Un Symmetric Tang And Clevis Joint Configuration
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved tang and clevis joint (100) for connecting a crew escape solid rocket motor case (118) to a multiple nozzle convergent hardware (120). The invented tang and clevis joint configuration (100) comprises of a clevis (102), a tang (104), a holding element (106), three O-ring seals consisting of a primary O-ring seal (108) and two secondary O-ring seals (110), a strap ring (112), a capture feature (114), at least three slit holes (116). The holding element (106) firmly fastens said clevis (102) and said tang (104). In this invention, an improved tang and clevis joint (100) with uniform inner diameters and a dedicated primary O-ring seal (108). Moreover, in this invention, the primary (108) and secondary (110) O-ring seals provide a pressure seal to prevent any leakage of hot combustion gases through the said joint (100) during the operation.
