Twin Clutch Automated Manual Transmission System And Operating Method Thereof

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to twin-clutch automatic manual transmission (AMT) system for a vehicle and operating method thereof. The twin-clutch vehicle AMT system being configured to facilitate synchronization of speed across synchronizer with lower reflected inertia at synchronizer. With the compact packaging of the smaller size synchronizer unit on the shaft assembly, and thus eliminating the need to package a larger synchronizer unit and AMT kit actuators to reduce the higher synchronization impulse at synchronizer or gearshift time.

Specification

DESC:SOFT COPY ATTACHED ,CLAIMS:WE CLAIM:

1. A twin-clutch automated manual transmission (AMT) system (100) for a vehicle comprising:
a primary clutch (103);
a secondary clutch (104);
a gear box (102) that includes at least one synchronizer unit (202), wherein the synchronizer unit (202) is configured for selectively engaging and disengaging gears for establishing a drive connection between an input shaft (106) and an output shaft (107) for driving the vehicle; and
a gear-shift control module (108) that is configured to
disengage the primary clutch (103) to a first predetermined level;
disengage the secondary clutch (104) and the primary clutch (103) to a first predefined value upon disengagement of the primary clutch (103);
perform the gear-shifting of the gear box upon the primary and secondary clutches (103, 104) are disengaged; and
engage the secondary clutch (104) to the first predefined value and the primary clutch to a second predetermined level.

2. The twin-clutch automated manual transmission (AMT) system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first predetermined level corresponds to a first predetermined percentage value of an extent of the disengagement of the primary clutch (103), such as an extent to about 80 percentage.

3. The twin-clutch automated manual transmission (AMT) system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first predefined level corresponds to a first predefined percentage value of an extent of the disengagement of the secondary and primary clutches (103, 104), such as to an extent of 100 percentage.

4. The twin-clutch automated manual transmission (AMT) system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second predetermined percentage level of corresponds to a second predetermined percentage value of an extent of the engagement of the primary clutch (103), such as to an extent of about 20 percentage.

5. The twin-clutch automated manual transmission (AMT) system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the output of the gear-box (102) is synchronized with the input of the gear-box (102) at a substantial lower reflected inertia on the synchronizer unit so as to reduce the synchronization impulse to a predetermined percentage value of approximately 60 percentage.

6. A method for operating a twin-clutch automated manual transmission (AMT) system (100) comprising the steps of:
determining, by a gear-shift control module (108), changing of gears based on a predetermined input from a vehicle driver’s input;
disengaging, by the gear-shift control module (108), a primary clutch (103) to a first predetermined level;
disengaging, by the gear-shift control module (108), a secondary clutch (104) and the primary clutch (103) to a first predefined value upon disengagement of the primary clutch (103);
performing, by an actuator (101), shifting of the predetermined gear of the gear-box (102) once the primary and secondary clutches (103), (104) are completely disengaged; and
engaging, by the gear-shift control module (108), (i) the secondary clutch (104) to the first predefined value and (ii) the primary clutch (103) to a second predetermined level.
