it sends a message to the owner's mobile confirming that the vehicle is under protection.
• In case of a two wheeler, when the stand is removed, it sends a message to the owner's mobile stating "STAND REMOVAL DETECTED".
• In case of 2-wheeler/4-wheeler when the ignition is turned ON an SMS is triggered with a message "IGNITION DETECTED" and also calls the owner's mobile.
• In spite of the above alerts, if the owner is unable to reach his vehicle and it is taken away by an unauthorized person, the engine seizes 20 seconds later and the vehicle stops abruptly. The engine cannot be restarted unless the owner arrives at the spot and disable the tool. Thus this tool serves as an effective vehicle theft control device.
EXISTING PRODUCT
There is an existing product in the market that enables the owner to switch off the engine during unauthorized vehicle usage, using his mobile. This feature fails, if the mobile alert go unnoticed allowing the thief to drive the vehicle without interruption. Usage of ANDROID and IOS applications, further complicates the situation as it requires high speed internet connectivity which is unavailable at various places.

MY INNOVATION
In "THEFT-I-NO" this problem is solved as the engine switches off automatically in 20 seconds after unauthorized ignition without owner's intervention. Further the module uses only GSM protocol and hence there is no requirement of internet connections. Even when the owner is in out of coverage area and all the alerts fail to reach the owner's mobile the engine switches off automatically independent of GSM network. The controller directly cuts off the power supply to the spark plug using a control relay so that it switches off the engine. THEFT-i-NO also gives freedom to the user to use any mobile model since alerts are made by just calls and SMS.
FUTURE SCOPE
This can be aligned with a camera and the image of the unauthorized person using the vehicle can be flashed in the owner's mobile, so that, it could be used for the police records.
Gyroscopic sensors can be added, so that, it enables accident detection and this can be used to alert ambulance and other life saving services about the accident.
GPS systems can also be added so that the owner knows about the location of the vehicle.

PREAMBLE
I claim to have invented THEFT-i-NO', a device that contains the following parts.
1. ARDUINO micro controller.
2. GSM shield with a registered SIM card.
3. Contact Sensor.
4. Ignition sensing element.
5. Slider switch.
6. Relay.
7. Mobile Phone of any model (with the
