Abstract: ABSTRACT Given disclosure provides a utility lock for a step through vehicle, which keeps locked object within the frame of the vehicle and can only be unlocked when the steering assembly is unlocked. Said utility lock has at least one lock clip fixed with the steering rear panel and has at least one lock hook fixed with the steering assembly. On left or right, generally right movement of the steering assembly said lock hook is engaged with the lock clip. Said lock hook and lock clip can only be disengaged on movement of the steering assembly thus if steering assembly is locked claimed utility lock cannot be opened hence if prevent theft of the belongings hanging in the utility lock. Further, as location of said lock remains in the centre, due to fixed location of lock clip remains in centre of the vehicle frame, object hanging in the utility lock remains within the frame of the vehicle thus parking space requirement is reduced.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention generally relates to a utility lock for a motorized vehicle and more particularly to the utility lock on the steering assembly of said vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Generally in step through vehicles, utility lock such as helmet lock is provided below the seat at lower seat cover. To lock any object e.g. helmet seat is to be opened and then the object to be secured in the respective hook and then seat to be covering such that without opening seat lock object cannot be removed.
In mentioned kind of arrangement, during parking vehicle space issue comes in picture as placed object e.g. hangs out of the frame area of the vehicle thus more space is required for parking.
In order to take care of mentioned issues a provision is required such that object placed in the lock does not go out the vehicle frame to maintain less space requirement and ease of locking object in the motorized vehicle can be provided.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Main objective of the present invention is to provide a utility lock for a step through vehicle in which steering assembly is fixed between steering front cover and steering rear cover. Said steering assembly has a predefined degree of movement along its mounting axis. A lock clip is fixed on the steering rear cover and a lock hook is fixed with steering assembly such that said lock hook is engaged with the lock clip on the left or right side movement of steering assembly. Said lock can be arranged on left or right side of the vehicle as per the requirement.
Another objective served through the claimed invention is to provide ease of use to the rider as any item or object can be placed in the lock clip and can be locked through lock hook by putting steering assembly in locking position without getting down from the vehicle. Operation of claimed locking system is maintained by vehicle key only thus usage is more convenient to the rider.
Further, as the object is placed in the centre of the steering rear cover thus it does not come out of the vehicle frame area hence space requirement for vehicle parking is comparatively lesser.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawing which is incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention, illustrate several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments serve to explain the principles of the invention and thus, not limiting the present invention and a brief description of the drawing is as follows:
Figure 1 and Figure 2 are showing the position and enablement of the claimed utility lock in a step through vehicle.
Figure 3 and Figure 4 are depicting the closed and open position of the utility lock in order to show enablement of the invention on the movement of the steering assembly.
Figure 5 and Figure 6 are providing a cut section for clear description of the mounting arrangement for the claimed utility lock.
Figure 7 is depicting an exploded view of the arrangement of the embodiments of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described for enablement purpose of the invention. The invention may have application to all types of motorized vehicles.
The scope of the invention is entirely based upon the claims provided.
Reference is made Figure 1 and Figure 2 in which utility lock 102 is fixed over the front part of the step through vehicle 100 (hereinafter vehicle). Said front part of the vehicle 100 is defined by three main embodiments, viz. steering assembly 103, steering front cover 104 and steering rear cover 105. Steering front cover 104 and steering rear cover 105 are connected with each other such that a space is formed between them in which the steering assembly 103 is housed.
Mentioned steering assembly 103 further comprises a head lamp 103(a), a display unit 103(e), a handle bar 103(b), a front suspension em 103(d) and a front wheel 103(c). The head lamp 103(a) and the display unit 103(e) are mounted over the handle bar 103(b) which is extending horizontally on its upper part as handles for the rider and vertically downwards as a joint/connection with the frame (not shown in figure(s)) of the vehicle 100 and the front suspension system 103(d). Said front suspension system 103(d) further supports the front wheel of the vehicle 100.
As shown in Figure 3, Figure 4 and Figure 7 said utility lock 102 further has two main embodiments viz. a lock hook 108 and a lock clip 107 fixed with the steering assembly 103 and steering rear cover 105 respectively. Said lock hook 108 is fixed on left or right side (left side for description purpose and best mode of the invention) of the vehicle as per the manufacturing requirements of the vehicle 100.
The lock clip 107 is fixed in the centre area of the steering rear cover 105 such that object 101 placed in said lock clip 107 does not come out of the frame area of the vehicle 100. Object 101 to be kept in the utility lock 102, helmet 101 as example for description purpose is secured in the lock clip 107 through helmet strap 106 such that said helmet 101 is hanging in the centre area of the steering rear cover 105.
Further, referring back to Figure 4, lock clip 107 and lock hook 108 get engaged with each other as the steering assembly 103 moves in left side of the vehicle 100.
i
While parking the vehicle 100 generally vehicle 100 is locked by keeping the steering assembly 103 on the left side of the vehicle 100 and in that case as described above, on locking the steering assembly 103, lock clip 107 and lock hook 108 remains engaged with each other till the steering assembly 103 is not unlocked and moved away from its locked position.
As shown in Figure 5, Figure 6 and Figure 7, mentioned lock clip 107 is fixed with the steering rear cover 107 at one end and it is open at another end such that any object 101 can be fixed or placed or hanged into said lock clip 107. Top or open end of the lock clip 107 has a locking structure at which it gets fixed with the lock hook 108.
Further, as shown mentioned lock hook 108 has receiving shape with respect to the locking end of the lock clip 107 such that on left movement of the steering assembly 103, lock clip 107 and lock hook 108 get engaged with each other and can be removed only on the movement of the steering assembly 103. At the time of parking a vehicle 100, steering assembly 103 or handle bar 103b is generally moved sidewise to lock the vehicle 100 and at that particular position lock clip 107 and lock hook 108 overlap each other.
Described invention provides ease of use to the rider as any item or object 101 can be place in the lock clip 107 and can be locked through lock hook 108 by putting steering assembly 103 in locking position without getting down from the vehicle 100.
Operation of claimed locking system 102 is maintained by vehicle key only thus usage is more convenient to the rider. Further, as the object e.g. helmet 101 is placed in the centre of the steering rear cover 105 thus it is less likely to come out of the vehicle frame area, hence space requirement for vehicle parking is comparative lesser.
WHAT IS CLAIMED IS
1) A utility lock for a step through vehicle comprising a steering assembly fixed between a steering front panel and a steering rear panel such that steering assembly has a predefined degree of movement along its mounting axis characterized in that at least one lock clip is fixed on the steering rear panel and at least one lock hook is fixed with steering assembly such that said lock hook is engaged with the lock clip on the predefined movement of the steering assembly.
2) The utility lock, as claimed in claim 1, wherein said predefined movement of the steering assembly is defining the right and left movement of said steering assembly.
3) The utility lock, as claimed in claim 1, wherein hook and clip can be mounted separately or integrally with respective base part.
