Abstract: This invention relates to variable EGR system with inline pump in engme comprising of a linkage joining hand and foot throttle connected to non contact type throttle control system which is provided in connection with electronic control unit (ECU) attached to an alternator for receiving RPM signal.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to variable EGR system with inline pump in engine. Said
system enables variable EGR flow with inline pump to achieve stringent
emission norms in naturally aspirated engine.
PRIOR ART
Direct EGR system is known to have been provided in the art, in which EGR
flow takes place from exhaust manifold to intake manifold through pipe.
Although the EGR system lowers the Nox formation, it also has a downside
effect of reducing the combustion rate which implies in combustion with a
higher degree of instability. The reduction in the burn rate results in higher
emissions of hydrocarbon. Another implication of the EGR rate is in the Brake
Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) and mean exhaust temperature. Both suffer
a decrease with higher EGR rates. Hence, controlled EGR flow rate for different
engine running conditions are required.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide variable EGR system
with inline pump in engine which overcomes disadvantages associated with the
prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide variable EGR system with
inline pump in engine which is efficient and simple in construction.
Further object of the present invention is to provide variable EGR system with
inline pump in engine to achieve emission on naturally aspirated engine for
higher HP rating.
-3-
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide variable EGR system
with inline pump in engine which results in improvement in the engine
performance.
Further object of the present invention is to provide variable EGR system with
inline pump in engine which reduces cost of engine.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide variable EGR system
with inline pump in engine which causes reduction in time of assembly and
ease of assembly.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided variable EGR system with inline
pump in engine comprising of a linkage joining hand and foot throttle
connected to non contact type throttle control system which is provided in
connection with electronic control unit (ECU) attached to an alternator for
receiving RPM signal.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanymg
drawings and wherein:

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION WITH REFERENCE
TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
This invention provides variable EGR system with inline pump in engine. Now,
reference may be made to fig. 1. The system comprising of a linkage joining
hand and foot throttle connected to non contact type throttle control system.
The system is provided in connection with electronic control unit (ECU)
attached to an alternator for receiving RPM signal.
The linkage arrangement controls the throttle % ge of inline pump connected
through the throttle control system. In order to control EGR flow, RPM and
%ge of throttle are required by the electronic control unit.
By adaptation of non contact type throttle sensing arrangement, EGR valve
position is controlled. Hence, different valve position in different working
condition of tractors can be controlled. Therefore, by controlling EGR valve
position, the EGR flow rate is controlled.
Pressing of hand/foot throttle by the driver leads to angular movement in the
throttle linkage thereby causing rotation of linkage. The rotation of linkage is
sensed by said throttle control assembly. That variation in the position of
linkage is communicated to ECU in the form of voltage and current.
Relying on the signal of throttle %ge of inline pump and RPM signal of
alternator, the electronic control unit controls the valve position thereby
controlling flow rate.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims:-
WE CLAIM:
1. Variable EGR system with inline pump in engine comprising of a linkage
joining hand and foot throttle connected to non contact type throttle
control system which is provided in connection with electronic control
unit (ECU) attached to an alternator for receiving RPM signal.
2. Variable EGR system with inline pump in engine as claimed in claim 1,
wherein the linkage arrangement controls the throttle % ge of inline
pump connected through the throttle control system.
3. Variable EGR system with inline pump in engine as claimed in claim 1 or
2, comprising of non contact type throttle sensing arrangement for
controlling EGR valve position, in which different valve position in
different working condition of tractors can be controlled.
4. Variable EGR system with inline pump in engine as claimed in any of the
preceding claims, wherein the electronic control unit controls the valve
position to control flow rate by using the signal of throttle % ge of inline
pump and RPM signal of alternator.
5. Variable EGR system with inline pump in engine substantially as herein
described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
