Abstract: In the proposed invention photo setting polymers are mixed with metal powders. This mixture will be exposed 3D laser image of the object to be printed. When laser illuminated 3D images are focused on to the above mixture of materials, according to the image projected setting of polymers happens in fraction of seconds. The uniqueness of the technology is superimposing of 3Dj images with femto second laser sources. Different type of photo setting polymers are used to mix with required composition of metals or alloys.
1. Title of Invention
Ultra high speed metal 3D printers with photo setting polymers.
3. Preamble to the description:
Complete Specification:
Summary:
In the summary of invention, each important salient feature is explained as follows:
1. in this method of invention powder metallurgy 3D printing procedure is completely changed to screen printing kind of photosetting concept. The required composition of metal object powders will be taken into an enclosed vessel.
2. The powder mixture decides the strength characteristics 6f the metal object printed. Hence selectively suiatble metal powder combinations or alloy powder combinations of micro particle sizes will be taken as raw material.
3. The powder will be mixed with photo setting polymers of various types available in chemistry and their selectivity depends on the kind of laser source chosen for focus of 3D image.
4. 3D image as per the software designed parameters or dimensions will be focused using their laser projections on to the above mixture.
5. When laser image is continuously beamed on to the photo setting polymer blended with metal powders, photo coagulation or setting of that j material occurs as per the laser 3D image imposed.
6. When photo setting is completed as per the stipulated time intervals, the unsettled powder dispered of to get 3D shape the selected or desiredjprinted object.
7. The above object undergo subjective sintering depending on the desired properties of the metal object in sputtering or sintering chamber parameters.
4. Description
The proposed invention is to produce metal 3D printers which can translate any design to final product in few seconds. The uniqueness of the technology is superimposing of 3D images with femto second laser sources. This invention enables manufacturing industry to adapt 3D printing as production method even for multiplication.
Background of invention
3D printers gaining popularity in various industrial operations since a decade. There are several types of plastic 3D printers and powder metallurgy based metal printers. But due to the limitations like higher setting times and other risks involved, the technology is constrained to limit to rapid prototyping only. The proposed invention is to produce metal 3D printers which can translate any design to final product in few seconds. This invention enables manufacturing industry to adapt 3D printing as production method even for multiplication.
6. Brief description of drawing:
• In this 3d printer there are 2 laser sources, 2 laser calibrators
• Namely xz axis, yz axis
• When a 3d model is feeded into the computer, it converts the model into matrix of points forming a model with 0.1 micron accuracy
• Laser sources emmit laser through those points andj laser calibrators change frequencies of emmited laser at exact distances
• When required frequency is achieved, photosetting poliymer bonds with powder metal causing solid formation
7. Claims
1. Applications include design visualization like , prototyping/cad, metal casting, architecture, education, geospatial, healthcare and entertainment/retail.
2. Reconstructing fossils in paleontology.
3. Replicating ancient and priceless artifacts in archaeology. j
4. Reconstructing bones and body parts in forensic pathology and reconstructing heavily damaged evidence acquired from crime scene investigations.
5. Can be 3d printed in dental implants.
6. 3d printing technology was being studied by biotechnology firms and academia for possible use in tissue engineering applications where organs and body parts are built using inkjet techniques.
7. Manufacturers have long used these printers in their j design process to create prototypes for traditional manufacturing and research purposes. Using 3d printers for these purposes is called rapid prototyping.
8. Personal 3d printing or domestic 3d printing.
