Abstract: The present invention is a two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout comprising, a frame (9) including a pair of rear frames (9R), said pair of rear frames (9R) disposed substantially in a rear portion of said vehicle (1), a seat (10) supported by said pair of rear frames (9R), and an electric motor (4) functionally connected to at least one wheel (4) of said vehicle (1). A fuel cell power box (8) is mounted under the seat (10) of the vehicle (1). The fuel cell power box (8) houses at least one metal hydride canister (5R and 5L) in a first layer, and a fuel cell stack (3) in a second layer. The fuel cell power box (8) is at least partially disposed between the pair of frames (9R). Low-pressure metal hydride canisters are used for safe delivery of hydrogen at constant pressure instead of high pressure hydrogen cylinders. Figure 2
WE CLAIM
1. A two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout comprising:
a frame (9) including a pair of rear frames (9R), said pair of rear frames (9R) disposed substantially in a rear portion of said vehicle (1);
5 a seat (10) supported by said pair of rear frames (9R); and
an electric motor (4) functionally connected to at least one wheel (4) of
said vehicle (1), wherein
a fuel cell power box (8) is mounted under said seat (10) of the vehicle (1),
10 and said fuel cell power box (8) houses at least one metal hydride
canister (5R and 5L) in a first layer, and a fuel cell stack (3) in a second layer, and
wherein
said fuel cell power box (8) is at least partially disposed between the pair
15 of rear frames (9R).
2. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1,
wherein said fuel cell stack (3) is mounted below the metal hydride canisters
(5R and 5L) in the fuel cell power box (8), and said fuel cell stack (3) is
functionally connected to said metal hydride canisters (5R and 5L).
20 3. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1, wherein said fuel cell stack (3) is equipped with a pressure regulator, a blower, a solenoid valve, heater assembly, and a proportional valve, said solenoid valve and the proportional valve are controlled electronically by a fuel cell controller.
25 4. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1, wherein said vehicle (1) includes a motor controller (7) in one partition rearward of the fuel cell stack (3) in the fuel cell power box (8) and is electrically connected to the electric motor (4).
7
5. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1,
wherein the fuel cell power box (8) is capable of accommodating a fuel cell
controller and a fuel cell buck/boost converter (6).
6. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1,
5 wherein said vehicle (1) includes a lithium ion battery pack (2) which is
electrically connected to the electric motor (4).
7. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1
or 5, wherein said fuel cell controller, said buck/boost converter (6) and a
motor controller (7) are electrically connected to a lithium ion battery pack
10 (2).
8. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1,
wherein said fuel cell stack (3) produces a by-product during processing of
hydrogen is expelled through an exhaust manifold, and a fuel exhaust pipe
from the fuel cell stack (3) is controlled by the proportional valve to avoid
15 fuel starvation.
9. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1,
wherein said metal hydride canister (5R and 5L) in the first layer, and said
fuel cell stack (3) in the second layer are forwardly inclined.
10. The two-wheeled fuel cell vehicle (1) assembly layout as claimed in claim 1,
20 wherein said metal hydride canisters (5R and 5L) are of low pressure
hydrogen cylinders to ensure safe delivery of hydrogen at a constant pressure.
