Thin Shell Direct Boss Structures For Trim Mounting
Abstract: A thin shell direct boss structure for trim mounting comprising multiple outer ribs (3) configured on outer periphery of said boss structure for providing support to said boss stucture; multiple inner ribs(2) configured on an inner periphery of said boss structure; a brass insert nut connected to said plurality of inner ribs(1) for generating strong bond. Said direct boss structures provide positive mounting in critical package space areas. Said inner ribs (1) are sacrificial ribs. Said multiple outer ribs (3) provides stifness to the boss structure. Said multiple inner ribs (2) provides stifness to the boss structure. Said aligned outer ribs (3) support the outward force. Said outward force is generated during the process of hot insertion of the brass nut. Said Inner ribs (1) act as holding structure. Said gap is provided between two ribs on the inner surface. Said gap between two ribs on the inner surface is provided for hot insertion process. Fig. 7
