Abstract: A tire handling device includes an arm (2) connected to a stanchion (4) at a proximal end thereof. The stanchion includes a profiled motion guide system (4a) for vertical height adjustment of the tire handling device. A tire basket (3) is connected to the arm (2) at a distal end of the arm (2). The tire basket (3) includes a fixed ring (3i) and a rotating ring (3c) capable of being actuated by a rotating ring drive system (3f). A plurality of shoe arm assemblies (S) is mounted on the fixed ring (3i) of the tire basket (3) and arranged concentrically with a center axis of the tire basket (3). Each shoe arm assembly (S) is connected to a shoe (3a) for engaging and gripping a tire in the tire basket (3). Each shoe (3a) is capable of moving radially inwardly and outwardly with respect to the tire basket (3). An actuator (6) for providing rotary swinging motion to the arm (2) around a horizontal axis is integrally connected with the arm (2). The tire handling device includes a single stopper mechanism (5) to damp the movement of the tire handling device during both swing IN and swing OUT positions of the tire handling device. FIGURE 7
