Abstract: This invention relates to a turning fixture for holding a special shape component for turning operation in lathe machine and thereby performs turning operation on the component. Object of the present invention is to provide a fixture for holding a special shape component and supporting the job thereof to maintain the precise dimensional and positional accuracy. A more specific object of this invention is the improvement in productivity by designing only one fixture for all the diameters and making provision of turning for different diameters in a component.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a turning fixture for holding a special shape
component for turning operation in lathe machine and thereby performs turning
operation on the component.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention pertains to turning fixture for holding the component for
turning operation, and more particularly to the job in way that support to do
turning or the turning tool in predefined diameters through which turning
operation can be performed in turning machine by less skilled operator also. An
object of this invention is the provision of turning fixture for holding the special
shape component on which turning can be done in the component with high
degree of accuracy or concentricity of the different diameters as well as
perpendicularity of the face w.r.t. diameters. This fixture helps to minimize the
setup time and maximize the productivity as well as it saves the component from
any distortion.

SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
In accordance with one aspect of present invention is to provide a fixture
that facilitates holding of a component for turning operation in a lathe and
supporting component for performing the turning operation with dimensional
accuracy.

In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide a
fixture for holding such a special shape component for accurate locating of
component on fixture with respect to desired diameters.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is provided a
fixture for rigid and proper holding of component.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
fixture for holding a component and tightened the component with the face plate
of the fixture.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
more rigid and proper place to clamp the component.
. In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
fixture for holding component for multiple turning operations in the single setup.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide a
lighter but robust fixture to hold the component.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
fixture that can be properly and effectively utilized to hold and firmly fixed the
component by lesser skilled individuals.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
fixture for holding component rigidly (because component is of special shape) but
it should not create any deformation in the component.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring Fig 1, the present invention is designed and manufactured here
for the turning in the component (Refer Fig 2) to get the specified tolerance and
positional accuracy with respect to its center axis in less time
Turning fixture of Fig1 comprises one face plate, one holding mandrel,
four clamps to fix the component on the fixture, one locating pin to locate the
component and one position pin to maintain the concentricity of the component.
All the faces are grind in surface and cylindrical grind m/c to get the
specified tolerance and positional accuracy with respect to its center axis. Face
plate has a surface ‘G’ on which component rest. Perpendicularity of the
component butting surface is maintained in 0.015 mm w.r.t. the diameter of the
mandrel. Face plate also hold the locating pin 4 & position pin 5.
Turning fixture comprises clamps 3 which clamped the component on the
butting surface of face plate 1 through the Allen screw 8 with washer 9. Face
plate have a grinding surface which support the component while ensuring
perpendicularity of its face.
Turning fixture comprises a position pin 5 which locate & positioned the
component.
Turning fixture comprises a locating pin 4 which ensure the positional
accuracy of diameter while turning. Turning fixture comprises a position Pin 5 & 7
Std. Dowel pin which are fixed with Jig plate 1. They guide the holding mandrel2
through the two holes made in face plate1 to provide the proper positioning
of the component when clamped on the face plate. Turning fixture comprise a
Allen screw 8 & washer 9 to hold the clamps 3 with faceplate1to clamped the
component on surface ‘G’ of the face plate 1

1. A Turning fixture for holding a special shape component for turning operation and provide holding mechanism to accurate positioning of turning tool and supporting the component to be positioned in the fixture. The fixture comprising:
- Face Plate adapted to be coupled to the Lathe machine and provides support to the component and other sub component of fixture.
- Location Pin that guides the component to remain in pre -determined position with respect to fixture and combination with position pin provided to prevent the X, Y direction movement and accurate alignment with respect to the reference surface.
- Clamps to mount component on the face plate of fixture and hold it rigidly in proper position.
- Allen screw couple the clamps with the face plate for holding the component in between to avoid any deflection of the component during turning operations and maintain dimensional accuracy.
2. The Turning fixture for holding the component of claim 1 wherein, top and bottom surfaces of the Jig plate are proper grinded surfaces and substantially parallel.
3. The Turning fixture for holding component of claim 1 wherein, the face plate is provide with position pin and location pin for accurate positioning of the metal plate during the turning operation.
4. The Turning fixture comprises of clamps fitted with four Allen screw for coupling with the face plate, holding the component. ,TagSPECI:As per Annexure-II
