Abstract: The present invention relates to a tooth brush that consists of a provision to load in tooth paste with replaceable cartridges. The habit of brushing differs from person to person based on their practices. Some people brush once a day and some do twice and some do brush after each and every meal. Whenever a user prepares for brushing there is a need to handle our tooth brush and tooth paste separately so that at times when the user is too sleepy in the morning, he slips the paste from the bristles and also accidentally and during travel to other places there comes a need to pick both the items together. During travel sometimes it happens that we forget the paste tube in the place where we brush and get along with only the brush. This invention will be a milestone in solving these issues in brushing. This brush can also be used with the traditional method of applying paste on the bristles and the vice versa.

, Description:Field of Invention:
Present invention relates to a toothpaste dispensing toothbrush capable of dispensing a desired amount of toothpaste onto the bristles. The toothbrush comprises of a sliding arrangement for dispensing a desired amount of toothpaste.
Background of Invention:
US 5908257 discloses a toothbrush which has a hollow handle comprising toothpaste therein and to dispense the toothpaste onto the toothbrush bristles. The toothbrush generally comprises a hollow handle disposed wherein isdisposable toothpaste containing cartridge supported within its interior.A piston mechanism isthreadably attached to its bottom end of the handle, which forces the toothpaste out of the handle into a conduit formed through the brush head. Valves allow toothpaste to flow from the conduit onto the bristles of the toothpaste while preventing water or other fluids from flowing into the conduit to contaminate the toothpaste supply.
US 20070183838 discloses a toothbrush with a toothpaste dispenser. The handle has a toothpaste chamber defined in the handle. The distal opening is adapted for loading toothpaste into the toothpaste chamber and accommodating a plunger. A resilient flapper valve is disposed in the brush head conduit, and is normally open so that the plunger may be used to force toothpaste through the handle onto the bristles. The toothbrush is provided with a removable cap having a stopper that slides into an axial bore in the brush head to force the flapper valve into a closed position. There are various disadvantages associated with the prior art. Each time the toothpaste has to be emptied from another package into the compartment which is a time consuming and tedious process.Plunger seems to be a separate element which requires a good force to squeeze the paste to the head.Over forcing of the plunger will lead to large amount of paste dispensed to the bristles since no predefined stops are provided to the plunger to operate. If the user has to replace the toothpaste with a different flavor he has to essentially clean the loading chamber which is a tedious process. Furthermore, because of the flat edge in the plunger user would have to use large force to move the plunger and the plunger has to be efficiently designed so that the toothpaste does not make reverse action leaking it backward.
The toothbrush of present invention iseconomic, because of low cost manufacturing. Also, the user can just buy cartridges available in different flavors that can be easily loaded and unloaded without much time consumption. The slider knob with defined stopping will limit the toothpaste disposal on each stroke so that even children do not need the adult supervision towards usage of the device. The uniform and single body design will ensure good strength the brush which even during strong pressured strokes. There is no requirement for the user to clean the device anytime before loading a new cartridge since each cartridge is unique and constructed. The toothbrush of present invention is designed in a manner such for avoiding the leakage of toothpaste.

In the following description, for the purpose of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the arrangement of the system according to an embodiment herein. It will be apparent, however, to one skilled in the art, that the present embodiment can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, structures are shown in block diagram form only in order to avoid obscuring the present invention.
Figure 1 discloses a toothpaste dispensing toothbrush 100. The toothbrush comprises of a hollow handle 101; a bristle head 102 having a front surface 102f with bristles103, a rear surface102r, a top end 102t and a bottom end 102b. The bottom end 102b of the toothbrush 100 connects to a conduit 104 of the handle101. The bristle head 102 has a slit 105 for dispensing toothpaste. The handle 101 has a top surface 101t and a bottom surface 101b. The top surface 101t is temporarily removable for placing a toothpaste cartridge 107 within the handle 101. The slit 105 may be a vertical slit extending between the top end 102t and the bottom end 102b or a horizontal slit, running perpendicular to line between bottom end 102b and top end102t.
A slider mechanism is provided in the handle101 comprising a slider knob 106 for exerting pressure on the toothpaste for dispensing. The slider mechanism comprises of a vertical gap 110on the top surface 101t of the handle, said gap 110has extensions 108 (shown in Figure 4)across for positioning of slider knob106. The extensions 108 may be in form of small projections or zigzag shape. The slider knob 106 is formed as a protrusion on a slider 109 which length runs through the length of the vertical gap110. The distance at which slider knob 106 rests, between the slider knob positioners 108 allows to apply pressure on toothpaste cartridge 107, so as to only dispense a fixed desired quantity of toothpaste.
The toothpaste cartridge 107 (shown in Figure 5)can be placed inside the toothbrush handle 101 such that on moving the slider knob 106 upwards, an end portion of the slider 109 exert pressure onto the cartridge107, thereby dispensing the toothpaste from the cartridge107 through the conduit104 to the slit 105 on bristle head102.
The hollow handle 101 has a hollow space 111 for housing 112 within which the toothpaste cartridge 107 can be placed into, as shown in Figure 3. The cartridge housing 112 has extended knob like portions 113 for keeping the cartridge107 in place.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the vertical gap may not have a slider, and the slider knob may not be a protrusion kind on a slider, but may be an independent unit as shown in Figure 2. The slider knob200 has three projections, placed on a curved hemispherical body 201. The central projection 202 striped, so as to form an easy grip of the thumb, while moving the slider knob200.The side projections 204 oneon either side of the central projection 202. The side projections 204 are adjusted within two side gaps 205 on each side adjacent to vertical gap110.
When the user makes a single stroke tooth paste proceeds forward through the hollow handle and gets applied to the bristles through the slit.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the slit is closed with a spring action mechanism that opens only when the paste pressurizes it from the bottom and automatically closes with the spring force after ejection of paste to the bristles, this mechanism ensures that no water or saliva enters inside the hollow provision of the handle making it hygienic for each use.
Furthermore, the user is also aware of the number of times the user has brushed with the available paste in the cartridge through the remaining number of limited progressions left in the knob for pressing and ejecting the paste and can easily replace the cartridge for the next need or after a month’s time the brush itself can be replaced with a new one and a new cartridge as per the doctors’ advice to change tooth brushes every month.
Thus the user saves a lot of time in applying toothpaste every time and also unwanted wastage of paste due to over pressure is avoided at the same time exact quantity of toothpaste as good to a human for brushing each time will be applied that will last the teeth life for longer.
